Stanford House located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio in the scenic Cuyahoga Valley near Peninsula, Ohio. A historic 19th-century farm home built in the 1830s by George Stanford, one of the first settlers in the Western Reserve. National Park Service purchased the property in 1978 to act as a youth hostel in conjunction with the American Youth Hostels (AYH)...

Our troop of 8 middle school girls and 9 adults rented out the entire house for a 3-night summer visit. It was PERFECT in every way. We were especially thankful for the new AC during the hot summer nights. It worked so well that we were wishing we each had a comforter for sleep. Plenty of beds for all 27...

We were fortunate to be able to rent a room at the Stanford House on Friday and Saturday nights because of a cancellation; otherwise, the house tends to be booked up for weekends. We were also fortunate to be the only ones there on Friday night, and the only ones staying on the second floor on Saturday night. The limitation...

The staff doing the check in were friendly and helpful. This is more like a hostel, though I had a private room with a lock. Bathrooms were shared. There were only two people in the house. I had dinner out, but there was a full kitchen to cook in. It is a very simple place and fine for a solo...

One of my friends rented this house for out of town guests to stay at. We had so much fun! Beautiful setting near trails, waterfall, bike trails, camping, downtown Peninsula. It's a hostel type house that has several rooms with bunk beds, very quaint and clean. It also has a fire pit and wood shed.

We had never stayed in a hostel-type facility before but enjoyed it very much. The first night we had the place all to ourselves but the second night we shared it with 2 separate groups. A great way to meet new people. Stanford House has a huge professional well-equipped kitchen and large dining room. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable....

Had a very pleasant stay at Stanford House this summer and I highly recommend it as long as you have a clear understanding of what it is and isn't. Stanford House is a restored 19th century farmhouse which, as mentioned in a previous review, is still best described as a hostel. It has certain amenities such as a large kitchen,...

We recently stayed for a family reunion and the Standford house is PERFECT! There are lots of rooms and lots of beds. There are bathrooms on both floors that are communal with multiple showers in each. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make meals(except food). The dining room has long tables of solid wood so everyone...

This is my favorite place to stay in the whole country. Going from Illinois to vermont and back, I've stayed there midway for 15 years, bicycling the towpath every time. I had heard it's no longer available to single hostelers, but will try this June, 2014, and see if I can stay again. It's a grand house in a beautiful...

The Stanford House is a historical building that used to be a hostel, but has been recently renovated (with locally salvaged materials!). While it's still technically a hostel, it's very nice and clean and the keepers do an excellent job of keeping it up, providing continental breakfast, etc. I believe there are 9 bedrooms in the place, 2 group bathrooms...
