My husband and I are biking through the Willamette Valley using a company that will transport our luggage and help set up our route. Last night we stayed at McMenamin's Grand Lodge. It's a historic property with an interesting history. It's definitely worth taking the walking tour. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are small and described as "European", which...

the rooms can be a little warm in summer, but our bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. weve stayed at most of the mcmenamin hotels and this one is a fun building. there was some type of security issue. heard them talking about it when we checked in around 9 pm and then saw them patrolling the parking...

Stayed 1 night, room 12. Pretty bare, but you know that going in. Old widows and orphans home. Rooms are small. Bed was nice. No ventilation to speak of, we opened the window which they advise could be a safety issue as provides easy entry to outside (room 12 is below grade). Common bathrooms were OK, pretty sparse. Hot tub...

My wife booked this trip five and a half months ahead of schedule and we took public transportation all the way from Dunsmuir to Forest Grove and back. On arrival the staff at the front desk were cheerful and helpful. Our room was the Joh Coltrain room in the basement next to the Doctors Office bar. We had the Hammerhead...

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the birthday weekend. It is wonderful to read the stay was a hit even with the long Trimet (transit) ride. You have done a wonderful job of describing the setting of each area of the lodge including the area of the room. You even included the chickens. That is so...

I have been here a couple times to dine and a couple times to watch a movie. I enjoy the movie atmosphere as it is quaint and comfortable (I like the couch seating). There is only one movie playing at a given time and in-seat service is limited, but I don't expect it to be like our iPic ventures. Everyone...

I have many to many McMenamins to review the restaurant only, but this was my first time attending a McMenamins Wedding. Word of warning to those considering having a wedding at this location: - If your wedding is on the lawn, then the arbor faces the road and you can see the traffic on the main street going by when...

We stayed 2 nights for our niece's wedding weekend. Even though it was the hottest weekend of the year (when we pulled into the lodge it was 101 degrees) we had a great time. The place is perfect for weddings and large groups. Both restaurants were great, the "Doctor's Office" bar and game room was a blast, and the soaking...

Dave thank you for the review. We did have some warm days this summer with several occurring on days where weddings took place. I guess we should feel fortunate that the NW does not stay at such extreme temperatures for long. We are thankful you made it out to the lodge to stay the night after the wedding. The Doctors...

We just stopped in for dinner. This would be a fun place to spend a couple days but plan on eating somewhere else. We waited for service in the restaurant for thirty minutes and were literally ignored by 5 waiters. There were only 6 occupied tables including use and we could not even get a menu tossed our way. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Make a grand escape to McMenamins Grand Lodge! It's all in the details here, with the stately columns and winding drive, wide green lawn, 77 European-style guestrooms, restaurants, movie theater and small bars and some of the most fantastic artwork to ever grace these walls. Built in 1922 as a Masonic & Eastern Star home, the Grand Lodge has stories to tell. Renovated and opened by McMenamins in 2000, what was once tranquil and serene is now vibrant and colorful. Here the walls do speak... As do the doorways, the hallways, and even the overhead pipes. (Look up...)Inspired by the history of the city of Forest Grove and the building itself, McMenamins' artists have infused the Grand Lodge with original artwork and historical photographs - all tributes to the cast of characters who left their mark before us. ... more   less
