Detailed Reviews
This campground is in a wonderful location. Close enough to town if you need something but far enough away to be quiet. You are right on the lake. The sites are very large and the loops are easy to navigate. We found the staff to be not so friendly. They are more worried about rule enforcement than providing friendly, welcoming service to families. We constantly felt like we were being watched and guarded. The bathroom facilities were old and not the cleanliest. The swimming hole is filled with mud, sand, and long grass and is not well maintained for swimming.

We used to camp here all the time. It was nice a swimming area for the kids, you can pull your boat in if you get a site on the water. Now as the police state ramps up everything is illegal with big fines. I thought this was to be a crack down on under age drinking and noise issues. No, we were sitting by the camp fire and "policers" were in the bushes spying on campers. I am guessing it was to catch "illegal drinkers" and get the fine payments. For the record we are over 50 and were not drinking and I did not observe anyone being noisy or any under age drinking so was a bit odd to have spies in the bushes.

I was hoping for a nice campsite in the woods, but we got more of an RV/city park, with campsites crammed together around a big loop. There are some nice trees, but it certainly isn't in the woods, and is right next to the highway.
The lake is beautiful, but swimming locations at the campsite are pretty scarce.
A bit dumpy; our fire pit was filled with trash and egg shells and other gross stuff that we had to clean ourselves. Woman at the front was a bit rude as well (nothing terrible, just not the most welcoming)
The bathrooms are nice and there is a little playground for the kids if that's what you're in to.
All in all, if you're looking to "camp" without leaving your comfort zone whatsoever, this is the place for you. But if you're looking for some real camping with a little privacy, look elsewhere.

We camped at this campground with friends for 2 days, this place is ridiculous. They are so STRICT, we felt like we were being harassed. Our noise level could only be loud enough to be heard in our campsite, which we have 2 campsites. Park rangers came multiple times harassing us about how many vehicles we had when your allowed up to 3 vehicles per site when we had four 2 per campsite. We had to pour out our alcohol instead of just put it away. On the website it says u pay $6 per vehicle it doesn't say u pay $6 a day and we got charged $12 for 2 days. State police drive by within the campsite multiple times and have never stop to tell us we are being to loud or out of hand. But yet in the middle of the day we have had park rangers come and tell us we are loud when there should be no curfew in the middle of the day. It's pretty bad when peoples RV generators are louder then us and our music. So if u want to have fun with family and friends while trying to camp I definitely advise to steer clear from here!!!!!!!

We had a wonderful time! The park hosts were some of the sweetest people. The park Rangers came around everyday and had goodies for the kids and were so friendly. Beautiful views, very well kept. Great place for family's! Everyone is quiet at 10pm until about 7am so peaceful. Also across the street are some more amazing people who sell great fire wood at a great price and goodies. The only bad experience from this trip is rude people flying down the main road honking their horn and yelling around 11pm after the entire campground is quiet.

We were at the boat launch area yesterday 7/2/15 and the water is so low the boat dock is almost out of the water. I saw a couple of rangers, warning all kids under 12 are supposed to have a life preserver on when on a water craft and there is a $350 per kid ticket I have a friend that got 2 tickets last year one for his 11 yr old and one for the 9 yr old they were on the side of the lake on a blow up raft with the parents there and both swim like fish. The rangers said the primitive launch is closed due to low water.

We have camped here a number of times, and love it. There is a playground and roped off swimming area. The paved paths are great for bike riding. The showers are warm and although the bathrooms are basic it is nice to have running water and showers. The spaces are large and you can park on the side of the road to avoid the extra car fee. I also loved how close it was to Cottage Grove. We loved having the option of fast food, grocery stores, and Walmart within a 10 minute drive.

Place was beautiful but the people running the place are rude and nosey. They are constantly patrolling the area and watching your every move and one toe out of line they will "talk" to you. The bathrooms were often out of toilet paper and not very clean and had no soap to wash your hands with. The "swim" area was just mud and grass, we had to drive a mile down the road to swim. We ended up leaving a day early because they told us we were being too loud and our dog was on too long of a leash when all the other dogs in the camp had the same as us. They were really rude and I will never stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights with 3 of our children and 1 of their significant others. The lake itself is beautiful as are the sunsets. The shoreline, however, is very muddy, and our kids sank in the mud when trying to get into the water. We brought along 3 small tents for each of our children to sleep in. Our site (#26) was very large, and had a big, grassy area, where we set up the tents for the kids. However, we got in trouble for having more than two tents up, and had to take one down. Our youngest was very disappointed that he had to sleep in our trailer "with mom and dad", instead of sleeping in his own tent. We didn't know this ahead of time (our own fault for not checking) but this is a "dry" campground, and alcohol is not allowed. Several times per day, rangers (in groups of two or three) walk by, checking to make sure everyone is following the rules. We are not loud, don't play music, follow the rules, etc., and it felt intrusive. When our son was loading up his car to leave, a ranger came by to tell him to get his car off the grass (he was loading his things up, and was only on the grass for a few minutes). We have camped a LOT in our lifetime, and have enjoyed the family experience with our children, but will not be back to this particular camp ground. It's really unfortunate, as it's so pretty, and the sunsets breathtaking. We will be making family memories elsewhere.
