The resort and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The view of Lake Erie is magnificent. The grounds and landscaping are kept meticulously. Rooms are very clean and in excellent condition. The service, however, was horrible! There seem to be almost no staff on the property. The woman who checked us in spent most of her time smoking outside of the hotel office. She was extremely brusque and basically announced we would have no housekeeping services during our 3 day stay due to COVID. When I did have to call front desk to empty garbage and replace towels the staff member was very rude and advised they'd get to it when they could. There was also a bizarre pro-smoking vibe, ashtrays absolutely everywhere on the outside porches and by the pool, some overflowing with butts. Overnight it appears there is no staff at all. Both nights we experienced very loud music/parties in the room next to ours; but there was no one on premises to call with a noise complaint. For $300 per night we found the lack of service unacceptable and extremely disappointing.

The hotel room was good and seemed pretty clean. There was a separate living room with a tv and a bedroom with a tv which was nice. The bedroom could use a little more lightning. Since they don't clean your room during your stay with COVID and you have to ask for extra supplies, it would be nice if they gave you more toilet paper, towels for pool etc, right away. The limited staff was more concerned with patrolling the pool for pool bands and getting within your 6ft than making for a comfortable stay. There were unsupervised kids rough housing and taking up the whole pool so we couldn't even enjoy it, but instead of putting a stop to that it was all about whether or not you were wearing your pool band the whole time. There was a nice view across the street with comfortable seats. The garden on the property were nice. It is the only hotel on the island and the place is inviting, however the unpleasant staff is the one thing that would make us hesitant about staying here again. We came here to get away and relax a couple of days and didn't feel like we could fully do that because of that. For the price I would expect staff to be more accommodating and more pleasant to be around.

This hotel is expensive but well-appointed and nicely landscaped. Our room looked like it had been updated recently, everything was clean and modern-looking. Room was large and separated into bedroom and sitting room both with large wall-mounted TV’s. You can walk downtown in about 15 minutes on a sidewalk.

I booked a $350 room for my friends that were coming up to the island on our boat with us I took them over there to the hotel to check them in and I was greeted by a very rude woman that right off the bat assumed that we were going to have five people in the two room suite not that it would matter but obviously she said for people maximum I said not a problem I will stay on the boat. Her attitude from the get-go was absolutely unwelcoming and unfriendly on a beautiful island she needs to learn customerservice , then she proceeds to tell me about what it takes to open the pool and why it’s not open think it’s highway robbery to open up a hotel at $340 a night and not even discount that rate because there is no opening of the pool when it was mandated to open May 26. The thing this woman needs to learn and that family that owns that hotel in the midst of this pandemic people need to be more welcoming and friendly it’s already a very unfriendly world that we live in and these people just did a horrible job of being exactly like all the scared people that wear the mask,Wake up you’re going to go out of business real soon and I was here to support you, Never will I frequent your place again and I will tell everyone I know the same thing because I have a lot of boating friends that come to the island. You might want to rethink the way you operate especially in such uncertain times.

First review ever. I don’t normally take time for these things but please, please read this: they have ashtrays right outside the doors of each room! If you can’t stand cigarette stench and the heavy chemicals they use to try to mask them - run away from this place. When we got here today we paid $576 for two nights. After finding out that the brewery is closed (bummer) we then found out there is no breakfast at this “resort” (also a bummer, but still we were OK). Then we saw the ashtrays everywhere and saw that people were smoking all around the pool. My wife immediately noticed a heavy smell on the room. I noticed it too but didn’t realize how bad it was until I started to lose my voice. I asked if there was another room they could move us to, and they couldn’t. I asked for a refund since there is no way we could breathe that mess all night and then again tomorrow- they refused. I asked if I could have at least a partial refund and they refused again. I’ve never seen anything like this. If management reads this and wants to make it right please contact me. Right now I’m waiting on the ferry two days before I am supposed to because of this terrible place. Our vacation is ruined. You should be ashamed.

The room was large and clean. The pool is very nice with beautiful flowers surrounding it. The water was very warm. There was enough parking close to the rooms.

There 2 doors to each room on the 1st floor - one to the parking lot and one to the pool. The one to the pool only has a deadbolt, so you can't lock it if you leave that way to go to the pool. We just left it unlocked while we in the pool, but that was less than ideal.

There is almost no lighting in the rooms and the doors don't seal well. Getting our young daughter to sleep was issue due to noise coming from around the edges of the door - just normal conversations in the breezeway where there are chairs for people to hang out, nobody was acting inappropriately loud.

While the property itself was decent, it was the staff that made the experience comically bad.

They do NOT allow for early check ins - do not ask. You also can't use the pool until you check in. While these policies are less than ideal, my issue is with how the staff communicated them. Practically yelling at us for being on property about an hour before check in hoping that 1 of our 5 rooms would be ready a little early or that we would be able to cool off in the pool while we waited for our room.

Many of our groups keycards quit working part way through the stay. Not a big deal at most hotels, but nobody wanted to deal with the front desk staff so people just left their rooms unlocked instead.

You have to call to book your room. It took me countless attempts over an entire morning to get someone to answer the phone when I made the reservation last year.

Stayed in the Cunningham suite with girlfriends- girls getaway trip. Website with views and amenities sounded lovely. Cost $625 per night with taxes but split 4 ways was fair. Beautiful from the outside but inside much to be desired. Both toilets with mold rings, bathtub not cleaned, missing hair dryer, cobwebs in living room area with dead bugs, cheap towels, bottom of shower curtain moldy. Balcony porch with chairs covered in cobwebs and dead bugs. The kitchen was nicely appointed.

Well this place is one of our favorites if you need a pool and a hot tub. We have stayed here before in 90 degree weather. Easy access to rooms and within a mile of downtown. Great view of the Lake. But, we specifically wanted the hot tub this time around and booked two days. When we arrived the pool had been closed down. Okay it is October ( but no mention on our reservation) but the hot tub was up and running /until it stopped. The first day was positively wonderful lounging in the hot tub in 56 degree weather. The second day proved to be even more inviting with warmer air, but the hot tub wasn’t turned on. We waited all afternoon and called twice as to why. Each time we were told it had broken and a maintenance man was working on it. Where? From home? We never saw anyone. Each time we were told he would come talk to us. Needless to say we never heard from the hotel or this maintenance man. And the hot tub never went on again for the rest of our stay. Very disappointed. Though we understand that things breakdown, we do not understand the lack of communication with us on the matter. Afterall, we were paying for these amenities weren’t we?

We were there a little off season, so the pool wasn't open and it was pretty quiet there. Our room looked like it was brand new and it was a two story room with three beds. Everything was clean and enjoyed our stay. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. Most of the restaurants are a little bit of a walk away, so if you don't mind a 1/2 mile walk to get to shopping and restaurants, then you better plan on renting a golf cart. There is not a ton to do on the island, so if you are looking for a place to chill and relax, then this is the place.

Dead bugs all over the bed and headboard upon check in. Marvin was the only one working, so couldn’t get anyone to change the bedding. We had to change it ourselves. Pool was dirty, “hot” tub was gross and cold.

It seems from some of the reviews that they have bicycles to use for free. Is that the case?
Answer from Dianaleight

Yes they do. They are completely free as long as you are staying at the resort. You just have to sign them out and leave a photo ID. But you can only use them during the daylight.

Check out their website. Under the reservation tab it will give you the nightly prices. The prices change depending on the time of year, weekend vs week day and what suite you want. I highly recommend staying here! It was well worth the money.
