Staying in the Sheraton on NYE cost me IDR 5.635.000 or around USD 412. While for the Borobudur sunrise package it cast IDR 450.000 or around USD 33 for 5 hours. Departed at dawn around 4 to ctach up the sunrise. Got plenty of time there and went back to the hotel. Trip was about 5 hours, if you wanna stay longer then u need to pay extra.
I really recommend to take the package from the hotel as they have privilege access. Borobudur is open at 6 am for public which is too late for sunrise. Only hotels and tour travel has some kind of access to sunrise. Rather than getting into much trouble in arranging this, hotel package is the better option :)
Hope it helps and have a wonderful trip to Yogya.
