Bandon Dunes is true to the spirit of Scotland’s ancient links. Six distinct links courses have been conceived in harmony with the natural environment. They combine with all the essential elements to reveal a new golf experience every time you play. The soul of the game resides here. Players walk. And at the end of the day, gracious hospitality comforts each guest like a warm, friendly embrace. THIS IS DREAM GOLF. THIS IS GOLF AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE.

We are a family of 4, and we stayed in a 2-bedroom Chrome Lake Lodge. Truly, the service and the covid protocols were great. I have no complaints. But I kind of laughed to my husband that our accommodations are similar to what I'd expect for a white collar low security prison, lol. Everything is low maintenance and functional, to the point where you wonder if you're really paying $300+ a night for this. Showers are roll-in without shower glass or a curb (older clientele don't need tripping hazards), vanity storage in one bath was stainless steel shelves (hope you don't have makeup). There is a sheet of stainless steel (for shaving?) in the shower. And your bench is a plastic stool (that has likely seen the back side of many older male booties). The space between the two rooms has four single-seats, no touching when relaxing.

Any way, the accommodations are fine. And again, the service couldn't have been nicer. All our food was takeout or room service because of the state Oregon restrictions was in, and it was all just fine.

They know who they are catering to, and they do it successfully. My boys loved their golf and the nearby beaches are spectacular. And if you aren't their normal market, just chuckle and roll with it. You'll be FINE!

Completed my 4th visit to BD in early December. There are 12 of us that go each year. The group is coming up on it's 20th anniversary. Can't say enough about this place. Mike did golfers in the USA a "huge" favor by creating this gem!!! For first timers scanning reviews prior to visiting, here is the short story.

The visuals are spectacular, the golf (traditional links style) is unmatched short of a long flight to the British Isles, the weather is "unpredictable", the location is remote, the facilities are somewhat spartan, the staff is welcoming and engaging and the food is very good. Yes most of the guests are men and groups of men on golf trips do sometimes make more noise than they do at Church, but mostly well mannered beyond just noise. If you are looking for a couples get-a-way (sorry Mike) this is just not the place. Guys, please don't try and convince your spouse that it is. You "will not" be rewarded for it. There are no large lobbies for lounging, no swimming pool, no spa though they do offer basic massage services....there are walking paths but little else to occupy time other than golf. It offers a near spiritual golf experience and by intent, almost nothing else. It is not The Broadmoor, Napa or South Beach. It is decidedly one dimensional (and very good at it), by intent. Cheers.

Cannot wait for next December and my long awaited tee time at the Sheep Ranch!

Golfer's nirvana. This place is for golfers, not people who golf - you come for golf and not much else.

The golf: We played every single course, to include some of the holes at the Punch Bowl (putting course (not included in the hole count)). Not a single course disappointed and every single one was incredible (even Sheep Ranch which we played in the pouring rain). The views are spectacular! Bathrooms on the courses were pretty frequent which is a nice! Bathrooms at the courses were designated Male or unisex (no Female), not much of an issue but odd. The caddies were pretty terrific though we were happy not to have our first day's caddies with us the rest of the days - but then again, it was Sheep Ranch in the pouring rain so.... Each course has it's own pro shop and while some things were outrageous, many were priced fairly. The practice facility, to include the par 3 Shorty's (which we played but not included in hole count) is pretty terrific and spacious.

The resort: The staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating. It is definitely more male forward in décor and ambiance. With the exception of the spa and hiking trails, there is little else to do here but golf. The sleeping rooms were decent enough though no tubs, just showers. The very best thing was the shoe dryer in the room, after Sheep Ranch, it took a full day to dry my shoes and head covers!

We were eight women golfers and we hardly saw any other women, if we did, they were with their husbands.

The food: Again, a little male forward, not much in the way of vegetarian prepared options though the chefs created something when asked. Each course offers some food with the exception of Old Macdonald and the food is outstanding. Sheep Ranch has a pastrami sammy that my girlfriends raved about and Pacific Dunes' grilled cheese should not be missed. Dinner at the Gallery was delic. The really nice thing is that the food is right priced. You don't feel as though they are gouging you, especially as the golf is not cheap and the accommodations are not the Motel 6.

Finally took the drive down from Portland to Bandon Dunes last week and it was worth every minute in the car. Once you get there, you realize that this is a golf resort with the emphasis on the golf. The courses are beautiful and if you did not know better, you would think you had been transported to Scotland. The lodging is great as well, but clearly geared for men, as there was no bathtub in our Lily Pond unit, which my wife missed. There are plenty of food options and after you arrive, there is no need to leave before you have played hopefully many rounds of golf. Given our last minute trip, I only played Pacific Dunes, but what a fantastic experience. If you are playing that or any of the other courses for the first time, I would highly recommend getting a caddie as their knowledge makes the experience even that much better. I would highly recommend if you love the game of golf and I will for sure be back in 2020. If you are an Oregon resident, playing during the winter comes with a reduced rate, and you can get lucky with the weather, as we were and experience great conditions, even during winter time.

Took a trip to Bandon Dunes with my husband and son. We stayed at the Round Lake facility. It is a beautiful new building. The bathroom is set up really nicely with a separate shower/changing room, and separate toilet room so the double sinks in the bathroom can be used at the same time without privacy being compromised. There is a shoe dryer for 2 pairs of shoes. Our room had beautiful large windows that looked out to the wooded areas. There was A/C in the room (others said that other properties didn’t have A/C???) along with a ceiling fan. Large tv and gas fireplace.

I didn’t bring my clubs, would have been too much golfing for me but I was able to walk along with my family and enjoy the beautiful golf courses (at no charge). The pro shops were very nice with different price points available. Everyone was very friendly and helpful also.

Not too much to do, if you aren’t a golfer but it is a golf paradise if you golf!

We ate at the Pacific Grill, it was very good. We also drove in to Coos Bay and ate at a Brewery one night. About a 30 min drive from Bandon Dunes.

The room was so wet and moldy that our clothes smelled in the morning. The sheets were wet and clammy and the in room coffee is better at a basic Hilton. For the luxury price, the room feels like a 2 star experience. There was only one place yo sit by the fireplace and no outside balcony, let alone deck.

First rate golf course and caddy program with a third rate accommodations s experience . Poor and inexperienced staffing shows they are not ready for big crowds even though they will tell you they are . The golf is magnificent but a Holiday Inn experience at the hotel. This place has gone down hill since we last came here 10 years ago. Need to invest in staff training and how to handle big crowds with short staffing

We spent two nights at the BD Golf Resort (Inn). We had a huge room with a fireplace facing the lodge and the 18th green. This place had been on our "bucket list" for years and it was better than we ever imagined. The staff is professional, courteous, fun, friendly and helpful. The grounds around the various lodgings are beautifully maintained. We played 4 of the 5 courses and experienced everything from blazing sunshine to drizzle - but I think that is part of the experience - true Scotland style variable weather! The golf courses are extremely well run. The starters were great. During our round at Bandon Dunes, we encountered friendly rangers who were positioned in certain areas to point you in the right direction (some confusing areas where you might mistakenly start playing on the neighboring course!). We ate at 3 restaurants, all were fantastic. We loved every minute of our trip and look forward to returning!

One of the worst golf resorts I have visited!
We made reservation and paid deposit for caddies weeks in advance and when we arrived first tee we were told no caddies were available.
We had dinner reservations made in advance for 3 nights and all of them were cancelled without letting us know in advance.
Golf courses are nice but service in general is very poor!!

This was my 4th time to Bandon Dunes and it just gets better every time. I have no idea how anyone is rating the complex anything under 4 stars. The golf courses are all amazing. Yes, it's a difficult place to get to but that's also what makes it special. If you want great food, then go to dinner somewhere nice. Bandon is all about the location, views and camaraderie that you get from a kick ass golf trip.
All of the food I've ever had there is well above average. The Old Mac breakfast sandwich is a home run and there is nothing wrong with the sauna and hot tub before or after golf. Better than Pebble Beach and Pinehurst any day of the week.

Sorry I've only seen people do it and saw a Ford truck get swallowed by the tide so don't leave a vehicle parked close to the surf.

Northwest room at "The Lodge" faces a portion of the 1st fairway of Bandon Dunes course, but the best view is out there playing the courses!
