First off, I come to Newport often enough that I have my preferred place to stay for ocean view rooms. Well that preference is now the Elizabeth Oceanfront suites (Formerly Elizabeth Street Inn).
Unlike the resort I would typically use down the road, every from here has the full ocean view (the resort had some ground level room with only a partial view). Also all hallways are indoors and are more secured as a result.
While the Elizabeth is still going through renovations (only during off season), they do appear to be working hard to update and keep things nice, clean, and working.
Each night chowder at 5PM (while it lasts) and then cookies at 7PM, and for now, a grab and go breakfast in the morning (work in progress).
Rooms are have an amazing ocean view and some have gas fireplaces (on a timer). Room was clean and comfortable, but due to bed platform may be a bit high for some. Some of the room furniture does appear to pre-date the changeover into an Ascend collection hotel, and may look out feel a little dated, but from what we saw it was still kept up and maintained. Fridge and microwave in the rooms, as well as a hotel style Keurig machine
Chairs and table on the outside deck are perfect for sitting and watching the waves. Other reviews mention no screen, ours had a fully operational screen door.
Branding inside still shows former branding, but it provides charm.
Staff was all woderful from the desk staff to the maintenance workers.
Pool and hot tub were great, and were right next to outdoor sandy seating area with outdoor gas fireplaces and string lights. The seating area is protected by glass panels on the sides. It would be nice if those lights were turned off after the area closes. Workout room is small but functional featuring Precor equipment and a spin bike.
Parking lot ramps are a bit steep so take them VERY slow, and from the upper lot a great view. Check in and out super quick and easy.
Note: If you are tall watch yourself under the ceiling fan.
My only minor complaints/concerns 1. Lightbulbs were mismatched (Some CFL, some LED) 2. Some furniture was dated and starting to look out off place with the newer stuff in the room. 3. Lack of better breakfast 4. And 1 night a distinct smell of a now legalized substance being smoked near enough to have smell overwhelm me on the balcony. (The smell of which makes me quite ill)
Overall a wonderful time at the beach at a great facility, that we certainly will return to. Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites, you've won me over from my previous mainstay in town (that's just down the road).

We decided to try this new location after the hotel we usually go to raised their prices through the roof. Glad we did. This definitely our new place to stay in Newport. The rooms are being refinished over the summer. The room we stayed in was very large, had two queen beds and a sitting area with a sofa, desk and chair. The room was very well appointed and everything was new and/or freshly painted. The gas fireplace was great. We slept every night with the door to the balcony open so we could hear the surf and had the fireplace going at least when we went to sleep. Views from the room were great. Access to the beach was less than a half a block. The beach in the area is very uncrowded. The view from the room was phenominal. They have two parking areas. Use the one in the basement. It is less crowded and is protected from the weather. They serve a salmon chowder and cookies in the evening. It was good enough that we could have just stayed in and eaten in our room instead of going out to dinner. Two items to be aware of - the wifi was sketchy at times in our room. Currently they do not have a breakfast buffet up and running. Having said that, they still manage to produce and edible breakfast selection that you can pick up in the lobby and take back to your room. We ate breakfast there everyday. Offerings included breakfast burritos, pastries/muffins, fruit, milk, coffee, cereal, etc. Very very reasonably priced for what we got.

For as busy as Newport is I always find it interesting that there are so few actual oceanfront hotels in town. I love this location with it being right on the beach. I love the new fire pits with the lights hanging over them. I was fortunate enough to have my room two stories up from that level and although it was a beautiful night it was a little cold for anyone to be sitting at those pits. I was a little disappointed in my room in that you couldn't see out the sliding door to the ocean from the bed. Nor could you see the fireplace. Someone in their infinite wisdom probably back in the '90s at some point decided to separate the sleeping area from the lounging area and put a little half wall in between the two. The bathtub could have been a little cleaner but wasn't gross and overall I found that I enjoyed spending the evening there. The location again is perfect as there are restaurants with it walking distance and the beach is literally steps away. The employees are friendly and efficient, The grounds clean and well maintained. The rooms could use a little updating and maintenance, But I hear they're doing that. The price is very competitive with the other oceanfront hotels in town, and is in fact price a little less expensive than their neighbor down the street. I'm really looking forward to staying two nights next week for work. My only regret is that I won't be there early enough on either night for chowder at 5:00 or to watch the sunset from the balcony.

The rooms at the Elizabeth Inn offer some of the best views on the Oregon Coast. We love the in-room fireplace, soaking tub, and oceanside decks. They recently completed a remodel and the entire space feels clean, modern, and comfortable. Can’t wait to return. 10/10

Staff was great, very pleasant and helpful. Bathrooms need safety rails in the shower and more places to hang towels. Great location right on the ocean. Nice to have breakfast items available but need to eat in your room as there are no tables in the lobby.

There was a wine and seafood festival, city provided free shuttles. Lot of vendors: crafts, wine and food. Hotel charged us $167 for Thursday night (first day of festival) and $367 for Friday night. Little outrageous for such a jump in price when we made our reservations 10 months ago.

I have stayed here several times and am always impressed. The staff is fantastic - friendly, helpful, efficient. Every room has a private balcony so I can sit outside in my pajamas without having to say hello to the neighbors. The rooms are quiet and clean, with enough room to stretch out. The view is amazing and it is a short walk to easy beach access. There is also a great restaurant a few blocks away that offers takeout, so eating meals on the deck overlooking the ocean is easy. And it's a good walk or short drive to downtown Nye Beach, with the wonderful shops and restaurants. I do wish there were more towel racks - one by the sink would be great - but I'm being picky here. I will definitely be back.

After the remodel of The Whaler [now The Allred] resulted in higher prices, we went looking for a new favorite beach hotel and found it at Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites!
We found the hotel newly remodeled and dog friendly, with the bonus of a grab & go light breakfast. The view was better than the Allred because it's closer to the ocean and because dog owners are not restricted to the first floor {yay!] The staff was friendly and helpful. Terrific beach access via a paved path at the Veteran's Memorial Park. Covered parking also a plus.
We look forward to our next visit, when we hope to try both the pool and the fire pits.
The only downside is that the beds are so tall, we don't think we could take our moms [ages 86 & 90] to this motel.

This was unexpectedly wonderful. For a very inexpensive price we got an oceanfront suite with a view of the beach, a gas fireplace, fridge and microwave, and king sized bed. A basic but complete breakfast is included as well as extraordinary salmon chowder at 5:00 and a sugar cookie at 7:00. All the staff were great- friendly, professional, and helpful from check in to departure. We'll be here our next trip to Newport for sure.

We stayed at the Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites with our two teenage boys and we had so much fun. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was much larger than expected and very nice with large beds and granite countertops and two sinks, fridge, & microwave and Keurig with glass coffee mugs & stemless wine glasses. Lots of places to plug in electronic chargers on lamps on the desk and night stand. The room had a fireplace and full size couch and foot rests, the couch is a pull out. We used it for sitting in front of the fire and looking out the sliding glass door at the ocean. Such a beautiful view. Also loved sitting on the balcony and watching the waves and the birds and the lighthouse. We ate smoked salmon chowder in the lobby at 5pm and then there were fresh baked cookies at 7pm (both complimentary). The patio seating area with the Adirondack chairs looks out at the ocean. Recommend photos in the oversized Adirondack chair. And there is a saltwater pool and sauna which we enjoyed after a long day of exploring Newport and walking on the beach and dipping our toes in the chilly waves of the Pacific Ocean.

We stayed on the top floor - the 4th, which was a king suite w fireplace. I don’t recall a jacuzzi in suite.
There is an indoor pool/jacuzzi on main level above beach and adjacent to fire pits.
Not when I was just there December 9-11 2020- call the hotel for updates. I highly doubt they’ve changed anything yet with Covid cases still on the rise here in Oregon- also, bring extra blankets since they don’t put the usual extra one in the closet. It was a beautiful hotel- great beach- great town
We stayed there a couple weeks ago. 11/8/20-11/10/20. The hotel all common areas were closed (pool, fire pits and fitness room). the breakfast was just a continental (all cold food and to-go).
There are more places to choose from in the Newport area.
