Dusty and Steve are businesslike and yet friendly; the rooms are gorgeous (I stayed in the turret room, having always loved turrets!); the breakfast was continental but included yogurt and hard boiled eggs as well as many choices of cereal and toast. Great coffee available as early as 6:30. Couldn't have been nicer! And then there's the location. Wow. What...

I was visiting Portland on a business trip. Because I left early in the morning and arrived back late, I did not have the breakfast, but very much appreciated the treats in the dining room. Upon arriving, I received an excellent tour and was made to feel very welcome. The Lion and the Rose was conveniently located to my business...

Lovely home with wonderful inn keepers. They really care about their customers and do everything to please you. Extremely knowledgeable about area and they provided easy to use maps for us. Great location - walk to anything you need. Fabulous breakfast and snacks. Sleep number beds for perfect comfort as well as "comfy" sheets. Slept better here than at home....

We recently stayed 3 nights in the basement apartment. It was the perfect arrangement for our family. It was roomy & there were so many little touches that made it feel like home. There was a kitchen table where we could play cards at night. We were close to shops & great little local restaurants. We had things to do...

Delightful, and so full of historical associations! Dusty really has a great attention to detail. Lovely stay in a property decorated in true Victorian style with mementoes etc. We got the one upstairs with no bathroom, but it was extra nice

They provide great maps of the area & are helpful in letting you know the area. They also have light snacks &...

From Rusty's warm and informative welcome to the wonderful breakfasts, Lion and the Rose is the perfect spot for visiting Portland. Seemed like we were never more than 10-15 minutes from everything we wanted to see--from the restaurants and shops in NE to the Art Museum downtown. Parking was free and easy on the street right outside the inn. All...

We were in town visiting a friend and thought we'd give the Lion and the Rose a try. Dusty proved to be a charming host. They provide extensive written information about the area and are very helpful with recommendations of things to see and places to eat. The house is massive (9,000 sq. ft.) and the rooms are very nice....

We were concerned that the B and B may be a little distance from the city and may be in a bland neighborhood. Neither was the case. Located in Irvington which is a fairly lively (but not too lively!) neighborhood with restaurants, well established residential streets and only a couple of miles from downtown Portland- an easy walk or ride...
