I made reservations for a room about a month in advance and found out only the cabins are pet friendly. I called and they had one cabin left at the same price as the room for my dates (lowest rate cabin) We stayed in Newberry. It was definitely dated and small for a family of 4. We didn't really mind the dated look as it reminded us of the cabins from Montana, our second home.. The bathroom was so tiny and I could barely fit in the mirror to wash my hands. 🤣 When we arrived we had to unload our car by the office and load everything up on a Polaris? Your not allowed to drive to your cabin. So you must truck it by foot anytime you need to go to your car. Check in was a breeze. The lady that works in the kitchen was the one who helped us to our cabin in the Polaris. She was amazing super friendly and helpful. Deffinatly consider only coming up with AWD vehicles. My 2WD got stuck a few times. An older gentleman helped me when I left. He was a bit grumpy but dealing with a dits when it comes to 2WD in the snow maybe I would have been too. Salt Creek Falls is a short drive from here for fun tubing and sledding. I was under the impression there was wifi but unfortunately there was not and barely cell service. We had to drive to the closet town to download some movies to watch. A lot of cabin pictures show TVs but there was not one. We brought everything to cook meals (6) but the fridge was so tiny. Upon leaving housekeeping checked in with me. She mentioned her son had came up the night before and they lit up the sledding area behind our cabin and all the kids sled until midnight. We didn't know about this hill unfortunately or we would have been sledding till midnight!

We had a delightful lunch, overlooking the lake. Dining on the patio on a sunny day, enjoying the lake view, is wonderful. The menu is limited but offers several tasty items: we enjoyed the daily special of a BLTA on a croissant.

Beautiful Setting! Lovely staff. We showed up on a Sunday and planned to stay until Wednesday. Unfortunately, my husband was unable to sleep on the wonky bed and we decided to leave early. At our expense. I perhaps made a mistake taking the less expensive room. It is very rustic, and that part was okay. Sadly, they must have a really low budget on repairs. The legs on the head of the bed were stacked on magazines and it was still not level. There were a couple pieces of plywood under the mattress that sounded like you were cutting down trees when you moved. You will have fun at Odell but please, don't let them put you in room 22 (or Odell Creek Room). Also, you can't get in that room if anyone is coming in or out of the public bathrooms!
If you want Luxury, go elsewhere. But if you are looking for a fun, rustic resort, this is the place.

It was our very great pleasure to stay once again at Odell Lake Resort. This is the third time we have stayed with a group here and its been loads of fun every time. Odell lake is just rustic enough to feel like an adventure, but there were plenty of creature comforts to placate the less adventurous folks in our group. This time around the snow was insane (4 feet while we were there), but the lodge did a marvelous job plowing the roads so we could get in and out for our snow adventures. You can't beat the location for access to alpine ski areas and epic snowshoeing trails. We were able to rent everything we needed conveniently and cost effectively at the lodge, from sleds to snowshoes. Our 3 year old daughter especially appreciated the horse-drawn sled ride and visits with the three Clydesdales. What a cool touch! And thanks to Vonda for some really epic fire-side hot toddies after a long day of playing in the snow! -Annie Pollard, Coos Bay, Oregon.

I found this haven 2 years ago by accident when a snowstorm came through and I couldn't get home and everything along the highway was full; NO VACANCIES! I met a nice man in a restaurant who recommended I check here. I absolutely fell in love with it! This is a family-owned lodge and cabins with a small in-lodge cafe and accommodating, friendly staff. It is absolutely beautiful in the winter, with the heavy blanket of snow, and the quiet surroundings. It sits on a hill, right at the summit of the Willamette Pass (around 5100 ft. elevation), and overlooks Odell Lake which is apparently a popular summer recreation area. I have never been in the summer, so unsure about that and I've never stayed in the cabins. What I love is the lodge, and although it may not be for everybody, it is a very old lodge built in 1940, but the property has been a summer resort since the turn of the century. They have remodeled some rooms so my bathroom was very pretty with tiled shower and large shower head :). Beds are very comfortable and very warm. We had a small electric fireplace in our room which adds to the charm. There is a large room with sofas, games, and a HUGE fireplace downstairs. You can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner right there-no need to leave (unless you need medical attention). During the week you can use sleds, snow shoes, and alpine skis for free and lots of places to hike right on the property! And the price is amazing! I come here for ME time and to relax and look at the snow. Frankly, I hate giving this review for fear my favorite room will be booked next time. (I'm not going to mention which one it is!) Be prepared that the snow gets packed onto the outside stairs which can be slippery and the stair carpet is very worn and some areas show the age of the lodge, but with quotes from "The Velveteen Rabbit" on the wall in the hallway alongside the history of the family and resort I find it delightful and charming and will return every winter that I possibly can.

We went at the dark of the moon but forest fires defeated us. Never the less the day time viewing included: Big Hole & Hole in the ground, ancient meteor strike sites just off Hwy 31. Plenty of interesting Forestry Service roads for the slightly more adventurous and we actually saw (very briefly) a Grey wolf cross the road in front of us. Wow! Waldo Lake is worth a visit especially for non-motorised water users.

Accommodation is basicand a little quirky here and there but comfortable beds, pleasant staff, good food in the restaurant although they were suffering from staff shortages.

Lovely quiet place to stay and we'll be going back after the fires have stopped for another dark sky attempt.

The lake is beautiful and the lodging is fine, but we were treated pretty indifferently by the woman at the front desk. She seemed impatient about our questions and simple requests. The lodge also claims to have Wi-FI, but that is a joke; we couldn’t connect to the service at all during our three-day visit.
Bottom line: if you care about being treated nicely as a paying guest, this place will be disappointing.

We reserved a spot about 6 months ago, paid for the spot and a room for our parents had every intension of coming on Sept 16th - Sept 20th. Unfortunately the fires have taken place, the poor air quality is at its all time worst and we asked to please cancel and get a refund. We were told NO, the owner will not allow a refund to take place. We are coming from Portland area and was told to go way out of our way to go through Bend to take the back way in because hwy 58 is completely shutdown for the next 2 weeks. According to ODF it is unsafe to go to that area due to the current 86,700+ acres of wildfire taking place to the west of Odell Lake and Resort.
This is absolutely unacceptable from any type of establishment especially when it's something completely out if our control!

I joined a group of friends at Lake Odell this week. Before we went I searched for real information about this place, and it was minimal. We stayed in the Fishing Creel (cabin #1). I thought it probably had electricity and an outhouse, which was OK since it was a sort of a camping destination. Our cabin had a small shower, toilet and a sink in a little niche in the main room. It had a table and 4 chairs, a loveseat, a small frig, a kitchen sink and a full sized stove with burners and an oven. We had a fully stocked kitchen with utensils, plates, glasses, mugs, a coffee maker, dish soap, towels and dishrag. There were ample towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo and conditioner. The double bed and twin bunks had soft and nice blankets, coverlets, sheets and pillows. There is a very cozy cast iron gas stove, controlled by a thermostat and a radiator in the bedroom for extra warmth. The tap water was cold and delicious! Most impressive, the staff was helpful, kind and welcoming. We had lunch in the restaurant, and the food was great. The lake is gorgeous and has famously huge lake trout. They’ll rent you any kind of water craft, and there are horses on property that you can visit or pay to ride or pull a carriage or sleigh, depending on the season. We had a terrific time and think you will too!

Booked a two night stay at one of the cabins. Had to alter our plans several times due to illness and the staff was very helpful. We stayed in Bear's Den even though it was just the two of us. Nicely appointed and comfortable. Wood stove was a nice addition though we did suggest the either having kindling either available, or to sell in bundles, would be a good idea.
Food in the lodge was good and reasonably priced. A few things were unavailable on the menu but that was not surprising since we were there mid-week in early March. We did not consider ourselves inconvenienced in any way.
Mitchell was our driver/guide for the horse drawn sleigh ride which was excellent. it was also something that was on my bucket list so now whenever I hear the song "Sleigh Ride" at Christmas, I will be able to say, "I've done that!" The actual ride was a decent length of time and the route was very pretty. It was well worth the price which was not out of line at all. For anyone thinking the price might be a bit high (we didn't) they need to remember that getting a horse harnessed up and unharnessed afterwards for something like that takes almost as long as the actual ride. And make sure to tip your driver!!!
We are planning (hoping) to make this an annual event. Kudos and thank yous to Maddie and Vonda as well for making our stay an enjoyable one (and for putting up with our reschedulings).
