We found a deal on Groupon to stay a night at the resort hotel, and we ended up paying about $390 for our room for one night. The majority of the first day we spent there, our AC unit wasn’t working in our room on an 85 degree day. Thankfully by the evening it was able to get fixed. The staff was so nice and friendly, and had no problem tending to our needs during our stay. The rooms did not come with mini fridges, you had to pay $10 to rent one for the night. $10 is nothing, but when you already paid almost $400 for your room, I feel like it should be automatically included. We were so excited to head to their private beach when we noticed the section of beach, was so small. Could maybe comfortably have 3 families on it at a time to safely keep your distance. Our room struggled with plumbing, with no accessible plungers or anything of the sort. Beds not very comfortable. It was very clean, but I feel like not well maintained. I do know weekends are near double the cost of weekdays, so if you’re considering going, highly recommend going on a week day to get your moneys worth. Great for families, maybe not the best for a couples retreat.

as mentioned in other feedback, the property defiantly needs updating. the carpets are stained and look dirty. Breakfast was not what I would expect during the COVID 19 crisis. it was a help yourself to pastry or cereal. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
my granddaughter dropped something behind the dresser and found a pair of very dusty glasses, several wrappers of various kinds. in the advertisement there was a fridge in the room, in reality, we paid $10 per day for one, and it was dirty.

Nice, clean hotel-but hardly the "resort" it boasts to justify its very high price (over $300 per night). Nice pools and nice views of the Bay, but undermined by cheapness of the rooms-very "Red Roofy" with plastic shower curtains instead of glass, small TV's and just overall cheapness in the furnishings. And the continental breakfast (no hot breakfast) is set up in what looks like a conference room. Overall, a disappointment. I would not revist. Plenty of other hotels in the area that give much better bang for the buck.

My family and I love this place so much. The owners are the sweetest. We come almost every year during the summer and love the family aspect of the property. The pools are great for the kids (especially the bucket pool) and the lower pools are nice for my husband and I because it is very quiet down there. The sand on the beach is very clean and soft. They offer paddleboarding for an extra cost and I highly recommend it. When the waves are calm, it is a great thing to do with your family. We always stay in a cottage and it is so much fun to cook out every day. The staff comes around to check up on customers and say hello which is so nice of them. The kids also love playing frisbee in the large grass field. My husband and I love to play tennis together and the tennis court next to the hotel is very nice. The net is in good condition and the hotel even gives you tennis balls and rackets if you ask the front desk. I believe they also have other sports equipment that you can borrow. The picnic tables are always so clean, we never have to eat with bird poop on the table :) When it isn't raining, the staff builds a fire at night time next to the tennis courts with beach chairs all around it. They also offer jet skiing for an extra cost which was a blast. On our last day, we took a taxi from South Beach Resort to go to Cedar Point. The taxi was offered through South Beach Resort and it even picked us up at the end of the day too. This resort is definitely more for families and having fun. It is not meant to be a luxary suite at any means. Marblehead is also such a sweet area and South Beach Resort is our favorite lake resort to stay at.

I’m ashamed that I let this place gouge me out of over $300 for one night. First off, none of the staff in the lobby were wearing masks, including the man who checked us in (he was nice enough, however). Guests were not wearing masks in common areas. Bring earplugs - any time another room above or beside us used water, it was like a jackhammer then floodgates opening inside the walls. Then there’s the matter of people filling up their jacuzzi tubs and turning them on at 11pm and 7am. My pillow felt like it was vibrating as they ran their tub. Anytime anyone in the room above us moved, it sounded like they’d come through the ceiling. Trying to fall asleep, I listened to some man snoring in the room next to us. We couldn’t sit on the balcony without smelling smoke or pot. And don’t expect a peaceful “lake view”. The view is mostly the volleyball court, cottages, kiddy pools and playgrounds, then the lake in the distance. Overall this place is rundown and is only suitable for people who don’t plan to relax or get any sleep. We didn’t even dare check out the breakfast, especially given Covid and our interaction with staff without masks. Don’t waste your money. Go to the Holiday Inn.

I have a large group looking for lodging for an event two years away. I thought this place might work well for our group. When I looked, the queen hotel rooms were listed at $129-$169 per night (there is confusing pricing on their website, it says that room starts at $129 on one page and the next it says it starts at $149). The website also says that you need to call to book the cottages. I called this "resort" and spoke to Fred, who I believe is the owner's father. I asked if they would be willing to open the cottages earlier than typical for this event, if we could book them all. Fred explained that due to April’s questionable weather in NE Ohio, they could not open the cottages earlier than May. However, he noted that the hotel would be open and would work for our group. I talked to the group and we agreed that this hotel would work. The very next day we went to book the rooms and the same room was $401/night!! This feels so dirty and slimy. These rooms are still listed at the $149 price the weekends before and after!! This exorbitant price increase was never mentioned when I talked to Fred the day before! This is NE OHIO, in April, at a 3-star hotel with iffy reviews! Needless to say, we are not staying here where the owners are shysters. I should have heeded the warnings of the many other 1-star reviews. BEWARE.

Billing was Misleading. Paid 446 a night when I was under the impression of being for a 2 night visit $446. This was for one night only I was charged $900 for 2 nights and didn’t use any of the facility or enjoy their cold continental breakfast. I checked out on Sunday and went to breakfast I received a phone call stating my debit card was declined this was due to their error. I answered and stated I would call them back because I was waiting at a restaurant to have breakfast and didn’t have the information. 30 minutes later I get a voicemail stating that if I don’t pay they will call the cops. Staff were rude.

The other reviews on here have been spot on and I should have paid more attention to them prior to booking. The room itself was clean enough, dated and nothing special. You can see the spots on the ceiling where previous jacuzzi tub leaks happened above. View is mostly of the pools and volleyball area, with lake pretty far in the distance. The walls are pretty thin, so assume that you’ll hear everything above and next to you. No mini frig in the room crazy…go take one week’s worth of rates paid, hit Walmart and get them. The whole quiet hours/curfew thing is understandable since there are so many young families staying there. But for a single adult traveler, I didn’t appreciate being spoken to with an advance lecture about the rules like I was a teenager. So much for welcoming customer service. Cold free breakfast is mostly cereal, some muffins, donettes and a brown banana or two. Will not stay here again.

The property is on a beautiful location and well-maintained with friendly staff.

Be aware, the hotel will charge an additional $32.50/day "Expedia fee". This fee was NOT mentioned on any of the paperwork I received from the booking company or the resort. When the owner checked me in, she relayed a great deal of information, but never mentioned the additional fee.

She brought it up when I returned the keys at check out. Incidentally, I didn't book through Expedia, and was charged the Expedia fee any way.

As far as the room goes the bath room sink was not draining good at all , mattresses and pillows need replaced , you have to pay $10 extra for a fridge or microwave each and no iron or ironing boards in rooms . Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired , donuts, cereal, juices and coffee and some fruit. Our room was well over 300.00 a night !
