We really did enjoy our stay at Otter Crest but were very disappointed in the unit. In 33 years with RCI, I don't think we've stayed in a smaller unit. The wall were also paper thin, hearing the conversations of others in adjacent rooms. The unit was smaller than most hotel rooms. The fridge was a small one like a hotel, There was a toaster oven and microwave I would never stay in the Studio unit again at this resort. The Resort restaurant was only open 3 days from 5-8 pm. With all that said, the grounds and flowers were BEAUTIFUL and so well kept. The location was so beautiful and there were steps down to the ocean and seals to see at the bottom. You can't drive up near your room so they have a golfcart to help you get your things to your room. Everyone was very courteous. The pool and jacuzzi were nice too.

This one is difficult. First the positive things. We had a fantastic panoramic view of the ocean from our mini suite room. Truely stunning and at the front edge of the cliff, so no obstructions. Common areas were fine. Grounds were well maintained, valets in their golf carts were friendly. Easy access to Beverly Beach and tidal pools. They offer activities for families with tennis, swimming, short hikes, and a playground. Negatives: the room needed a refresh. Furniture was ok, but carpet needed to be replaced as well as the bathroom updated. According to valet the closest ice machine was broken, but he did deliver us ice later. Restaurant was only open on one night of our stay and we did not eat there. Our final bill was slightly higher than quoted for our registration, but the clerk explained that they had not added the resort fee to our quote which amounted to about 2% of the bill. Not a big deal, but always good to check. Because there are owners to some of the rooms/condos it may not be a reflection on the resort but the owner on the quality of your room. Ours had an adjoining condo where we could hear them talking and the children running around. The heavy wind also caused the canvas divider between balconies to make a loud banging noise. We closed the door between living room and bedroom and that helped some. There was no daily cleaning but you could contact the front desk for anything needed. For older or infirmed patrons, be aware that the parking lots are a distance from the rooms and must be accessed by paths that can be steep. There are valets but they may not be available to you when you are wanting to leave for the day. We used them when arriving and leaving to help with bags and that worked well and was appreciated. Based on the location, amenities and cost, I would stay here again. I think you have to be aware that you are paying for the view and not the quality of the room. It would cost several hundred dollars for the same view elsewhere.

We had a really lovely time and the staff were all very warm & friendly. We didn't try the restaurant because it had a pretty limited menu and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The grounds are beautiful and lush with lovely pathways. And they will drive you up to your room with your luggage in a golfcart-esque mobile, which was so nice since it was drizzling out. They have snacks for sale: popcorn, candy, ice cream, etc., and a DVD collection from which you can rent, which I always love--in a nostalgic kind of way. The only thing to note is that we could hear quite clearly the room next door, when they were talking, playing music, or watching TV. Fortunately for us, they weren't up late partying! So it ended up being a non-issue. Also, we loved the muscovy ducks that hang out near the pool, they are adorable.

Don’t let the beautiful entrance to this property fool you. Yes, the gardens and other plantings are lovely. And the views of the Pacific Ocean are fantastic. No getting around that.

But this is important. The rooms are time shares or the equivalent, not hotel rooms per se. There are apparently no decorating or maintenance standards, or if there are they are weak or not enforced. Our room, for which we paid a top price, had a great view but the furnishings consisted of a variety of completely mismatched furniture. The queen beds matched, but the table, chairs, side tables, and cabinet looked like they had been acquired at second hand furniture sales. The carpeting was a mottled brown shag, which felt clammy and gave off an odor redolent of mildew. The bathroom sink, cabinet, and tub were old, cheap, and unattractive. The tub had some glued on non-stick strips for traction, and there was no drain plug.

Second, the internet was terrible. In this day and age, that is unacceptable. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk, they displayed little concern. From sidebar conversations we could hear, the poor internet service is a well-known problem, but apparently one that management has no interest in resolving.

We were very disappointed in our stay at Otter Crest. We were quite happy that we were only there for one night.

This place has several nice features and several horrible ones. First the good- beautiful views all around the property, easy access to the ocean, and a lovely pool. The room was ok—nice bed, lovely wine glasses, frig, and microwave but no cutlery whatsoever. We tried to call the desk and no one answered for 24 hours and then when asked for some forks and spoons none were ever delivered?? The absolute worst feature of the room was the noise, there is absolutely no insulation between rooms. The upstairs neighbors were crazy loud and we could also hear every sound of cleaners in adjacent rooms. Don’t get a downstairs room, the noise is excruciating and front desk refused to do anything. We would never return or recommend to friends or family.

Beautiful setting and nicely finished Vacation International condo style room. Deck and large windows overlook the ocean and shoreline. Close to Beverly Beach via walking trail (lots of stairs). Staff very friendly. On site restaurant with limited menu only open three or four days weekly.
A few issues: One of stove burners didn't work, another smelled bad when turned on. Master bath sink very slow. Two day supply of dishwasher soap, no liquid dish soap, for a four day stay (not the usual for a VI property).
Overall a lovely spot, planning to return.

$535 for 2 nights..a Wednesday and Thursday. We were in a hotel unit with none of the amenities that others describe. The view from our room 119 was beautiful but the enjoyment ended there. We arrived at 4:30 and the maid was just cleaning our room so we went for a walk. The grounds are lovely. The couch was lumpy and needed to be cleaned along with the carpet. The wooden chair was old, beat up and looked as if it was purchased at a used furniture store. The bed was Rick hard snd the pillows felt as if they were stuffed with large shredded pieces of foam. The walls in our unit were so thin we heard entire conversations being held in room 118. The rumbling sounds from the ceiling above us clearly indicated the room above was occupied. We went here to hoist a glass of wine a toast a friend who had recently passed and loved this Inn. He clearly did not stay in the hotel section or anywhere near this room. The tiny refrigerator and microwave did not make up for having to trek up the hillside to the reception area just to get ice as the refrigerator worked poorly.

Our family has gone here annually for over 45 years. It is a great family destination perched on a mountain in a natural wooded setting. The 1970's era condos are well maintained and offer ocean views in all units, forest trail, full kitchens in units other than single hotel room, exercise room, tennis court and heated outdoor pool.Free wifi. Guest laundry with pay machines. Parking is off site to eliminate those early morning late at night car intrusions. Golf cart transports to rooms. It is a place for any time of the year whether for watching winter storms or summer beach walks on the marine gardens down 84? steps to the beach. The only issues are the loss of the tram from the restaurant to the top levels ( a paved path or staff driven golf cart) and the need for tennis court repair. The restaurant operates seasonally at this time, but is excellent. Gardens and grounds are pristine. 10 :00 pm quiet rule Is apprecisted. Absolutely NO PETS.

The room we had 353 was very nice with a great view of the ocean. Full kitchen, everything working except the clothes dryer. The unit was very clean when we arrived, although they do not supply daily housekeeping. There is a pool on property which we didn't use and Spy Glass restaurant. We did not use the restaurant---the host was unwelcoming, and they charge $10 extra for a GF crust on pizza. That's too much. However, the hotel staff were very nice and professional, and no problem picking you up with your luggage to take to your car on departure.

We had a large one bedroom fully equipped unit for a week. We had a very relaxing yet active stay. The resort is best suited for people who enjoy walking and aren’t afraid of stairs. We were in a top floor unit which is ideal due to the way sound travels in the wood framed buildings. WiFi was good and the range of TV options (Netflicks and HBO for examples) was exceptional. The location is great although you will experience the scenic 10 minute drive into Newport often.
