Our complimentary yoga class instructor, Reina, was the highlight of our stay. Her teaching, philosophy, understanding and calm manner resonated so deeply with our small group of friends, it felt as though she knew all the things we are going through. She is an absolute gem. The spa area was beautiful and the people throughout are very kind. The rooms are tired, and we could hear every word from people next door. The rooms, including bathrooms, can use paint, updating. Beds are comfy.

The complimentary yoga classes with Reina were the best part of my two night visit. Her yoga teaching, calmness and stretches were enlightening and therapeutic. I truly appreciated her guidance and time. The rest of the lodge could use a refresh. The rooms are a bit tired and the pool and jacuzzi area not very clean .

I have stayed at Salishan Lodge many times over the years and have had the opportunity to see how a succession of owners have tried to profit from the place. Some efforts have been positive. More efforts, regrettably, have fallen flat. The sort of amenities one associates with a resort experience, robes and refreshments in rooms, for instance vanished. The iconic Sun Room restaurant, a favorite of guests and locals, was turned into a soulless point of sale. The current owners now have redecorated guest rooms in an apparent effort to "update" the place. John Storrs, the Northwest architect who designed Salishan, envisioned a lodge that melded, outside as well as in, with the coastal landscape, creating a place evocative of a Japanese forest ryokan. Rooms were distinguished by their warmth with beautiful wood paneling on walls and tasteful pictures on the walls. Whoever oversaw the recent room redecoration apparently envisioned a state hospital for the criminally insane. Hard floors replaced carpeting. Pictures were ripped from walls, replaced on one wall with a telephone stuck in the middle of it. Most miserably, the paneled walls were painted over with white paint. Our room was cold, sterile, and utterly uninviting. It did not help that the bed was made so that any person of height would be short-sheeted and that the last trace of resort amenities were gone. To be fair, I will add that staff seemed better trained/managed than in the past, but that hardly made up for the destruction of John Storrs' esthetic. I now have no desire to return again.

Response from Robert Ratchford, General Manager at Salishan Coastal Lodge By Scp Hotels
Responded 4 days ago
Dear Godzillabird, We do apologize your feelings of the lodge as it is do not fit with the aesthetic from the 60s when John Storrs designed the property along with the Gray family. We actually take great pride in what we have been able to preserve since acquiring the property in 2018 after decades of mismanagement. Unique and tasteful artwork from that time still exist in every guest room and throughout the property, the upgrades to the property internal and external were made within the past few years with little to no changes made to the original construction out of respect for some of the things you mentioned. Some tough decisions had to be made as the property has grown and expanded since its humble beginnings but these have only been additions not a removal. It is a shame you felt we do not honor the visionaries of the past as it is a constant focus here with the Salishan and SCP team. If you do have a moment I would love to speak with you further as it does seem you may have missed some of the amazing accomplishments we have made here connecting the past with the present. I would love an opportunity to connect. Please when you can reach out to me at my email below. Robert Ratchford - General Manager robertr@scphotel.com

Stunningly beautiful golf course with plenty of ocean views (10-18), well maintained greens, helpful staff. Excellent morning together with my son who was visiting us on his Spring Break from Law School in The Netherlands. We have a vacation home in nearby Olivia Beach and play here a few times each year. The mall/galleries/brew pub / salon on HWY 101 has also greatly improved and has many people visiting- fun for all ages.

We loved our stay at Salishan Coastal Lodge! My son enjoyed using the pool and hot tub and walking around the beautiful property. Our stay coincided with Easter and my son had fun running around looking for hidden eggs - great touch for the younger guests :) Thank you to the front desk staff! Everyone we interacted with were wonderful.

I never write reviews but had to hear. Outstanding place! They told me about their “holistic” approach at check in and the way they donate for every guest towards some awesome causes. Wonderful golf course views. Room was clean and a lot larger than I thought overlooking a forest. And so many food options at the hotel! We had drinks in the Attic and the service was wonderful as well as breakfast in their downstairs restaurant. My wife enjoyed the complimentary yoga they do for guests. So cool. Cannot recommend this place enough. Wonderful staff and atmosphere.

I had always wanted to stay at The Salishan and finally booked it. On our one night visit we walked several of the nature trails including the trail to the beach. Later we had dinner at the Lodge. The Lodge is a short, covered walk from any of the rooms. There are 3 restaurants to choose from in the Lodge and the food and service are excellent and reasonably priced. We ate at the Provisions Market and ordered from The Attic menu. They serve cocktails in all 3 locations. We saw many families with kids and everyone I saw were really enjoying themselves. The pool looked great although we didn't have a chance to try it out. I loved the covered walkways throughout the resort which was great since it was raining off and on during our visit. The rain only adds to the rainforest feel so we didn't mind at all. We stayed in a 2 queen golf course view room with a nice balcony. Next time I'd like to try a king bed room with a forest or bay view just to try out both sides of the resort. Can't wait to go back!

Wonderful stay. Staff was very polite, welcoming and accommodating. Check in was a breeze, taking only 2-3 minutes. Our room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds were good and it was easy to get around without driving. Just a 2 minute walk across the highway for some shops, coffee and food. There was a trail that led to a short walk to the beach. 2 fire pits on the property that allowed for a relaxing evening after dinner. Highly recommend Salishan for your visit to the Oregon Coast.

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at Salishan Lodge. Our room was nice, the service was great, and dining in all the restaurants was superb. The special highlight of our visit was the massages we enjoyed at the Spa. David gave me the best massage I’ve ever had. He’s friendly and personable, and really knows what he’s doing. Absolutely Exceptional Job David!!

The spa was beautiful and so relaxing. My costal classic massage with Felicity was the best I’ve ever had. Her hands were magical! The hearth room is cozy and the views are stunning. The infinity pool is the perfect temperature in the cool spring air. Thank you Salishan Spa for a perfect day of pampering ❤️
