The Moxy Portland Downtown is celebrated for its spotless rooms and the extra care taken in providing towels and supplies. Its hip atmosphere, with an Instagram-worthy lobby and chic decor, has been a hit among guests. While the rooms are acknowledged for their cleanliness and comfort, a few reviewers mention their compact size and potential for noise. Staff at the hotel have earned accolades for their exceptional service.
Opinions on value are mixed, with some guests disappointed by the unexpected parking fees and small rooms, yet others appreciate the prime location and the hotel's modern renovation. Amenities receive praise, especially for the added touches like white noise machines, though parking costs have been a point of contention. The location garners a mixed response, with guests loving the easy access to attractions but some having reservations about the noise and the immediate area surrounding the hotel.

The hotel is very centrally located in downtown Portland. We stayed for 5 nights. The rooms are small and they don’t offer breakfast for even their Titanium members, but there are delicious food options within close walking distance. Jake’s across the street was a wonderful option and the hotel gave us a free appetizer coupon to use there. I would have rated this hotel as a 3 star if it wasn’t for Eric, the most amazing staff member in the hotel! Eric checked us in with a smiling face and went above and beyond to make sure we received our extra towels, hangers, luggage holder and water…even though he was left all by himself to take care of check-ins, bar, and housekeeping! What a truly caring example of amazing customer service! Some of the staff were not as friendly, especially Tim who refused to even give water to titanium members without charging! Therefore, Eric’s outstanding customer service on each of the days we saw him would make me want to rate this hotel a 5-star!

I stayed at the Moxy after I lost power at my house, and it was a very pleasant stay and refuge for me and my little kitten, Leo! The beds are really comfortable, the rooms are equipped with a nespresso machine and there is a supply closet on each floor that is equipped with extra amenities. The boutique style of the hotel and room made it a lovely home away from home. There is also a very delicious sushi place called Let’s Roll in the lobby. This hotel is conveniently located walking distance next to some of Portland’s greatest treasures, Nong’s Khao Man Gai chicken and rice, Everyday Music and Powell’s Bookstore. There is also a CVS and Whole Foods nearby. The cleaning staff keep the rooms and common areas very clean, and the lobby front of house are incredibly kind and accommodating, Mary especially was a pleasure to talk to and was very welcoming from the start. My family has also stayed at this hotel in non-emergency situations and the Moxy is easily becoming my family’s preferred hotel of choice when in Portland.

Moxy is a very trendy hotel with excellent service. The check in counter doubles as a bar, and when you get there, you get two free drink tickets (a definite bonus). My husband and I sat at the bar for a couple hours, where Chris Silva was bartending, and he was truly fantastic. He gave us local recommendations for eateries, chatted with us about Portland, and made some truly delicious craft cocktails. Definitely visit the bar. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough -- they are small, and the walls are thin, but Marriott does all it can to offset that with a white noise machine and, should you need them, earplugs. Luckily, we had quiet neighbors and weren't bothered at all. A really great place to stay, we'd definitely go back.

When I booked this hotel, I was excited that it was downtown and it said there was “parking available”. When I checked in, I was then informed that “available” meant we had to pay 62$ a day for valet. They then told us we could park on the street but we weren’t informed that even that was something we had to pay for. The front desk staff watched us park, walk in, and go up to our room without saying anything. We got a call shortly after we went up to our room telling us we got a parking ticket. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t have just let us know before we went up to our room so we could have avoided the ticket. The whole situation was just odd and confusing. We are planning on parking our car at our friend’s house across the river to just uber to our hotel. Even doing it that way is cheaper than spending 62$ a day on valet which is absolutely insane. I am definitely not staying here again.

Dear AML2333, I’m sorry for any frustration with parking. We understand that city parking isn’t always straightforward, and not everyone is familiar with meter systems. Our team informs guests at check-in that all parking in downtown Portland requires payment, whether through our valet service, local garages, or city meters. While we don’t typically walk guests through meter use unless asked, we appreciate how this could have led to some confusion. When we noticed your vehicle was at risk of a ticket, we reached out as soon as possible because we truly wanted to help. We appreciate your feedback and are always happy to answer any further questions. Safe travels, Shelby B. Moxy Portland Downtown

This hotel is amazing! The decor is cute! The people were so nice! The room was comfy and had so many great features. They offered ear plugs, white noise machine & I loved the mirror hanging areas that could be rearranged. They towels were long enough. The water was hot but the water pressure was lacking but with everything else we would definitely stay here again.

What a fantastic hotel! We were greeted at check in by Emory, who welcomed us with joy. We arrived early from Chicago on a Saturday and there was one room ready. Emory was a friendly face during most of our week long stay, always checking in with us and asking about what adventures we had been up to during our Portland vacation. She took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. When we had questions about Portland, Emory was quick to share her "real-talk," down to earth take on Portland based on her experience as a resident of this city. The hotel itself is eclectic and modern with an unparalleled energy. Extra towels and supplies were plentiful when we needed them. The white noise machines drowned out the sounds of the city and we slept comfortably and peacefully every night. What an amazing experience!

Clean and very nice rooms and super comfortable bed! Love the vibe and decor of the common areas! The front desk staff were friendly and so helpful! They’re pet friendly. My dog had a fun stay as well! They have valet parking which can be a bit expensive or self parking in a lot next door.

This was our second stay at Moxy in Downtown, and we had a great time! At the front desk, Philip remembered us and was super helpful every day. He even gave us an extra drink ticket to celebrate us closing on our new house. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the vibe in the lobby is so pleasant with a great area for reading or working and another for socializing. Even though the valet parking is a touch expensive it is worth every penny, as the drivers are quick and professional - just make sure to request your car early because it can be busy!

I was only disappointed with the location of the hotel and the noise level. The location is questionable and I was expecting a lot of stores/shops/eateries within walking distance. I wouldn’t feel safe walking alone. I was hoping to do a lot of exploring. The noise level in my room was not pleasant. The hotel provides sound machines to help drown out some of the noise, but after a long day of conferences, I was hoping for a peaceful room to relax in. The staff were amazing, especially Emory! She went out of her way to assist me with my lost luggage (airline’s fault). She understood my anxiety about this and took the time to call me when it arrived to the hotel AND delivered it to the room for me while I was off-site at a conference. The hotel is pretty cool, clean, fun, and provided the necessities. The staff deserve huge kudos from me!

The Hotel Moxy Portland is a place where the vibes are as hip as the city itself, and the staff is so warm, they could probably heat up your latte. Situated in a location that's so convenient, you might as well call it your second home, this hotel is perfect for those who like their accommodations with a side of trendiness.
Step into the Instagrammable lobby with hip colors and bright scenes and enjoy the vibrant scene. But beware, if you're the type who needs drawers and chairs to function, you might find yourself struggling to find a place to stash your socks in your room. And as for the size of the rooms, well, let's just say you might want to leave your steamer trunk at home in the attic.
The staff at Moxy Portland are like your long-lost friends who happen to work at a hotel. They'll welcome you with open arms and a smile so bright, you'll forget all about those missing drawers. Need a recommendation for the best food truck in town? They've got you covered. Want to know where to find the coolest local art? Just ask, and they'll point you in the right direction.
So, if you're ready to embrace the quirks and charms of Portland in all its hipster glory, Hotel Moxy Portland is the place to be. Just remember to pack light and bring your sense of adventure – and maybe a spare charger for your phone, because those Instagram stories won't post themselves.
