Detailed Reviews
Yes, this place really is just as fantastic as everyone else says it is.
The master-craftsman level work throughout the house (including passive solar design) makes the place itself a joy to be in. The location above the lake is stunning and access to the private dock and canoe is great. Hiking trails out the back door, and absolutely loads of mountain biking trails in the nearby area. Erika and Norm are perfect hosts, both incredibly knowledgeable about the area and generous with their locals' knowledge.
I went in the summer and can't wait to go back this winter for a ski trip. Truly a special place.

My wife and I had a lovely stay. Enjoyed warm hospitality, luxurious accommodations and a top notch breakfast (even able to accommodate my vegan needs). Their lovely dog gave us a guided tour of the on-site trail system. We'll be back!

We booked here for one week of peace and relaxation. The house is beautiful and the surroundings are breathtaking. We only wish the accommodation had worked out better for us to make it the tranquil stay we had hoped for... Our room was next to the main living area and open plan kitchen with a gap under the door. This meant conversation and breakfast preparation was heard very easily. Not so bad, but with an inability to completely cover the provate deck glass door, the privacy level for my vacation wasn't enough. We also felt we had to constantly whisper. Perhaps this is what others expect when they refer to being in the hosts home, ie needing to be in best behaviour! However, the other downside for us was noise during the night. With a second guest suite being used, the owners slept above our room. Sadly we could hear the floor creaking every time they even turned over in bed, day much needed sleep was constantly disputed and again our conversation muted. It just felt so uncomfortable!
For the first time ever, we decided to leave and find alternative accommodation, without discussing our concerns with the owners; partly because they were out and partly because I had simply had enough and wanted to get on with my vacation without worrying anymore.
Overall, this is undoubtedly a fabulous lodge and at the moment is likely the best accommodation in Oakridge, but despite the friendly and accommodating owners, for us it just didn't work out.

Response from Norman C, Owner at Double Diamond Lodge Bed and Breakfast
Responded Feb 17, 2013
We take great pride in providing a very personal experience for our guests. We make it a point to let them know that we are always close by to answer questions or to provide whatever they need. Unfortunately we had no way of knowing that these guests were unhappy until we discovered their vacated room in the morning. We would have been very willing and able to make whatever changes necessary to make their stay more comfortable and relaxing, if we had only known. Last year we did the following. 1-We added a blind on the glass door. 2-We now have the policy that when the Sweet View Room is occupied that there will be no one in the Ski Loft above. 3-We always ask at breakfast, "Did you sleep well last night" 4-During the busy summer season, when both rooms in the main lodge are occupied with guests, Erika and I will be in another building on the property. We have always welcomed feedback. And we always will as we continue to do our best to accomodate a broad spectrum of guests needs. We would always much rather that guests communicate directly with us and give us a chance to make them happy before they leave. We are entering into our fourth season now in 2013. We take pride in the fact that of all of the hundreds of lodging nights and wonderful folks from all over the US and around the world that we have shared our home with that this has been the only less-than-stellar feedback we have ever received. But even prior to this review we had already taken steps to prevent it from happening again. Norm Coyer, Owner The Double Diamond Lodge, Bed and Breakfast.

Norm and Erika live in a Cascade mountain paradise and have created an amazing B&B in order to share it with others. Their beautifully hand crafted home is warm and comfortable and radiates the calm as well as the vibrancy of the forest surrounding it. A stay here leaves you relaxed and refreshed.... oh yes, and well fed! Breakfast is hearty, healthy, and prepared with love. A great place to explore the Cascades from or just relax at a mountain getaway. Also to note is that I have severe dust allergies that limit my ability to enjoy almost any accommodations outside of my southwest home. I am pleased to say that I had no problems at all while at the lodge!

+1
Double Diamond lodge is an absolutely beautiful home in a beautiful location! The guest room we stayed in had it's own porch and gorgeous bathroom. The view from the dining room and main rooms are breathtakingly beautiful of mountains and a lovely lake. A wraparound porch is available to sit and look at the lake. A private dock is available for swimming and boating. Norman and Erika were excellent hosts. I would love to go back some day!

This isn't just a B & B, it's a home provided to you by the owners, Norm & Erika Coyer, to share the peace and beauty of Oregon. This is a gem for accommodations in this area. There are breathtaking views of the mountains, trees, and lake from the lodge. The nature setting is fantastic for hiking, biking, picnics, water fun, or just looking out at the magnificent view from the patio. Erika provides a tasty, plentiful and healthy breakfast with daily variety. The fresh blackberries were a favorite during our stay. We enjoyed the private dock by the water most mornings, as it does get windy in the afternoons. The owners are friendly, pleasant, and gracious hosts. They treated us like friends staying in their home. They were so helpful with advise and information also. This was one of the most relaxing enjoyable vacations ever. We highly recommend this place!

Unbelievable. Really. Can't say enough good things about it. Breakfast was just lovely... We did a lot of fun things! We used their canoe on the lake and at almost noon we were still the only ones there. I swam off the dock. My wife watched. We got back up the hill to the lodge. The lodge is unreal. So gorgeous and conscious of its ecosystem. So anyway, we rested and did another sit on the front porch to look down at the lake or up at the 3000ft forested peaks across the way. We hiked out the back yard up the trails that he built himself. the lodge is at 1700ft i think so the trails climb 750ft in elevation. There was a wedding the week before up there above the lodge, evidently. And The hike is gorgeous. Views of the lake and Diamond Peak are spectacular. If you want, the trail even hooks into a logging road that continues up to a peak another 100 or so feet up. And Norman and Erika are the nicest they come!

Double Diamond has made me a B&B believer. Unlike others where my husband and I have felt either like we're in the way of the hosts or not following the rules, Norm and Erika have created the perfect getaway: calm, laid-back, and in an absolutely stunning spot. Double Diamond Lodge has all the benefits of a great B&B and none of the pretension. Highlights: wander down to the edge of their property and have a lake-side picnic by Norm's fire pit; spend an evening in the hot tub after a long bike ride; sit out on the front porch and soak up the stunning scenery; Erika's breakfasts!

Norm and Erika Coyer have outdone themselves with this gorgeously hand-crafted home on the shores of the Hill Creek Reservoir, minutes outside of downtown Oakridge. The views, across the lake to the mountains beyond, from the dining area and common room are absolutely stunning. The guest bedroom is spacious and comfortable, featuring a private bath and private entrance via a quaint sideyard porch. The use of the hot tub after a day of riding or hiking is like icing on an already delicious cake. Erika provided a hearty and healthy breakfast. Both she and Norm were delightfully knowledgable company, providing loads of insight about local trails and conditions, as well as happenings around town. I applaud these two on the incredible accomplishment of their beautiful home, and am so thrilled that their vision has been to share it with the rest of us!! What a gift, indeed!!
