Loved the property, really disappointed with our room.
We were given a handicapped room without the need for or request of, which wouldn’t matter, except that the location and comfort were sacrificed.
The room was directly above the trash dumpster, so quite noisy at closing time as staff from several kitchens/bars dump the day’s waste, and grumble about their wasted lives working. Bonus on Thursday morning when the city sanitation service shows up at 4:51 to dump the garbage, and a bit later when the recycling truck comes through—or Vice versa.
Likely due to reducing obstacles, there is no comfy chair, just two straight back chairs, only place to relax is the bed, which by the way is an EXCELLENT quality and appointed.

McMenamin's offers elegant rooms with comfortable beds, large bathrooms, room service, and fluffy terry cloth robes and towels just like other high-end luxury hotels. However, McMenamin's offers more than simply a nice place to stay. I might not choose McMenamin's for a quick overnight stay. But as a destination unto itself no question, this is the place to stay!
McMenamin's offers a fascinating and imaginative world that is not only relaxing but takes you to another place, an adventure in itself that is a luxury I find difficult to express.
I loved; the artwork, the themes throughout, the stories and references to music artists and songs, the headboard in my room, the soaking pool, all the food wherever you ate it, the outdoor fireplaces, wood paneling, the warm feel, the atmosphere, the people both other guests and McMenamin's staff. The list is endless.
Plus it was amazingly quiet. I did not hear neighboring rooms or bathrooms or even the public patio outside my building. All this is right in the heart of downtown Bend.

This was suggested to us by a friend who is a Bend local. We just stayed one night but ended up wishing we could stay longer! Room was pricey but worth it.

Room was luxurious, with 2 full bathtubs and spa-like amenities, bathrobes we used for the hot “soaking pool” which is a one of a kind experience! Our 2 person room ended up having a (secret?) pull out couch so we could fit our daughter. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the movie theater unfortunately where you can be served with a full dinner!

we did enjoy a pre-ski breakfast in the restaurant which was Uber-delicious, fast service got us in and out on our ski schedule. Biscuits to die for! And good cappuccinos.

My husband had enjoyed a flight of beer at night and they also had very reasonably priced bottles of local OR wine that I was looking for as a gift to our friends we were visiting.

Check in was a little overwhelming as there are many entrances, parking was hard to find, and check in area was not clearly marked from outside. But the experience improved from there. There was free parking in a small lot behind the hotel.

Brian who has worked here for about 20 years yelled at a family in the soaking pool with a special needs toddler. I was mortified as a guest witnessing it. She was about 2 years old with down-syndrome and was barely jumping from the edge into her Father's arms. I was mortified for them and they left the pool directly after. Our children (ages 14 and 15) were asked to leave the pool soon after even though the sign outside the door said they can be there without an adult. Later that evening, our teenagers as well as several adults attended a movie in the on-property theatre, and the kids lost the room key. Katlyn and Brian refused to let our kids back into the room and berated them about things that should have been adult discussions. They refused to talk to me when I approached them about what happened and what they said to my kids. They instead put their hands in my face and said "We are done. Children (teenagers) need to be with adults at all times while on property. Go back and enjoy your drink. " Between family and friends that were staying and dining there that night, over $1000 was spent to be treated horridly by staff-members. I have been to several McMenamin properties, and this was uncalled for to say the least. I hope that management does something to rectify as I see there are several reviews about this type of treatment calling out management, and Brian and Katelyn specifically. Uncool, Bend. I hope it's not okay with you to be a great establishment with terrible customer service. It will catch up to you.

We stayed in the main building of the Old St. Francis School for my 60th birthday. What a mistake! Price at over $360 per night, the ground-floor room looked out on a busy public walkway which afforded zero privacy. This wouldn't have been so bad (drapes can be closed), but the rooms themselves seemed to be lacking any soundproof materials; we heard every little sound from the adjacent rooms and were not able to get any sleep as a result. As to the food, it's the same tired fare that McMenamins has been serving for over 25 years. I think the Burger King menu has changed more over the last quarter century. Anyway, the rude staff, "loud" room, and uninspiring food made my 60th birthday one to forget.

I suppose if you like to party all night, then the Old St. Francis School would be a good place to stay. The other guests encountered were drunken twenty-somethings, enamoured with the manufactured "charm" of the place. If you want a good meal and some sleep, however, then avoid, avoid, avoid.

What a fun experience! So many different areas to eat, drink and hang out. My friend and I got a drink and walked the property looking at all the secret rooms and buildings. I loved the different vibes each building/area had. All the outdoor fireplaces were great and really helped us to keep warm while enjoying the outdoor patio areas. After wandering and drinking our libation we decided to go into the restaurant to eat. We decided to sit at the bar so we could sit down immediately and not have to wait. I ordered the Cajun tots which came highly recommended. I wasn’t so sure why so many people raved about them. Well now I can tell you! They were scrumptious! They were cooked perfectly crispy and the Cajun seasoning was sooooo good! The tater part of the tot wasn’t chunky but a perfect consistency. It was also served with a wonderful peppercorn ranch. YUM! If you go don’t miss out on them. My friend ordered the burger with tots and he said the burger was cooked perfectly, was juicy and had great flavor. The size was substantial and he even took half for his lunch for the next day.

I am so excited to plan on future visits to more of their properties.

Old St Francis School is where we originally discovered McMenamins and it's always a treat to return. We wondered in with a group of 9 and sat outside where a very typically friendly McMenamins character took good care of us. The pints and pub fare are always great. The property has grown since we discovered it, with McMenamins wonderfully weird and quirky specialty rooms.

Stayed here the last night of a long road trip. Staff were excellent and appeared to enjoy being there. The building was originally a catholic school and they did an excellent job of maintaining the look of the buildings. There are several old photos and an impressive amount of artwork. They have a couple of pubs on the grounds that serve beer wine and pub food along with one that serves breakfast. They also have a large mosaic soaking pool. This place is only slightly more expensive then other hotels in the area but provides enjoyable experience in addition to a good nights rest.

Looking at the website and reviewing the pricing, I chose McMenamins thinking it would be quaint and memorable. Parking is limited and I had chose it because of the pictures on their website. We did not get to stay in the Main Hotel/school, we stayed in another building which had no elevator as we carted our luggage up two flights of stairs. Let’s just say for the price it was a big disappointment.

Great hotel stay for 4 nights while exploring Bend. Great location, downtown, and near Drake Park and the river walk. Love the quirkiness of McMenamins properties. The outdoor bar and restaurants in the central courtyard was relaxing, and quite busy, as were the 2 other bar/restaurants on the property. The salt-water soaking pool was exquisite - not as hot as a hot tub, more like a huge, warm bath in a beautiful setting. The little extras are impressive - cozy robes to wear to the spa, morning coffee near your room. Highly recommend!

I was in only one room so I can't answer. In fact I can't recall if there was a TV at all. There was a small sound system that handles Apple products. Since I have a Droid that was useless. Wonderful room however! Contact the hotel.
