Our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. The staff here were very friendly and helpful especially with all the local attractions. Their breakfast is absolutely fabulous if you're hoping to eat in while there. There wasn't housekeeping, which was definitely a bummer as we would have used it. Cleaning was good other than the shower, which was definitely not cleaned prior to our arrival. We had some rowdy kids running the halls, but otherwise very calm.

Was great until the morning we left on the 10th of June 2021. When we got in the car to leave the hotel I noticed my legs were covered in bites. Every day the bites would grow bigger and more painful. On the 6th day since getting the bites I visited the doctor and she confirmed that they were indeed bed bug bites. I had such a bad reaction from the bites I was prescribed prednisone. I had 16 bites all together on my body and half of them were the size of quarters. I have had to wear long sleeves and pants to cover my giant red bites. We where in room 124 for 2 nights. This was my first time experiencing bed bug bites. So now we will make sure to check for bed bugs at every hotel we risk staying at.

It was pretty clean for the most part. I only noticed a couple of things house keeping overlooked. It was nothing I brought up to staff though. Check-out is at 12. We had house keeping try to come in on us twice while we were trying to get ready. Once around 9am, then again about an hour later. It was extremely annoying.

I’m truly surprised at the very low level of Covid-19 safety measures actually being practiced. I felt quite uncomfortable with the lack of Covid-19 precautions enforced by The Holiday Inn. “Mask Required in public areas”, signs are clearly posted all over the hotel. Unfortunately, many guests are not wearing masks anywhere; in the entrances, halls, elevator, lobby. In the small lounge area (open to the main-entrance/lobby and pool) people were gathered several times watching tv with out masks, even eating pizza and drinking adult beverages. When I inquired at the front desk about the mask requirement policy, the very pleasant lady (wearing a mask) said “we can’t force anyone to wear a mask”. This sweet lady seemed to have no authority to enforce the law or The Holiday Inn’s Covid-19 policies. On our last morning there, the one staff person on duty was clearly ill with a cough and sneezing and looked very run down. At one point, behind the check in desk she had her mask down. Also, there are “hands-free” sanitizer dispensers throughout the hotel, at the entrances/exit, elevators, etc. I was thrilled to see this; until only two of the seven I tried worked or was filled. I asked the manager about them, she stated they were clogged. Thankfully I brought plenty! The another big factor in deciding to stay at this Holiday Inn Express was it has an indoor pool. The pool looked more like a pond and there are broken tiles. The back entrance was not secure from the moment we arrived, no one needed a room key to open this door. We brought this to the attention of staff 4 times, including the manager; it was never fixed during our stay . The staff were pleasant and attentive. However, many times there was no one at the guest service desk with a sign stating they “..were assisting another guest..”. I waited over a half hour once and just gave up. Other guests were complaining “no one ever answers the guest services phone”. There was only one staff member on duty all most the entire duration of our stay. There definitely is a need for more than one person on duty. One staff person does everything! The night before we checked out it snowed 8”. The snow stopped around 6am the next morning. At 12pm (check -out) the sidewalks had not be shoveled or salted. The room was Very, very clean! I sanitize it upon our arrival and only found one small smudge of dirt on the bathroom trim. Great job cleaning staff! Carpet needs shampooed, it felt gross even though it was vacuumed. The public areas: The hall and stair carpet were really in need of vacuuming when we arrived-they were not vacuumed during our stay, same for the lobby and elevator floors. The guest coffee station was well stocked, but not well cleaned. The coffee was always luke warm. If we could have afforded to leave and stay at a hotel which actually enforces the law and follows advertised COVID-19 practices, we most definitely would of! We spent all we had on 3 nights at The Holiday Inn, a brand I thought I could trust. I paid extra money to stay a Holiday Inn during this time because I know they are clean and they strongly advertise Covid-19 safety. 🥺

Despite signs all over the hotel informing guests that masks are MANDATORY in public areas, no guests were wearing masks while getting food at the buffet. There were 15-20 people, maskless, breathing and aspirating on the food! I brought my concerns to the hotel management and they refused to do anything about it despite their stated policy of MANDATORY masks in public areas.
