We spent 2 nights here for our son's wedding. The rooms are supposedly "condos"...some have full kitchens, but our "King Deluxe Bedroom" was indistinguishable from any tiny, basic hotel room. It had the usual small fridge, microwave and coffee maker and very basic decor. There were obvious repair and maintenance issues (hole in bathroom wall, broken lock on slider door, thin walls, and signs of wear and tear everywhere.) The king bed was uncomfortable with a stiff mattress and old thin pillows. Positives were the balcony and view of the ocean, which were spectacular. Chairs are provided. We heard other hotel guests saying they had to call for building maintenance to come and fix things in their rooms after arrival. Overall the facility definitely shows its age, yet the price for a small room was steep, I suppose because of the view. We did enjoy the Fathoms restaurant for breakfast both mornings...meals were very tasty and reasonably priced, with lovely ocean views out the windows and attentive staff. In fact all hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and the wedding venue was well organized. Our son and daughter-in-law were very happy with how the hotel helped them plan and carry out the ceremony on the beach and the reception inside. One of the staff even helped build them a bonfire on the beach in the evening so the wedding party could gather. If we ever stayed here again we would ask for a larger, updated room if possible, and stay off season when prices should drop.

Beautiful, nostalgic building that is well maintained. The rooms are well kept and very clean, providing all the comforts of home and more. the staff is top-notch and have always provided excellent customer service. The location on the beach is mesmerizing and allows all to visit and experience the beach safely. We are very thankful for the many many opportunities and experiences. I was nervous to book here because there are some negative reviews. I am so glad we did book! It was wonderful from start to finish! Parking - it’s not a big deal, you drop your luggage and Fred the amazing driver will follow you in your car under the tunnel way to park, and will drive you back. So easy and safe. The lobby is up above all the rooms, takes a minute to get used to that. The main street level/lobby is floor 9. Our room was exactly what I hoped for - balcony, on the beach, roaring waves and beautiful views. I really hated to leave. We had 1 dinner and 1 breakfast at Fathoms, the restaurant on the top floor. The views alone are worth it for sure, and the food was good too! It’s not high end fancy dining but it’s a good meal at a reasonable price. We had great service both times we ate there. The room was updated and modern - apparently they are individually owned so not all are updated but our room was fresh and clean and lovely. We left the slider open at all times (lucky we had a breeze, it does get hot and there is no A/C but we were fine). The sunsets were just gorgeous. We walked the beach several times, so nice to have a spigot at the door entrance to rinse off before returning to the hotel. We saw lots of driftwood, sea sponges and rock formations. It’s a beautiful beach. I can’t say enough about our 2 nights here, we just loved it. BUT fair warning, Lincoln City has nothing to offer - you wouldn’t even know it’s a coastal town. It’s commercial and very un-charming. We spent most of our time here walking the beach, or enjoying the balcony. There is nothing else about the area that is appealing. Go to Depoe Bay or Cannon Beach for the charm!

50th Anniversary stayed honeymoon night in 74. Thought it was mediocre. Nice people, needs upgrading. as a builder I see its still back in the 90's. Had some room issues also, as a condo owner owned, not all is upgrade only at owners request and cost. Met some guys who styed at nxt door motel and came here for food and drink for last 30yrs.

We stayed here with another couple as park of a package that included a bottle of wine, glass float and a free dinner at the restaurant.
We come to Lincoln City a few times a year and usually stay at the D Sands.
We had requested a high floor when we made the reservation 6 months earlier and also had requested to be near the room of the other couple we were staying with. They checked in and were assigned to a room on the 9th floor . We checked in behind them and were assigned to a room on the 3rd floor, so not near the other couple and ours was not a high floor. I had even confirmed these requests by phone earlier the same week.
Our room was fine. Standard size, clean, lightly decorated, decent view. We went up the other other couple's room on the 9th floor and holy cow, it was about 1/3 the size bigger and had a balcony about 4 times the size. The rooms were decorated differently which I understand is due to the fact that the units are individually owned. That was fine and understandable, but from a size and view perspective the other couple had the far superior room which is strange considering we booked with the same package. We asked to be moved and our request was declined.
Fathoms restaurant was great and the service was top notch. The first night we had neighbors who were so loud we actually had to go next door and ask them to be quiet. They kept it down for a while but we were awoken in the middle of the night to more loud noise.
The hotel itself was clean and relatively nice. There was a mandatory mask policy in place and I was disappointed that we saw several people in view of staff who were not wearing masks and were not asked to put one on.
There are two sweet kitties that roam the property that got pets every time we passed through. All staff was very friendly, although I do take issues with the agent who didn't move our room upon request.
Overall, this place isn't bad. The location is a bit further from the main drag but that also keeps the beach area less crowded. Unless we received another package as a gift we probably won't be back. For the price, location and inconsistency of the rooms we'll go back to D Sands. We prefer having the kitchen and the rooms with kitchens are WAY pricier at Inn at Spanish Head than they are at D Sands.

There was a storm and some loose roof flashing above our room was banging all day and night. Really annoying. Thankfully the surf was loud enough most of the time were it was difficult to hear the flashing. I looked at it and it has been that way for a while. I guess maintenance is not important to the owners.
Also the internet was really bad and spotty. I had to go to the lobby to deal with a minor business issue. This is 2023 and there is fiber optic running down the road right in front of the hotel. One would think that a higher end motel would have better internet by one would be wrong.
They can't ever keep the flashing nailed down.

This is a 50 year old 10 story building on the Oregon coast built into the cliff side. The rooms are individually owned and most have had some up grades. It is a “crap shoot” what type Upgrade your room had. Some rooms have tiled floors throughout while others have some carpeting. We did have to change rooms once due to the odor. The second room was acceptable but the carpet was stained. Costly place to stay for the quality of the facility. Good restaurant up stairs. Social distancing in place and lots of hand sanitizers available. Pool and spa open but needed to be reserved to prevent over crowding. I don’t think I would stay here again.

The room was a handicap room and had comfortable bed, and furniture, and hand rails, and shower bench. THE VIEW was of course, what we were looking forward to. There was a pretty strange conversation as we were "greeted" at the front desk. After checking in I asked for a map of the layout of the building's amenities, as they were all given verbally to me. After a tiring drive, and then not understanding that our car MUST be parked across the highway, I simply wanted a drawing and there was a binder with a diagram. They would not give me a photocopy of this, so I could get oriented. Not a big deal. There was nothing in the room to "educate" us about the building. So I walked around for about 30 minutes in the pleasant surroundings getting oriented to where things were. We had a dinner reservation so that went well, but they informed us we were late. The food was excellent, although rich in buttery sauces. When the check came it was not added properly, and very easy to spot the mistake. Our waiter, who was extremely pleasant throughout the entire meal, could not gracefully accept his mistake, and said he would have to talk to his boss, who would not be there for several days - weird - most times the waiter admits the mistake and efficiently. We were firm about the total, and then he went back and corrected it. I was wondering, why didn't he have the authority to correct the mistake gracefully and just say he was sorry, rather than talking about his boss? It was a beautiful place, not ostentatious or trendy. We noticed quite a bit of TLC happening on the premises during our stay - plantings, salt water fish tank, carpets, pool, etc. We will go back to the same room again because of our need for a handicap room.

Booked a room is was supposed to have a bar and King size bed along with a murphy bed a place to sit and work and enjoy the view. What we got was a cracker box of a room with literally no place to sit but a tiny table and no power outlets. When we booked the room we said we need the larger room and wanted it on the first floor. No phone service, No internet service and we were there to finish working on a book which we told them when we booked. It needs serious updating. The stairs to the beach are treacherous to say the least. We frequently visit the coast for weekends and such and unfortunately we are taking this off of our list of places to visit in the future.

"Spa" can mean several different things. In addition to the outdoor swimming pool there is an indoor heated small pool/large hot tub with water jets - a "spa"- that is quite nice. See the Amenities page on their website for a photo. To the best of my knowledge there is not spa in the sense of a place where they put hot rocks on your back and cucumber slices on your eyelids.
BTW, my wife really like the Inn - I earned some excellent points for this one. :-)
You should call (541) 996-2161 (Inn at Spanish Head) and ask them. As we found out, each unit is owned by an individual owner, not by the Inn. Owners have complete control over what their units look like. Some are up to date, some are not. One caution: if you have two people renting the same unit, make sure you are emailed that the room has two chairs. A couple shouldn't have to take turns in one chair while watching the sun set. When you arrive and find the accommodations substandard, other reviews will confirm that either your request to change rooms is denied because "similarly-priced rooms are unavailable" or you will be asked to pay a hefty additional price for the upgrade.
