We stayed for one night at Schouten House with another couple during our two week Tasmanian Tour. The upper floor room was very comfortable. The room amenities were very good including lovely period features in keeping with the age of the property. The bathroom amenities were also good. The hosts were friendly and the breakfast was also enjoyable with emphasis...

The house is a real piece of Tasmanian history and has been furnished in keeping. Our room was comfortable and immaculate and the whole house has a lovely tranquil feel to it. Cameron and Jodie have done everything to make your stay an enjoyable one and they obviously enjoy what they are doing. Breakfasts are exceptional with everything homemade and...

We stayed at Schouten House for two nights while touring the area. Our hosts Jodie and Cameron were so friendly and nice; made us feel right at home! Their passion for good food is certainly obvious once you have tasted the gourmet breakfast. Lovely fresh produce and homemade marmalade , jams granola , as well as The Scottish Baps! The...

We have stayed in a number of B&B's in Tasmania over the years. Schouten House is right up there with the best. Our online booking was promptly replied and when we arrived, Cameron knew exactly who we were without introduction. The lounge and dining areas are well appointed and comfortable. Our suite was spacious clean and quiet and the antique...

Everything about the property was great - from its convenient location, to the very helpful and informative owners, the lovely clean and comfortable rooms, and the fantastic breakfast (From many choices I had eggs on toast with roasted tomatoes- excellent) - could not fault this accommodation - we highly recommend it and would stay here again for sure if we...

My partner and I had never stayed at a proper 'Bnb' before, and this was an excellent introduction! The building itself is beautiful, and the interior feels like the set of a Jane Austen novel. The hosts were wonderful, and the breakfast was outstanding. While we stayed in here in summer (and it was lovely), I think this property would...

This is an old characterful property in quite a small village. It's location by the coast is perfect for walks and for trips to the Freycinet peninsula further afield. The car park is laid out with guide lines to maximise ease of parking and occupancy. Our room was spacious, although the ensuite bathroom was quite small. The owners have tried...

Myself, My wife and my parents spent 2 lovely nights at Schoten House. The house is located one very short block away from a lovely beach. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was made to order and better than many breakfasts we had at other cafés along our trip. They offer picnic baskets for lunches on anyone of the nearby...

This was a joy of a stay. Cameron and Jodie were wonderful hosts. They provided home made preserves, yoghurt, bread at breakfast, home cooked shortbread to welcome you and offered cheese platters that were made by Jodie. This is a Georgian house and we slept comfortably in a four poster bed.

We had a wonderful two nights at Schouten House. Our room was beautifully furnished and comfortable, the breakfasts included a wide selection of hot meals cooked to order and made from local produce. We were also able to order a cheese platter to have with wine one evening that had the best of local cheeses and fruits as well as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Schouten House Bed and Breakfast is a heritage listed home, rich in history and a well known landmark on Tasmania's East Coast. Built in 1844 as an inn it is one of the first substantial buildings to appear in Swansea when the township was being established around a military base on Waterloo Point. Now a comfortable bed and breakfast offering traditional accomodations and a warm welcome, it is an excellent place to call home while you explore the coast and Freycinet Peninsula, or just as a relaxing getaway. Hearty cooked breakfasts, including options such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, or our popular pancakes with (really real) maple syrup and bacon, are included for all guests. ... more   less
