My family had a fantastic stay at the Inn at Otter Crest last month. We had two adjoining rooms with balcony views of the ocean. The rooms were quite comfortable and the views fantastic. The front desk staff was quite helpful and friendly.

This resort had large windows in both rooms from which to gaze at the amazing waves, rocks and sunsets!! We had 2 units for the price of one. It slept 10. The private beach had tidepools and agates. There were pelicans, herons and many seagulls and ducks to watch. The pool was heated to a good temperature so we could enjoy playing with grandchildren. There was a trail to Devil's Punchbowl.

My husband had contacted the resort ahead of time to let them know this was an anniversary trip so that they were aware. This was to be one of the highlights of our 29th-anniversary trip. Thankfully we only planned a 1-night stay before moving on down the coast. We arrived late and were placed in room 271. Upon entering the room, it was evident that the owners have not updated in ages. We were expecting the beautiful room pictured on the resort website and ended up with yard sale furniture, dingy linoleum, and the flattest smallest pillows I have ever seen in my life. The bathroom area was a sad state of affairs and the shower pressure was horrible. We contacted the front desk, who offered no help. Upon specifically requesting, we were offered a couple more equally flat pillows. It was late and it was raining or we would have demanded a refund and left. Upon awakening, the grounds were actually better than we had expected based on the state of our room. There is an undeniably lovely view, but the resort is spread out and mountainous. You are unable to park near your room and golf cart assistance was nonexistent, as we were passed right by with loads of luggage and not even a hello from the staff. At checkout, we were asked how our stay was and we told them how disappointed we were and why. There was no apology, nor were we asked if there was anything they could do to make it right. We had family members excited to hear about our stay at this resort so that they could come themselves. That will not be happening now, obviously. Do better Inn at Otter Crest.

The views were incredible. The grounds were well kept. The staff was also amazing. The walk around the campus (up and down the hills) was a little rough for my age. Fortunately, they do have golf carts that will help by picking you up at your room and transporting you to the front desk. The rooms were a little small (we had a one room unit) I had to do a little repair in mine by gluing some furniture. The microwave was useless. Would I go again? Yes! But a larger room.

Breathtaking views from the loft rooms. Rooms are a bit old but decently kept. Full kitchen is a plus esp if traveling with infants/toddlers. Front desk and service staff were courteous and helpful. Resort ground are very pretty with lots of trails and walkways. Quick drive to Newport and nearby attractions. 10/10 would recommend staying here.

We were in room 410. Very nice studio. Balcony, two comfortable easy chairs and a full kitchen. Nice ocean view, although the roof tops of all the other condos are in the foreground. Good internet. BUT, room 410 is on the 4th level which means it's at the top of the hill. There are only two ways to get to it - walk up (or down) 200 very steep feet or call for a shuttle pickup and wait for them to pick you up. The 300's rooms are one level down, but still a steep 150 feet above the lobby/parking lot. It's a very nice place, but the lobby, fitness center, sauna and parking lot are a good hoof away. And the beach is another 85 steps down. No breakfast - but, then, you do have a full kitchen. No coffee other than what you make in the room (provided).

My wife and I spent two nights at Otter Crest as a special getaway. We were in a room that has been recently remodeled and it was beautiful. Wonderful balcony attached to room and wonderful view of the ocean. The resort has beautiful grounds between the rooms and the beach. Office staff is very kind and helpful and made us feel right at home. A perk is each time we had a meal at the Otter Crest Restaurant we could ask for a 15% off coupon from the resort office. It was great to have a restaurant and bar on the premises. Restaurant is very good, a bit expensive, but no more than what I would expect based on location and we are at a resort. The menu and food is excellent. My only gripe on the restaurant is that the steak special was $75, good steak but not $75 worth. Most meals are $20 to $40 or so. Menu is online. We had the pleasure of being served by Rhonda at the restaurant. She is delightful, amazingly fast and organized. She remembered who we were each day and made us feel very welcome. I could not do what she does--I would be way too slow and forget stuff. If any resort "bosses" read this review, give a "shout out" to Rhonda. Drinks from the bar are good, well made, and there is a nice selection of signature cocktails on the menu. If you are a connoisseur of fine liquors and unusual cocktails, keep in mind it is the servers making the drinks unless the bar staff is on duty at the time. This is not a criticism. Drinks were made well, but order off the cocktail list. For the size of the bar and the resort clientele, the liquor selection is excellent.

Don’t let the beautiful entrance to this property fool you. Yes, the gardens and other plantings are lovely. And the views of the Pacific Ocean are fantastic. No getting around that. But this is important. The rooms are time shares or the equivalent, not hotel rooms per se. There are apparently no decorating or maintenance standards, or if there are they are weak or not enforced. Our room, for which we paid a top price, had a great view but the furnishings consisted of a variety of completely mismatched furniture. The queen beds matched, but the table, chairs, side tables, and cabinet looked like they had been acquired at second hand furniture sales. The carpeting was a mottled brown shag, which felt clammy and gave off an odor redolent of mildew. The bathroom sink, cabinet, and tub were old, cheap, and unattractive. The tub had some glued on non-stick strips for traction, and there was no drain plug. Second, the internet was terrible. In this day and age, that is unacceptable. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk, they displayed little concern. From sidebar conversations we could hear, the poor internet service is a well-known problem, but apparently one that management has no interest in resolving. We were very disappointed in our stay at Otter Crest. We were quite happy that we were only there for one night.

$535 for 2 nights..a Wednesday and Thursday. We were in a hotel unit with none of the amenities that others describe. The view from our room 119 was beautiful but the enjoyment ended there. We arrived at 4:30 and the maid was just cleaning our room so we went for a walk. The grounds are lovely. The couch was lumpy and needed to be cleaned along with the carpet. The wooden chair was old, beat up and looked as if it was purchased at a used furniture store. The bed was Rick hard snd the pillows felt as if they were stuffed with large shredded pieces of foam. The walls in our unit were so thin we heard entire conversations being held in room 118. The rumbling sounds from the ceiling above us clearly indicated the room above was occupied. We went here to hoist a glass of wine a toast a friend who had recently passed and loved this Inn. He clearly did not stay in the hotel section or anywhere near this room. The tiny refrigerator and microwave did not make up for having to trek up the hillside to the reception area just to get ice as the refrigerator worked poorly.
