Stayed for two nights at this hotel which was somewhat dated and frumpy. They don't do cooked breakfasts as the kitchen no longer operates.the bedrooms are comfortable and cosy ie electric blankets which we needed as the weather was wet and cold. The overall view is that it needs a fortune spending on it if it is going to survive.... More

We booked two nights at Franklin Manor as we had stayed there 30 years ago on a previous trip. On arrival we were disappointed to hear that dinner was no longer available as it was years ago. Despite that, Franklin Manor has undergone extensive restoration and the new manager, and her receptionist, were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly as my... More

We had a very comfortable stay in a nice room with a comfortable bed and plenty of space. The B and B is spacious with large comfortable reception rooms and a large breakfast room. Continental breakfast has plentiful cereal, bread, juice and fruit - no cheese, ham or eggs available. The garden is pleasant with colourful rhododendrons and sitting areas... More

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Franklin Manor. The room was lovely along with the two lounge rooms and dining room surrounded by beautiful gardens. Really enjoyed our continental breakfast which consisted of an array of cereals, fresh fruit, bread for toasting, various spreads, juices, fruit salad, and a great selection of teas and of course percolated coffee.... If you're after modern rooms and super fast internet this is not the place to stay. However if you're looking for a comfortable bed and continental breakfast this fits the bill. We spent 2 nights here. I can only comment on our room, room 11. It is located downstairs near reception. The room was dual aspect, one window was almost... More

The Franklin manor has a lot of character. Surprisingly it has 14 rooms although you don't feel it. Each room is unique and is accessed with a skeleton key. Each room is outfitted with antiquy furniture appropriate to the ambience they're going for. When booking a room, request one in the back. It was nice & quiet. We didn't hear... More

Stayed in a downstairs room which was large and roomy and had everything we could want with a generous bathroom, even though the shower could do with cleaning around the bottom, and I did this easily with my fingernails and a cloth.....perhaps a little more attention to detail, but really being fussy here as I really think most guests wouldn't... This is an old, large house that has been converted well. The interior has a lot of dark wood period fittings in keeping with its age. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with pleasant views over a lovely garden. I suspect it can get very cool at times in Strahan but there was a good heater in the room plus... More

The new managers are very friendly and trying to make ppl feel welcome. Just a suggestion, I think the free breakfast could be a little better. Fresh bread from the bakery down the road and some local jams and honey would make an enormous difference. Maybe some fresh fruit. A bowl of Local apples, as they do in other places... More

Our room was on the ground floor and it was spacious and well decorated. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom clean and well finished. Our hostess was very helpful. Breakfast is only continental....a pity as the dining room lends itself to a slow enjoyable hot meal. Our friends stayed upstairs and there accommodation was lovely. There is no lift... More
