Three Sister's is up-yonder. Please carry snow Chains. Watch out for dips and Valleys when there is a Snow Storm! Brilliantly scared silly w/ dog 1x!
We checked in and requested two beds. We were given a room in the one-story older section of the motel. It's quite charming actually with hugh hanging baskets of flowers and a freshly painted exterior.
The room itself was clean, but old. It had been upgraded and all the furnishings were new. The bathroom was also old but clean. The room was equipped with a refrigerator, coffemaker, hairdryer and HBO TV.
There is a new 2-story building addition to the Inn and those rooms have balconeys that overlook a shaded creek.
A very nice lake, Foster Lake, is situated at Sweet Home and we had a marvelous day playing in the water with inflatable rafts. For a small city away from the major interstate, Sweet Home has many amenities.
All in all, our stay was pleasant and our contact with the office was fine.
We'd stay here again.
I requested cancellation via email well ahead of the 2-day cancellation deadline for a full refund, but did not receive a response. Knowing that the reservation date was approaching and wanting to avoid any confusion about whether or not I would be charged, I called the next day to confirm that they had received the email, but the phone just rang for several minutes and never gave me the option of leaving a message. So, I followed up with ANOTHER email, again asking for confirmation that they had received my multiple requests for cancellation, and again no response. I tried calling twice more, and again, each time it rang continuously with no answer or option to leave a message.
So, imagine my surprise when I rexeived an emailed invoice for one night's stay (my original reservation was for two nights), and see that they've charged my card for two nights.
I emailed twice more trying to sort this out and again received no response. Noticed this morming that they had refunded less than one night's fee, and called again this morning to try to actually speak to someone to sort it out. Luckily, someone did answer this time, but rather than apologizing for their mistake, she argued with me about how much I had been charged (while I was looking at my bank app showing that I had been charged almost $200 more than she said their records showed), and said that, although I may have sent my cancellation request in advance of the 2-day cutoff for a full refund, they hadn't checked their email until later in the week, so I would still be charged for one night. I made it clear that was not acceptable, and that I expect a full refund. Waiting now to see if they will follow through with that or if I will have to dispute the charge with my bank. Either way, this has taken far too much of my time and effort for something that should have been simple.
My family reunion is in this area every year, and I will steer clear of Sweet Home Inn from here on out. I hope they can get their front office better organized and make customer communication a higher priority.
It was adequate for a one night stay. No problem there. I needed to do wash, and they have a washer and dryer available for guests. A plus. Now the not so good.... In the older section (brick walls inside?) it can get a bit noisy. You can hear every conversation happening in the parking lot. But the thing that leaves the most significant impression was the uncomfortable HARD bed. It was a little softer than sleeping on the floor, literally. Also two really skimpy pillows. It did have a fridge, microwave, and tiny screen old-time TV.
