Riverhouse Lodge's amenities are often lauded for their comfort and variety, including the luxury of fire pits and river views. The hotel's prime location offers scenic seclusion near downtown, which, coupled with its spotless rooms and conscientious housekeeping, greatly enhances its appeal.
While the Riverhouse is commended for its modern and cozy atmosphere, guests have experienced issues with bookings and renovations. Opinions on value vary, but the service is generally celebrated for its helpfulness, despite occasional reported inconsistencies.

Hotel's Favourite
This was my first time in Bend Oregon and staying at the River House on the Deschutes. I had a river facing room and it was amazing. Super convenient to downtown I would absolutely stay here again. I ate at the restaurant for dinner one night and breakfast a falling morning and both work great.

Greetings! It was an honor to have hosted you for your first time in the beautiful Bend. We are thrilled to know that you appreciated our comfortable accommodations and scenic views of the incredible Deschutes River. Our short distance to Downtown makes it incredibly easy to enjoy all the activities that the city has to offer, and we are happy to know you were able to take advantage. We're so glad that you were able to dine with us at our delicious on-site restaurant, Currents, and that it was a delectable experience. We are already looking forward to hosting you again soon!

I would give this hotel a better review but for the lack of housekeeping services which we were not alerted to until the day before our stay . We stayed 4 nights in a superior pet friendly ground floor room. We love how specious it was, especially with two sinks in the bathroom and plenty of space around the beds.
It’s not a fancy hotel although it looks like the room we stayed in Had been redone in the last 5 years .
The pool is large and goes to 6’, great for older kids . Housekeeping was friendly enough when we asked for more towels etc, it was just weird to leave dirty towels and garbage outside your room especially when paying about $500/night for the room after taxes and a $35/night pet fee .

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I’ve had the pleasure of staying here a few times now. The rooms are cozy, some rooms have fire places, some have fire pits. I’ve always had a room with a full bathroom plus another sink, which is helpful when 2 people are trying to get ready at the same time. There’s a newly remodeled restaurant that is a very short walk from any of the rooms, most within 2 min, and includes a spacious bar area and a pool table. The Deschutes River runs below most of the rooms, which creates a wonderful atmosphere when sitting on the balcony or while enjoying the fire pits - how often do you have that opportunity to enjoy the sounds of a river and the beauty of a fire pit at the same time? It’s also a great location as it’s a short drive to downtown or Old Mill - my 2 favorite places to walk around and grab coffee. I look forward to a summer visit when it’s nicer to walk around.

PROS: 1.) In the midst of bustling traffic, Riverhouse gives the appearance of an oasis far from the city center due to it's partially lush setting on a river. 2.) The on-site Currents restaurant, when open, is a lovely setting for a very good dinner (except when ash from Oregon fires is floating through the outdoor air & landing in your drinks & food). CONS: 1.) The hotel has major problems with communication. Weeks before my planned stay, I emailed to determine if they offered a room rate inclusive of breakfast since their website offered breakfast with some room types, but I didn't see it with my room type. They never responded. 2.) I chose a "Riverview" room (& was assigned a ground floor room, # 3101) specifically because it was described as having a river view, but it had NO river view. I suspect that no ground floor rooms have a river view as the river is in a gorge way below the room or the patio. For a river view, you would have to be on a higher floor. 3.) The room had a newly installed fire pit on the patio, & this came at a higher room rate disclosed in advance; although I chose it when making my reservation, I did not find it a useful ammenity. If it matters to you, note that the room patios/balconies on the ends of each motel building (3101, 3201, etc.) offer extra large outdoor space compared to those in the middles of the building. 4.) I went to the hotel restaurant, Currents, for breakfast at 8:15 am on my 2nd day. Breakfast supposedly starts at 7 am according to the printed info I received at check-in. But, at 8:15 am, there was no hostess, no wait staff, & no customers anywhere to be seen. I waited for a while at the hostess stand (where the previous evening's menu was still displayed) without seeing anyone pass by, but I eventually left without being acknowledged & went to a nearby restauant instead. Note that the Front Desk is in full view of the restaurant's hostess stand, but no one there was paying attention to the restaurant. 5.) At check-in, I was advised by Sean that housekeeping was provided only upon advance request so I requested it for the next day, & he assured me he had arranged it for me. However, although I was out all the next day from 8 am to 6 pm, I returned to my room at night to find unmade beds, towels still on the shower floor, & trash still in the baskets exactly as I had left them. CONCLUSION: Stay somewhere else.

Thank you, Rick, for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the peaceful setting along the river and had a chance to experience a lovely dinner at Currents. Our riverside location truly provides a calming retreat amidst the bustle of Bend, Oregon, and we’re happy you appreciated that aspect of your stay. The Riverview rooms are a favorite among guests, and our Firepit rooms offer large patios just 20 feet from the riverbank. This allows our guests to enjoy not only the view but also the relaxing sounds of the Deschutes River while spending quality time with friends and family around the firepit. Our second-floor rooms may have provided the view you were expecting, and we appreciate your thoughts on the different options we offer. We hope you had time to explore the local attractions, whether it was hiking in the area or visiting nearby Bend breweries. We strive to provide a seamless and enjoyable stay for all our guests, and we would love to welcome you back in the future. Our General Manager is always available if you'd like to discuss your stay further, and we’re confident we can make your next visit even more memorable.

What a beautiful view! This hotel really emphasizes its anti-pet, anti-children establishment. We arrived in town early with my large breed dog and 7 and 9 yo kids. Asked for early check in and happy to pay fee, but it was not provided. “We don’t really have an area for pets” when asked where to let my dog out. Was informed outdoor pool was closed for servicing, a key feature with kids on a hot summer trip. Painting was happening, so strong odors filled the air. When we did get to our room at 4pm, a strong chemical smell remained that woke me multiple times a night. I hope it was safe for my family. Guests in other rooms also reported the same. When the smell didn’t wake me, the old loud AC did as it cycled. I tried to crack windows, but there were no screens. Sliding door also no screen and off track, so no sneaking out to catch some fresh air without waking kids more. My pillows smelled of pet (mine hadn’t been on bed) and my eyes swelled and sneezing ensued. No food delivery, so ordered with limited options on Uber Eats (difficult to leave kids alone to pick up food, a hassle to drag them back and forth). Kids tried to watch TV and join a scheduled Zoom class, but internet “was being reset” where no signal available intermittently throughout our multi day stay, required by the two day minimum. Verizon hotspot 1-2 bars, so my backup also didn’t work. “When you run out of coffee pods, please come to desk.” I did and they were out of creamer. I looked for non drowsy allergy med at hotel store, but only found two rows of Trojans. At this point birth control was sounding like a great idea, but only because we lacked services that makes vacation easier with pets and kids: outdoor pool, food delivery, coffee, enclosed off leash dog run. Did I mention my unclean, chemically treated, loud room without food service, without working pool and no notice on booking was $900?! And I could not actually see river from room unless standing up. A lover of Bend, I have stayed at many better options in the area for much less and with amenities.

We just spent the weekend at Riverhouse Lodge, and I can't recommend it enough! The recent remodel feels fresh and modern while still maintaining a cozy atmosphere.
The rooms with river views are like having your own private cabin; the serene scenery is a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Plus, the rates are very reasonable for the quality you receive.
The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional!
The location is ideal—just a quick 5-minute drive to downtown and the Old Mill District, yet it feels secluded. Being dog-friendly was a huge plus for us, and there are plenty of great hiking trails and access to the river walk right from the property.
I can’t wait to return to Riverhouse Lodge!

Thank you, for such a thoughtful and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that your weekend at Riverhouse Lodge was peaceful, relaxing, and filled with moments to enjoy the beautiful riverside setting. Our recent remodel was designed to offer a fresh, modern feel while keeping the cozy charm that makes our lodge so special, so it's wonderful to hear that resonated with you. The river-view rooms really do bring a “private cabin” experience, and we’re glad you found it as serene and relaxing as we do. Our team strives to create exceptional stays, and it’s fantastic to know their efforts made a positive impact on your visit. Our location truly offers the best of both worlds—close enough to downtown Bend and the Old Mill District yet secluded enough to feel like a true retreat. It’s great that you and your pup enjoyed the dog-friendly amenities and the trails that start right from our property. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back to explore even more of Bend, Oregon, and to create more relaxing memories along the Deschutes River!

We originally thought, this is a beautiful hotel, nice receptionist, great location.
We were assigned a room quickly, and it was in the building across the River. Get to the room and the door is open, there is a snow shovel and some boxes with business supplies in the room. We had to drive back down to the office to get a new room. We got a new room and it was great the first night. Fireplace with river view.
2nd night, we’re relaxing and at 930pm, we hear someone trying to get in our room. We Jump up and 3 people are at the door. They were assigned our room!!!! Our people we talked to last night told us it happened multiple times last year when they were at a convention.
For this reason alone, we will never be back. It is incredible dangerous and negligent to continue to assign rooms to more than 1 person. NO excuse for this to happen so much. I have stayed at over 100 hotels in the last fees years, and this has never happened. To have it happen both nights of our stay is ridiculous.
The other problem was the pool and hot tub location. You go in the area you check on at, then you have to go downstairs and outside, across the outside pool area and into the building. There is no changing area in the pool building, so if you want to change, you have to walk across toward the hotel and use the outside bathroom. Very weird to have the changing room so far away.
It is a beautiful pool and hot tub though

Thank you, Michelle, for taking the time to provide detailed feedback about your stay. While we’re glad you appreciated the beautiful setting, friendly receptionist, and your initial experience with the fireplace and river view, we understand there were serious issues that impacted your visit. Ensuring guest privacy and security is a priority, and we’ll be addressing this directly with our team to prevent similar situations in the future. Your experience highlights an area we must improve to maintain the trust and comfort of our guests. Regarding the pool and hot tub setup, we appreciate your perspective. While the facilities are designed to provide a serene experience, we recognize that the layout and lack of nearby changing areas can be inconvenient. This feedback helps us evaluate how we can improve access and convenience for our guests. We deeply value your comments and understand why you feel hesitant about returning. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, our General Manager is available to connect with you. Your feedback is essential as we work toward providing a safer and more seamless experience for all of our guests. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention.

Riverhouse Lodge was an excellent stop for us. Our room (a one-bedroom suite w/patio & gas fireplace) was spacious, clean, and wonderfully comfortable. We were traveling with two big dogs so the dog-friendly policy & availability of a large room were priorities. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient, as was the wait staff at Currents. We will definitely stop here again when we are in the area.

Nice big room with a separate seating room with a second TV. Unexpected but the TV connection to the cable service wasn’t working and maintenance couldn’t fix or reset it. On the TV by the bed, Netflix popped up with our account but never loaded past 24%. So, great presentation but not performance.
The bed was comfortable.
In Steelhead, Room 2101 which was next to the entry door, and that entry door needs a pad on the swing pad because without it, it clangs loudly when it closes. Or put a spring on the door so it closes quietly.
The shower needs to be scrubbed to remove the orangey grout mold. Needs a little simple 10 minute cleaning with a little scrub brush.
The HVAC blows directly on the bed which is not optimal for sleeping so I moved the chair between to deflect it.
So, attention to smaller details would increase the customer’s experience into the excellence category but it takes a little more time and is worth it.
For the price, some improvements are needed because other similar properties will not have these issues.

After great communication leading up to our reservation we enjoyed a smooth check in with very friendly & helpful staff. Our beautiful & spacious room overlooking the river. We loved the bridge going across the river to get to the main building. Closed the screen at night so we could fall asleep & wake up to the sound of the river. Housekeeping was so sweet, they helped us find our room & on another occasion brought us more coffee pods when I saw them in the hall. Coffee on the deck in the morning was a perfect start. Only wish we’d of had more time to enjoy Currents on the deck which looked stunning or a drink at their large bar.
