Enjoy your stay in Bend!
I have stayed at Loge twice this month. The atmosphere, encouraging interaction with others and a relaxed setting, appealed to me. The design of the rooms is unique and tasteful - in an outdoorsy sort of way. The cost is much more reasonable than other places in Bend. It is located just at the edge of Bend. You can take one of the bikes and explore the trails by the lodge. There is some food at the lodge; Tetherow Golf Resort with 2 restaurants is about 1/2 mile away. You can rent a folding kayak or SUP at the front desk.
It took three different key pad numbers from reception desk in restaurant as the original that was emailed and texted to us didn't work. Two young employees came over and got it opened but the safety lock was latched so couldn't get in. I guess they weren't "stoked" to see us as their email and text/ email said. This is a place for 20 something skiers and Mtn bikers who probably don't mind bath towels with holes and stained pillow cases in and a slow draining single sink. The hammock was a nice rest one afternoon after a hike on the trails next to the parking lot. If you stay here in the winter to ski up the road there is a portable plug in heater. We appreciated the great hot shower.
The rooms are basic but one thing I noticed right away is that the hotel has done away with all the "amenities" I never use in a hotel room (no dresser, no phone, no alarm clock, no random chairs) and replaced them with actual useful things (bottle opener, camp blanket, multiple ports to charge electronics). Then there was the hammock, which provide a good 20 minutes of entertainment as we tried to get in it while not falling off the bed. The walls are thin, though, and our neighbors were not quiet. Cell service in the room was practically nonexistent. Our phones would ring inside but we had to go outside to get a signal strong enough to be heard by the people on the other end of the call. And, the reception for the tv was so poor we just gave us trying to watch it.
Great property for family, friends, biz retreat or romantic trip. It feels like you're far from it all in the woods with adventurous biking trails, but also minutes from downtown or Mt. Bachelor. Fantastic big hot tub and pool, both extremely clean. They just need to centralize the pool towels or have checkout system, either way post a sign of how to obtain one. I understand if they have to keep them locked up, as they all went MIA, so we never got one. We loved the hammocks in the room, so nice to relax after a long drive or day of activities. They have gas firepits in a few areas to chill in the evenings, meet new people & roast marshmallows. Also, BBQ's in seating areas, to grill up your own food, was nice option. The contactless check-in system is great, loved not having to carry a keycard around & just using code. They advertised free street bikes w/locks during your stay, which was great for riding into town, but they are not allowed on the trails, so bring your own or you can rent really nice suspension from Loge. They provide bike washing & tune-up station, plus secure hooks in your room to hang them up. They truly thought of it all. The Cafe is a cool, modern space for having a drink, food, play games and had ample space to spread out, plug in laptop to get some work done with a delicious cup of coffee. I do hope they start offering complimentary coffee in the mornings, one day they did, the next day they didn't. It would help if they put a clear sign up so guests are not just searching or standing around waiting for counter help. They have delicious bacon or sausage breakfast sandwiches, overpriced at $8/ea, but great quality, fresh, large, filling & saved us a trip into town. There is no food menu, other options looked like muffin or cookie, and nothing after breakfast hours. I don't drink beer, but it was on tap & available for sale all day, as well as cold non-alcoholic beverages. The check-in email indicated a happy hour, but didn't see anything at Cafe about it, but heard it was a $1 off beer. We had a few issues with our room and customer service, but the corporate office was there & assured me they are remodeling & working on all of it, so not going to complain here. I want to thank the management for taking our feedback seriously & resolving the issues above and beyond. I know they have a vision of excellence that will make this Loge an even better experience next time! Thank you for everything!…
Arrived at Loge Bend expecting a casual refurbished motel with lots of outdoor space. Our room was on the busy highway (yuck) and we immediately noticed a foul odor outside our door. Room was ok- all Ikea furniture, tiny bathroom, lumpy foam mattress but whatever. We called front desk about the odor but no one EVER picked up over our 2 night stay. We went to office and were told we’d hear from management about the disgusting odor. Nope. There are no actual employees at this motel as far as we could tell. Next day we went back and asked to talk to a manager, but the sole employee on campus seemed completely overwhelmed and would not even tell us the name of a manager. She seemed to be running the motel, cafe, gift shop and all maintenance BY HERSELF. At this point a bearded hipster came to lobby and told us that we should “go back where we came from” and that we had no right to complain about sewage outside our room. Apparently he was the king of Bend. 10 hours before check out we received a text from the same number that gave us our check in instructions, and it said we would be comped for our stay. But still no contact with an actual named human. Offered us a new room at 10pm before our checkout the next morning. And guess what? They charged our credit card for our stay after we left. This seems to be one of the worst managed motel companies ever!!!!…
