My family and I vacationed at the Tired Dog Ranch first in 2018. My husband, 4 andchildren and our 3 dogs stayed in a beautiful 2 story cottage. The kids played basketball, tag & soccer in the large open field. We all took walks with our dogs on the many beautiful trails. We knew this was only the beginning of our stays here. The owner was a lovely woman whom provided us with information on the multitude of options in the area for fun with the kiddos. My husband and I returned to the ranch for our 14th wedding anniversary in Feb of 2019 and stayed in the gorgeous celestial yurt. This made for a rustic, romantic, magical and as before, memorable vacation. The small touches such as the butter and farm fresh eggs the owners provide made our stay just a little more magical.
My family and I travel quite frequently and know the difficulties in finding not only family friendly (which is not based on television and video games however available for their comfort if needed) but dog friendly as always, quite difficult. Here at the ranch we found both. It was reassuring to us that the owner had a leash requirement however provided beautiful wide open spaces for our dogs to run free off leash. As we own a large pitbull it was reassuring to know everyone would have their dogs leashed and we could walk leisurely with the grandchildren.
I have recently returned to find many new upgrades ie; a large pavilion, basketball courts, and an outdoor kitchen area. She had also added new camping sites which we will definitely be using next summer.
I have also booked another weekend in the beautiful hen house for this August. Now just one more cabin, the Cowboy Cabin and we will have experienced each one of these wonderfully thought out dwellings.
Sally (the owner) is a lovely woman whom has given my family and i an amazing place to vacation and build wonderful memories.
Thank you all at Tired Dog Ranch
As a side note, during our first Vacation at this Beautiful ranch I was on a round of chemo therapy which required us to be cautious of cleanliness and space from other people. We found the dwellings to be impeccably clean and the cabins are situated in such a way we felt the warm put into this business yet the majestic serenity I needed at the time.
To many more memories here at Tired Dog.

My dog, my girlfriend and I spent a few days camping here and it was WAY beyond our expectations. We slept in the meadow under the stars, made and ate breakfast in the INCREDIBLE kitchen set up, and even got to shoot some hoops and play badminton in the pavilion (we are both big sports fans).
Outhouses are scattered around the property for easy bathroom access and the outdoor showers were so perfect after a long day mountain biking. We took a small walk down the trail from the meadow for sunset and were greeted by two horses/ponies, which just added to how MAGICAL this place is.
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves on how great of a time our dog had, but highly recommend this spot, especially for folks with kids...seriously endless fun around the property for children to play and learn.
Thank you, Sally, for being so flexible with our schedule on the way up. We will be back here EVERY time we come to the area and our experience even has us looking at property around Oakridge. Can not recommend enough!
Cheers!

My 2 teenage sons and I visited in July for 3 nights. To say we loved it would be an understatement. The whole feel of the Ranch is beautiful, peaceful with scenic walks to the nearby creek. We stayed in the Yurt, where the 3 of us and our dog Willy were very comfortable. Yurt is quite stylish, with all one might need with kitchen and bathroom. I would sit on the porch and not want to leave. We can’t wait to go back, 3 nights wasn’t enough. We did not meet Sally (the owner of the ranch) personally, but made contact over phone and a very nice connection was made, she is very helpful, personable. Her beautiful calm dog came to visit us, it made us feel at home to have him around. Chickens also came for a visit! Highly highly recommended.

Good: The place is nice, a pastoral setting near the Willamette River. We picked it for a MTB trip with friends.
Mediocre: The cabins themselves are so-so; ours was fairly dirty, there were exposed wires in some of the outlets, and my fiancee was awakened in the middle of the night by a family of mice running across the kitchen counters.
The awful: The hosts are just not welcoming. Communication prior to the visit was spotty, and each one brought new rules and demands. Names of all visitor, make, model and license plate of each car that will be there, pet deposit, larger pet deposit, oh BTW no pets can be left alone in the cabins despite having paid a huge pet deposit, oh BTW no dogs off leash on the property despite the web page describing all the open space for dogs to roam. Once there, you see that the cabins are located literally feet from the hosts' house, so you will be watched coming and going and you'll hear about any slip-up with the rules. If your goal is to get away from it all and relax unhindered, this is not the place.

Response from Sally Harmon, Owner at Tired Dog Ranch
Responded Jul 9, 2020
What could have been a wonderful 4th of July weekend turned into an unfortunate experience with this group. And what results is their retaliatory trumped-up review. Our ranch is incredibly dog/animal friendly--we have dogs, cat, rescue horses, rescue sheep, and free range chickens to share with our guests. For those bringing pets, we allow dogs on leash anywhere on the property ( 18 acres!) and dogs are allowed off-leash on over 4 acres in our bucolic upper meadow! It's a dog and human paradise amongst the evergreens and pastures. Dogs are absolutely allowed in the dwellings but if you leave they either should go with you or they need to be crated. This is pretty standard industry policy. This group brought at least FOUR dogs WITHOUT informing us of any pets at all on their reservation and REFUSED to put their dogs on leashes, allowing them to run around without regard for other guests' comfort and safety and the safety of our resident animals. We kindly asked them several times to put their pets on leash when in common areas and they would not comply. We had a full house 4th of July with many families, children, and other pets and this group's blanket refusal to leash their pets in common areas ended up in us asking them to leave--the first time I've ever asked a party to leave in 15 years of successfully hosting guests from all over the world. I've never experienced a more disrespectful, hostile group of guests. I fully refunded them their remaining days and did not charge any security deposit fees or cleaning fees even though they left a considerable amount of dog hair throughout the cabin especially from their Great Pyrenees. All dwellings are cleaned thoroughly and staged for each guest. Please look at my other reviews (hundreds) and my almost 5 STAR Status on AIRBNB for cleanliness, communication, and service. We tried very hard to accommodate this group and were looking forward to a great 4th of July weekend. Sincerely, Sally, Tired Dog Ranch

We just spent a wonderful 3 days camping at Tired Dog Ranch. Very relaxing and quiet. Sally is a wonderful host.
We rented the kitchen/shower bldg, however, we had to wait a day for Sally to replace the hot water heater. It was quickly fixed and the hot shower was wonderful.

An excellent location for a quiet weekend with the besties! The hosts joined us one evening for cocktail hour, which was lovely. Close enough to town for a meal but far enough away to enjoy the peace and serenity that is the country. Can't wait to return!

lotta mice in the kitchen that came out to play between 2 am and 4 am. just be ready to chill like a villain with the mice if you decide to stay here. Rules about pets here tend to come and go just like we came and went after we were woken up by the mice.

This was an experience I'll never forget because the laidbackness of the yurt, the surroundings and the overall vibe have been what I was hoping for prior to booking, and actually got during my two nights' stay.
Sally was a great host, communicative and honest.
I wish we could have stayed longer.

Had a reunion with high school friends and it was a perfect setting. Fun, rustic cabin but not too rustic. Plenty of room including the loft. Went hiking on two different trails, one went by a scenic creek and could be too wet in the winter but the other was graveled and would be great year around. Other cabins and a yurt looked inviting. Would like to bring my horse in the summer as they have a place for your horse and the trails would make great horseback riding. Friendly manager, and such a scenic, quiet, place to stay!

Starting with the good, the place is quiet, and there are some cute things on the inside. Loved the bowl of farm fresh eggs and butter. We stayed in the carriage house, and we suspect we were the first guests to stay in that unit this season. The heat was on but the place felt cold and damp; the place was overrun by spiders, two of the bath towels smelled like a sweaty gym, the igniter on two of the range burners didn't work, and of greatest concern there were exposed wires and several missing outlet covers. Inside missing window trim and flaking white paint next to kitchen table. The outside of all the buildings and grounds look much more neglected and tired than the dog; scattered shovels, old windows on the ground, outside of the yurt and other structures covered with green mold, and old tarps and debris everywhere. We felt sad for the sweet dog and cats who greeted us then sat outside our unit for hours, in the pouring rain. All in all just felt like the entire ranch is tired.

Response from Sally H, Owner at Tired Dog Ranch
Responded May 20, 2019
I'm so very sorry your experience in the Carriage House was not pleasant. Sounds like the entire grounds weren't your cup of tea! I do believe you were the first to rent after it received a new paint job and outlet covers not yet installed. My apologies, truly. I should have rejected your request and taken more time to prepare the dwelling for someone else's arrival. The patina on the the wood sash window sills lands well on most, but may be a little less charming for others - all a part of the eclectic charm. Personal preference possibly? It is a farm and those antique windows are not perfectly airtight - a tough challenge which prompted new screens to be installed after your departure. With buildings that don't receive constant heat, sometimes burners need a kick start with a flint - hope that worked to get the juices flowing again. All in all, I think you will be pleased with the fun renovations that have taken place since your visit new heater, new covered entry, new patio, grounds clean up after a new cement floor was laid at the Long House for which you witnessed much personal property under tarps while the cement cured - and as a one woman band, I can do only so much to hopefully continue to chip away at these 18 acres - never a dull moment. FYI, the green "mold" on the canvas of the yurt is actually moss - pretty tough tackle job for this dwelling tucked in the shade of evergreens - a bi-yearly cleaning that maybe should be bumped to a yearly ordeal. As for pets being neglected, quite the contrary. Simba, my fluffy border collie likely stayed at your door to receive food. He is loyal as the day is long to that ;). I was raised to be respectful and if there is a complaint or concern, go to the source. I'm sorry you felt compelled to provide such a bad review instead of reaching out to help make this experience better for another with private input. It would have been greatly appreciated.
