Really nice location near local shops and restaurants. Quaint, has that inn-type charm. Hostess checking me in was gracious, very helpful and super patient. Beds were really comfortable. Electric fireplace was a nice touch. Big jacuzzi in the room but did not use it. Next morning, breakfast was as described in earlier reviews- supermarket English muffins and bread, local jam...

Just returned from a "girl's weekend" with my sister, friend and their grown daughters. We picked Doylestown as a charming town with lots to do and it and the surrounding area didn't disappoint. First the pros of Hargrave House: location is great, walk out the door to shops and restaurants; beds are super comfortable although not sure they were all...

Our son and his fiance found this charming place while venue searching for their September 2012 wedding. Once they decided on a Doylestown wedding, we booked all 7 rooms at The Old Hargrave House, splitting the rooms between both families and the bride and groom. This was a perfect environment for the families, both adults and children, to connect in...

I found Hargrave House on tripadvisor when I was checking out lodging in the Doylestown area for a girls weekend away, and we were certainly not disappointed! We were warmly greeted by Sandy, and she explained all of the ins and outs of the place. She recommended a fabulous place for dinner (Paganini's) and cooked us a great breakfast to...

Lorna is a fabulous raconteur, but with that lovely British reserve, doesn't give up the stories unless you ask for them. She metes them out, so that I never had that "uh oh" feeling I can get around garrulous innkeepers. She just gets it. Every other guest who came in for breakfast this morning is the type I'd want to...

When we decided to meet our friends from Philadelphia for a weekend in Doylestown, we wanted to be within walking distance of the Mercer Museum and the James Michener Museum. So the Hargrave House certainly fit the bill. The original part of the building is from the early 1800s, where we enjoyed a delicious customed-ordered breakfast in a homey room...

The Hargrave House seemed an excellent choice as we were attending the Burpee's seed company's (10 minutes away from downtown Doylestown) agriculture open house. It is centrally located. All boutiques in this historic town were within walking distance as well as the over 50 restaurants. Needless to say, Lorna made our stay more than what we had expected , her...

I used tripadvisor to help plan our 10th anniversary. The Hargrave House looked like a perfect spot to spend the night. We had the whole upstairs to our selves this night in the Doylestown Suite. The innkeeper Lorna was fabulous our entire stay. Although we live in the area, she provided an experience that made us appreciate the history in...

Lived in Eyrope for 6 years while in the Air Force. Hargrave House returned me to those wonderful times at European inns. Lorna could not possibly be more accommodating, social, or endearing as a host. Decor was a delight, breakfasts a special time. Poached eggs "perfectly shaped and soft yoke, oh my ! The Philadelphia area is often neglected as a tourist destination as it is somewhat dwarfed by its Northeast neighbors of New York City and Washington. But the city itself is worth a lengthy visit (Just watch out for where in town you go, especially at night) and the suburbs can be terrific. Among the suburbs, the Main Line ( Bryn...

“Many rooms have real down pillows and beds. For those of us with allergies, there are rooms, just as luxurious, that are hypoallergenic. So if allergies are an issue, be sure to ask.”

“The website mentions Jacuzzi's in every room. This was not true for # 2 on the main / ground floor. We paid the web price asked and did not make a fuss about the mistake in advertising. If Jacuzzi is important - do not select # 2. Additionally, do not select # 2 if you are overly sensitive to street noise.”
