stayed here on a motorbike trip and was pleasantly surprised... 6 rooms with share facilities but with 4 amenities rooms you are spoilt for choice... stayed on a Thursday night in April and were only ones there so had run of the house... rooms are smallish with high ceilings but have Tv, aircond, window and fridge. The pub itself has a restaurant (didnt try), serves wide range of local wines by glass, and had about half dozen local beers on tap... there was also plenty of lounge type seating and a roaring open log fire to relax by ....next door to the pub is Angullong wines tasting room, and just a 2 minute stroll down the hill is the Tonic hatted restaurant. This accommodation, for $90 twin, ticks all the good boxes ... only suggestion is amping up the lighting in the rooms ..cant read a thing but that's only a petty gripe (oh, and no internet)... overall superb! Oh, and the woman running the place was super efficient and friendly!!…
Love this place. Often come to Orange for work and prefer to stay in historic Millthorpe. While food options are limited the friendly country service is so worth it. Well priced food, super friendly locals and magical scenery. Ticks lots of boxes for me.
The Commercial Hotel has had a change of owner ( 7 months ago). We made a midweek stop and enjoyed the winter special menu very much. A very friendly atmosphere, open fires, comfortable lounges and a glass of the best Shiraz, we could have stayed all day.
We have been here before and we'll come back again. This time we have brought family and friends with us to enjoy Gerry's wonderful hospitality. Staying overnight as the rooms are comfy and we'll eat here too. The crumbed lamb cutlets are yum!
We happened upon The Commercial by chance. We were heading back to Sydney from a trip to Cobar and wanted an overnight break. We couldn't find anything in Orange so my fiancé did a quick internet search of accommodation in the area and found The Commercial. We enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed two nights. The room was great and the atmosphere in the pub was brilliant - everything a good country pub should be. The food was outstanding and the hospitality and service would put many city establishments shame
