Pictures make it look nicer than it is. The upsides: linens on the bed were clean and nicer than the rest of the room, towels were pretty decent (as mentioned in another review), employees are pleasant and helpful. Housecleaning staff gave a friendly greeting whenever they saw us, our room was clean - considering how aged the place is. That's...

The construction you saw down the hallway was almost definitely renovations, we've been closing off sections of the hotel right now in order to renovate many things. That being said, we did have an emergency plumbing truck in for maintenance in the same area as well due to a leak. Regardless: that is not normal! Your experience with the room...

We always stay at University Place Hotel when we visit Portland. It is conveniently located by the University and we walk everywhere. There are great restaurants, shopping and movie theaters all in walking distance. The hotel isn't fancy but it is consistently clean and the staff is friendly. The price is also very affordable for what you receive: a clean...

We Stayed for a night en route to California. Coming from astoria, we decided to stay a night in Portland. The hotel is Clearly originating in the 80s. The staff is nice. The rooms are clean. Hotel is located close to downtown. Would stay again.

Great as always, been staying here several times a year for the last 6. Only complaint is the heater controls weren't working correctly. Good breakfast, nice location and very quiet for being in the city. Love the free cookies!

A great deal: easy walking distance from PSU, reasonably maintained, decent breakfast buffet, all for under 3-digits. Helpful staff and working wifi a plus. I'll definitely let others know about this find, especially other PSU families.

Scott, we definitely have a lot of specials for PSU students -- be sure to ask us about them! We are owned and operated by the university and do our best to help them. Glad to hear you had such a good stay, hope to see you again soon.

This hotel is a nice surprise. Well placed next to the University of Portland, right across the street from the Tramway station, and 10 minutes from downtown. It is clean, an acceptable breakfast. A nice surprise.

I've stayed here three times, and I think it's about the best option on a budget with the given proximately to down town. It's easy to take the tram down town, and close enough to walk, albeit a longer walk. There's a pretty good continental breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, coffee, juice, and random carbs. The rooms are...

We stayed in Portland for three nights and this hotel did just fine for what we needed. There was definitely nothing special about this place, other than the inexpensive price! Rooms are quite basic with two adults sharing a double bed! That was pretty pathetic. However, the staff was pretty friendly and there is a train stop right out front...

It was my third time to stay at University place hotel. Every time I come here, staff members welcome me warmly and they are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are usually wide enough if you choose deluxe room. I stayed with a guy and two girls at deluxe twin room, but it was comfortable. You can walk to downtown in 20mins...
