We own a fractional in the Res Club at Pronghorn and can't understand why they aren't selling, currently you can purchase a 1/12 fractional for $1. Every time we go which is 4 times a year, the service is always excellent! We don't pay for a thing, linens, soap, paper towels, everything is paid for in our monthly dues. WE show up and vacation! People say the dues are too high, and we are shocked, do they not own a home! Home ownership is extremely expensive. We didn't want to own a home and visit it twice a year and have to work. We wanted to explore central Oregon, ride bikes, hike, play golf, drink good wine, fly fish and ski. The Res Club at Pronghorn is the best kept price for a fractional in the country! The service is wonderful - we just show up and enjoy. We have been going for 17 years and still have not run out of things to explore and do and if we don't want to go we are able to rent through Pronghorn and take the tax deduction! They are in the midst of updating all the furnishings in the units and no assessment for this either. Thank you.

My wife's niece was scheduled to run in an 100k in Bend, and we thought it might be a nice road trip to go up and see her and for me to play a little golf.
The day before we left, another wildfire broke out in the Medford area, so we didn't know quite what to expect. Sure enough, halfway there we got a call that because of a wind change, the run was cancelled.
Since we were already on the way, we decided to keep going, because this was the first time we had been away from home since January.
Needless to say the whole area was inundated with smoke. It wasn't horrible, so I ended up being able to play both the Nicklaus and the Fazio courses, and they were fun, challenging and equipped with some of the fastest greens I've seen in a long time. The staff at the golf course are friendly, helpful and really made the experience better.
The resort was beautiful (what we could see of it) but because of the conditions we never availed ourselves of the pool area which looked nice.
What we reserved was a standard king ADA unit with a living room, and I was glad we did. The king unit was very small, but the addition of the living room made for nice one bedroom suite. Because of Covid, there was no daily maid service but if you needed towels or toiletries you called the front desk and they would send it up.
It is not an inexpensive place to stay. Both the king bedroom and attached living room came to about $400 a night apiece. We did take advantage of of stay three night pay for two promotion which helped.
The living room unit comes with a refrigerator, stove, and large bathroom. One problem I had was with the thermostat which I think you have to be a Cal Tech grad to program. I finally had to call and get a maintenance guy come up and get it set and running for me.
There was only one restaurant open, Cascada, which we had one dinner and one lunch at, and the food was really, really good both times.
All in all, I think we would like to go back under better conditions. Be aware that you are quite aways from Bend itself if you want to explore what looked like a charming place (what we could see of it).

Such a beautiful place, the Huntington Lodge is beyond beautiful. So much attention to detail, w/all of the stone work on the outside & beautiful decor on the inside. The attention to detail in the lobby to the rooms really reminded me of the Headlands at the coast. We were on the 3rd floor facing the mountains, that’s what I’d recommend. Also, if traveling with more then 2-4 people, I’d recommend adding on the living room space. The living room adds a couch, fireplace, huge tv, dining room table, full kitchen, and another bathroom. This is where we did all the hanging out with our kiddos, and I can’t imagine having to hangout in the room with two beds the entire time.

The pool was open and heated, we tried it once, it was nice, but just not warm enough, to bad they didn’t have the hottub open.

Due to COVID, only one restaurant was opened for outdoor seating. They provided heaters and blankets, but seems under staffed. I’d also recommend that you make reservations for dinner as they could only seat like 5-6 different parties at a time.

If visiting for the first time, ask they about the cave tour, highly recommended.

Lastly, they’ve got a total of 3 pools, two of which were closed. So personally we cant wait to visit in summer.

Stay somewhere else and ignore the obvious and disingenuous artificial intelligence generated excuses in response to the very accurate negative reviews of this property. The Lodge is under resourced, staffed, furnished and managed. This property fails to meet basic expectations for a purported high-end resort. The staff is mostly apathetic and only able to offer explanations for the Lodge’s obvious deficiencies.

The Lodge's pricing is misleading. Our total daily room rate was significantly higher than the advertised rate. It is unclear exactly what the high resort fees include. The activities we explored required additional fees. Room availability was severely limited due to "housekeeping staff shortages." Our choices were a ground floor room with a view limited by an outdoor pool hedge or two other rooms with double beds and no chairs, tables or desks. Maid service must be specifically requested every day.

The hotel restaurant is below par as well. The combined lunch and dinner menu is very limited in scope. The food and service were inconsistent.

There is no sign of any management presence on the property. Management’s use of artificial intelligence to respond to negative reviews captures the Lodge's lackadaisical vibe regarding appropriate guest experience, value, staffing levels, furnishings and service. My suggestion is management use the following artificial intelligence prompt - "How can management and ownership improve guest experience and deliver value consistent with prices based on the many accurate negative reviews of the Lodge?"

This review does not include the Pronghorn golf courses separately managed by Troon.

Your feedback is highly valued, and we are committed to enhancing the experience for all our guests at Juniper Preserve. Here are a few points to address the comments received: Rate Discrepancy: It was noted that there was a difference between the advertised rate and the charged rate. Please be assured that a confirmation email with the detailed rate and fees is sent prior to arrival, allowing guests to review and address any concerns beforehand. Room Availability: We understand that limited availability over the past few weekends, due to weddings and other group events, may have caused inconvenience, particularly for guests wishing to change rooms. While we strive to accommodate all requests, room changes may not always be possible under these circumstances. Housekeeping Policy: For stays of two nights or less, we have an opt-in policy for housekeeping. This practice has become more common in recent years due to evolving societal norms. We have managers on staff and available, and we encourage you to reach out and request to speak with someone during your stay. This allows us to address any concerns promptly and enhance your experience while you're here. Thank you again for your feedback. We look forward to continually improving and providing an exceptional stay to our guests.

We recently stayed at Juniper Preserve and were quite disappointed with our experience. Despite the beautiful location and promising amenities, several issues marred our stay:

Club Level Voucher Issue: We paid for the club level, which the website stated included a daily voucher for breakfast and happy hour. However, upon checking in for our three-night stay, we received only one voucher. This was misleading and frustrating, especially since we paid an extra $200 per night for the club level room.

Voucher Confusion at Restaurant: When we tried to use the voucher at the Iris/Blu Bar restaurant, the manager said he didn't know about this voucher. According to the website, the voucher was supposed to include a glass of beer, wine, or a mocktail, and an appetizer. This lack of communication and coordination was very disappointing.

Lack of Towels at Outdoor/Hot Tub Area: There were no towels replenished at the outdoor/hot tub area, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the front desk was not staffed at all times, making it difficult to address this issue promptly.
No Access to Lounge with Continental Breakfast: The website promotes access to a lounge with a continental breakfast, but this was not available during our stay. This was another misleading aspect that added to our disappointment.

Limited Dining Options in Winter: Nothing is open during the winter except the Iris restaurant, where entrees are priced at around $60. Even an appetizer pizza costs $24. Additionally, the closest food options are a 30-40 minute drive away in Bend. This limited dining option was inconvenient and overpriced.

Understaffed Resort: You pay close to a $50 a day resort fee, but most of the resort was understaffed. There was no valet, no support with luggage (we were directed to the cart closet), and there were no towels by the hot tub.
After complaining about our experience, we got 2/3 of club level refunded back. We requested to be reimbursed in full for the club level because we would have saved money and just booked a room. While we appreciate the 2/3 refund, this does not make it okay for Juniper Preserve to falsely advertise what they offer. We will never stay here again and strongly caution anyone from booking at the Club Level. It is not worth it; they are not staffed enough to be priced as high as they are. Proceed with caution.

My wife and I were looking forward to a short break. We have stayed at Pronghorn before and enjoyed the lovely property and pools and amenities. This trip was awful and we will not be returning.

They have it back on cleaning rooms due to “COVID”. This would feel believable if they were forcing all employees to wear masks or take other such measures (they are not). It feels like a thinly veiled cost cutting measure. As a guest, you’re paying 400 a night and nobody to freshen the room in the morning, or get you fresh towels, or coffee.

The adult pool and hot tub were freezing. The pool heater is broken and according to staff, has been for a while. They can’t get someone to come out and fix it. Another unbelievable statement for a 4 star property. We are paying an outrageous amount of money - surely they can pay to get their pools fixed?

There is only one working restaurant with mediocre food. This is a problem because pronghorn is 30 minutes away from Bend and there isn’t much in the vicinity, so you’re sort of stuck.

The staff was pleasant and respectful. They tried their best. Its not them, it’s the hotels (mis) management that has turned us from repeat customers to people who will strongly advise their friends to never visit this place.

My review is fairly simple and yet, carries much weight as the result of such a bad experience. My partner and I made a dinner reservation at Trailhead Grill as well as a tee time for myself the following day. I’ve had Pronghorn on my list of golf courses since they opened. I’m a scratch golfer and work in the professional industry as well (tennis).

Upon arrival for dinner we were informed we were seating inside, even though our reservation was for outside. We were then sat in a dark back room with a large table of the most obnoxious guests of all time. (I realize that part is not always in their control). The waitress came to take our drink order quickly which was nice. But after that first interaction the service was painfully slow. We were never given a wine list even after requesting so I went to the front and got one on my own.

Then we ordered food, a beet salad and a Kalua pizza, easy things most bars can even master. The food took FOREVER, and we were never checked in with about freshening up drinks or anything. Finally the food arrived and we were so dejected that we didn’t order another drink in hopes to just be done with the place. My salad was decent, but the chicken on it was inedible it was so dry and chewy. My partner had the pizza and it was basically a freezer pizza that was reheated as it was chewy and the meat was dry. Again it took so long to get service that I told my partner to go to the car and I would just pay and leave.

I went to the front and the hostess was shoving food in her mouth as she asked if everything was okay. I said no, I’d like to speak to a manager and pay my tab so I can leave. The manager was less than worried about my feelings on the visit, I then let them know that I was canceling my tee time as well and that my group of 10-15 avid golf friends and I would absolutely be avoiding this place.

Disappointing would be an overstatement. From spotty WiFi to tasteless and expired food, rampant under staffing, lack of accountability and gross negligence on managing a stay. A good hotel would immediately take responsibility for problems (as in, when confronted with their failure to staff and serve breakfast at the club lounge, front desk staff said, “oh yeah, that’s an issue with food and catering,” with no effort to make it right).

The lodge and grounds are really beautiful. It is small which is nice. The Trailhead restaurant was very good. The other dining options were not available. Communication seemed to be an issue. Requests made to the front dest for fresh towels or light bulbs in the business center were not answered. So while the staff was very nice, the service is inconsistent. The internet is also very unreliable which was an issue for us as we were there on business and needing to do some work remotely. The property is about 20 minutes away from anywhere meaningful in Bend. There also seemed to be thin ceilings or the people above us were large and perhaps doing an in room HIIT workout.

Beautiful buildings and grounds, but missing the perks that justify the price. If I'm paying this amount, clean my room every day. Here, it's not available even if you call the front desk to request it. My piles of takeout containers? My lack of coffee? I have to make my own bed? Too bad, I just have to live with it. Especially with wildfire smoke so bad, I spent most of my spare time in the room, looking at a mess.

There are two hot tubs, but you can't use either one. They're either "closed for maintenance" or just closed during the time you wanna go there. To me, a luxury resort means drinking espresso in the hot tub and no dirty dishes in my room. Not here. And don't blame this on a "labor shortage"-- pay people appropriately and don't make them clean all check out rooms that have days' worth of dirt, and they'll come to work.

Staff was hard working and friendly, food was great, the golf course was beautiful, and the room was very nice too. We were in Room 213 of the main lodge with a great view of the golf course.

I think it would be difficult, do to the winter weather and the pool is closed. Only the hot tubs were running and you had to be brave since they were outside. I would say durning good weather there are lots of activities.
