We stayed at this property once again on 05/16 arriving at 1600. When traveling the coast, we try to make our stop the Driftwood Shores. All the rooms face the ocean. When I made the reservation, I had requested an upper floor and we were given room 422. I have always found the front desk staff to be very friendly and accommodating.
The room was a double and came equipped with a full kitchen including range/oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, full size refrigerator and a place setting for six.
Both beds were amazingly comfortable and had 4 pillows. The sliding door blocked all outside wind noise and the balcony was large enough so the two of us could sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the threatening sky.
Due to the ’rona the restaurant is only open for dinner from 1600 – 2000, Tuesday – Saturday and as we stayed on a Sunday were not able to sample the cuisine. The pool is open but reservations must be made for a 2 hour period of time.
The hotel is getting long in the tooth and needs a freshen up but such as it is, this is still a genuinely nice place to stay with direct ocean access to some of the best sand dollar hunting on the coast.
Cost of the one-night stay was $161.00 before taxes. All staff encountered were very friendly.
Recommend you try the Driftwood Shores when traveling the Oregon Coast.

It is getting older and shopworn, but that's a comment on the days we live in. Prices are still up but no daily room cleaning. I didn't come here to empty garbage and make beds.

I know room cleaners must be hard to find, but after I stay three nights, I'm not going to tip the cleaner on the number of days. So they get a one day tip. Good for the business, not for the workers.

We stayed here for 2 nights in room 115 and the TV kept going in and out, so it was difficult to relax and watch TV. On the 2nd night in the evening the sound quit working on the TV so my partner called the front desk and they sent a security person to try and get the sound working again, but he couldn't get it working. So we just turned off the TV and went to bed. When we were getting up and getting ready before we check out I tried the TV again and the sound was working again but the TV kept going in and out.

The room above us was a room with 2 queen beds in their and we believe that it was a family staying in the room above us with kids. The kids kept running back and fourth and it sounded like loud stomping, but luckily it didn't happen all night. When the TV was working properly (not very often) it help drown out the sound of the kids that were running back and forth upstairs in the room above us.

Both things were very frustrating and we could not really relax and enjoy our stay as we hoped to. When we checked out the people in the office gave us a 10% discount for the inconvenience. So ask for the 4th floor so that you don't have to worry about anyone above you making load noises.

Older hotel, but the rooms have been kept renovated and newer looking. The shower and bathroom looked very new. Plenty of space and a balcony overlooking beautiful ocean. You can walk right outside the hotel for a long time on one of the largest beaches I’ve ever seen.

I'd like to say that the view from our room was spectacular with beautiful ocean views. Unfortunately, the room was disgusting and not COVID safe. Nothing was wrapped and marked as clean like other places that we have stayed in. The bed covering was a thin sheet duvet with a very thin blanket. That's it! My husband called the restaurant and the recording stated that take out food from the restaurant was available. This was not the case. The restaurant was not operating at all. We had to drive into town to eat. The tub was stained with rust, and the whole room smelled terrible! The room felt like a stripped down dorm room. It was not cozy and inviting at all. This hotel desperately needs a full renovation.

I'm sorry that your stay didn't meet your expectations. Your comments are important to us and to be able to share your thoughts with the approprate staff will help us improve. Our covid cleaning practices are targeted towards sanitation and limiting the touch points in the room. We removed many of the in room amenities as a precaution. At check in the desk agent should have informed you that our restaurant was closed and that a list of restaurants were available to you. We are in our final phase of room renovations and hope you will return when the risk level allows us to open the restaurant and indoor pool. My appoligies for our short coming.

When I first arrived to check in I see a sign on the front door saying "Mask Required or No Entry, No exceptions" So I was like dang okay their taking this serious. So I put on my mask and enter and to my surprise the two employees are not wearing masks, I guess they are the exception?

Go to the front counter and stand there Awkwardly for 30 seconds then I'm pretty much greeted with a "what do you need" type look. So I quietly hand in my ID and CC and check in. My wife even noticed the staff was cold and brought it up as we were walking to the room. So far not very impressed with this "Resort"

Take the elevator and it reeks of cigarettes. The exterior reminds me of outdated 80s motel. My room was located in this mini halfway which again smells like cigarettes. The room was on the small side and it had the doors between rooms which became annoying considering I could hear the people next door like they were talking to me. Went to turn on the TV and the remote was all gross and sticky. Just ended up using the controllers on TV. The bed sheets are like sandpaper and the comforter is paper thin. Got cold at night with the paper thin blanket and turned on the heat and noticed the gross vent on the wall directly over the bed. This was only 6ft from the floor so it'd be easy to clean.

Between the price of the room, the rude stuff and the Constant smell of cigarettes I don't think I will be returning. It's to bad. The place has allot of potential considering it's basically on the beach, but I think the hotel is content with the lower quality hotel accommodations knowing the beach access is the biggest selling point.

Other than the fact that one of the receptionist was not wearing a mask, there was a plexiglass guard, during covid, the view from each room is spectacular. We had standard queen room, a bit small but comfortable. The beds are soft and dressed with white sheet and white blanket. Wonderful listening to the crashing waves of the sea at night. We ordered food from the restaurant. We had the salmon and fish n chips meals, reasonably priced. We were given a time for pickup and food was ready at that time. We had planned to camp on this day but every campground was full, and do to the fact that it was raining, getting the room and for the price of $152+ with ocean view was worth it! We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in our chairs listening to the sounds of the ocean.

1. I arrived at 4:00 PM for my reserved room. I was told it would be 45 minutes because the room was not ready. To make a long story short, I got into my room at 7:00 PM
2. At check in I was told the standard rate for a single room was $135.00. The next morning at checkout I was told the standard rate for a single room is $149.00. I questioned the rate and was told the difference was due to taxes, then I noticed I was also charged $15.65 for taxes??
3. The property is old and tired. The restaurant is open for take out only for limited days, there is no included breakfast.
4. If you plan to pay resort prices, I suggest you find a resort.

My husband & I needed a night away and planned a spontaneous tank of gas getaway to the coast. We didn't get into Florence until after dark and had no previous reservations . From the photos on the web this hotel appeared to be updated , spacious, and clean. NOT!

Actually the room directly across the hall from ours had some sketchy looking guy peering at us through a cracked door as we were bringing in our luggage. My husband said it looked to be more like a long term rental type apartment arrangement than a hotel. We had to ask for an extra blanket because the bedding was literally 2 sheets folded together. When it was handed to us it was a very well used thin baby blanket ( teal green) and not even folded neatly or clean looking. We ended up tossing it in the back seat of our car and returned it the same way it was handed to us at check out.
The parking lot was full and hard to find a spot close to our room. We lugged up most of our belonging because the hotel just looked shady. The next morning as I was getting dressed a loud fire alarm went off asking everyone to leave their rooms because there was a fire reported. Come to find out it was just a tenant cooking bacon in the one rooms? At least their fire alarm system worked!
The adjoining room door was very thin plywood like door panels and we could hear our neighbors arguing with one another. However, we did have a ocean view which would've been lovely to enjoy if we had stayed another night but for the price we opted out and headed to Bandon which we got a very comfortable clean room at the Best Western Bandon for less than what we paid at the Driftwood Shores and got a grab n go breakfast included.
If you get creeped out staying in hotel rooms because of lack of cleanliness and charm this match boxed sized room is probably not for you.

I'm sorry that your recent stay didn't meet your expectations. The hotel was very busy and it was the first day of Spring break. That could have contributed to the noise factor. Blankets are kept off the beds because of COVID protocol but the condition on how it was delivered was unacceptable. At the end of the day you were not pleased with the hotel. If you are planning to return to the Florence area please reach out to me as I would be able to offer a discount on your next stay. jim@driftwoodshores.com. Thank you for your comments

Very unimpressed paid premium price $128.00 and was appalled that there was only two plastic 4oz water glasses and two papers cups for coffee, A very musty smell to the room. Also there were no chairs on the balcony. Once again I am reminded why I vowed not to stay here in the future.
Burned again!!!!
