We just stayed one night. The room was very clean and in good condition and well lit. The room and bathroom are small. Room included a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The beds were reasonably comfortable with a choice of pillows. Nice towels for a budget place. Bedding was average. It was very quiet. The motel had no vacancy, but I never heard neighbors or cars coming and going.

Late night check-in was not great. Reservation indicated arrival by 11 PM. At 10 PM the office was locked and we had to call for assistance. Then the transaction was through a little slot in the window. We also forgot to ask for the wifi password. I felt a little bad about not arriving earlier.

There are certainly more upscale options in the area, but this is a good place for people who mostly need a clean bed and shower. Will stay again.

It's not a "Hotel ", it a motel. It'd not a 5 star and of course it's not a 4 star "hotel ". Motel stands for low rate travel stay. If your passing through and need a place to crash for the night this place is perfect. If you're looking for small, quite, get away place that's small and has nearly sound proof walls, and you want to have that down and dirty feel in the Bates Motel this place is perfect.
My suggestion is ask for an end room and if you want to save money do not request the new building. What you pay for is not worth the cost of $71.00. Ask for the old building and the rates are cheaper.
I watched them clean the rooms at this motel and the two girls I watched were very thorough at cleaning and sweeping everything. They wiped down every surface with an disinfect.
There is a wonderful pizza restaurant across the street, Burger King next door, a Turkey Hill mini market as well. If you want more of a tavern head east one mile and you have two on the right. If you head east three miles into the town of Mount Joy, there is a fantastic restaurant on the right called Gus's Restaurant and it is rated very high for customer satisfaction. If you head west two mile into the town of Elizabethtown you will find a strip mall on the right with a Kmart and a little past thr strip mall a Giant grocery store on the left.

Had a wedding nearby and needed a place to spend the night. Needed early access as the wedding started at 2pm and check in was 3 pm. Emailed and requested early access or a place to change. No problem, got there at 12;30 room was ready. Nothing fancy, but clean and quiet. Very helpful staff.

It's very hard to find a reasonably priced place to stay in the area in the summer months. This hotel was retro, nothing fancy but clean and didn't smell musty. The maid staff was great! Bed was comfortable, could use better pillows you may want to bring your own. They do have older rooms and a newER section in the back. Great little Italian restaurant across the street and also a shopping area about 1 mile down the road with restaurants, supermarkets etc...

The room was dingy to say the least, if I had any sense I would have left after opening the door of the room and taking the $60.00 loss for the night. The soap provided was smaller than a domino piece and I noticed centipedes scurrying across the bathroom floor when exposed to the light. The shower was smaller than a phone booth and the chair in the room was a rickety and dirty and should have been thrown out years ago.
The bottom line is that you get what you pay for and for as much as I travel I should have known better than to expect anything worthwhile for the price. I would have been better off sleeping on the ground at the 'Return to Mananas' site.

Is there anything below basic room? Can you say "Dump"? Refrigerator in room, and a coffee pot as well; but you have to supply your own coffee. Also supply your own facial tissues. God forbid you have to sneeze. The room does come with a fly swatter! Norman Bates would be happy here. Not cheap, either. Pizza place across the street, but other eateries are not close.

I very rarely give 5 stars to anything. It seems weird to give it to this motel, but you must absolutely be aware of what you're getting and paying for, sand then yes, 5 stars apply.

We booked this hotel rather last-minute for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend. We had other hotels reserved that would have cost between $500 and $400 for 2 nights, but we cancelled them when we got the Red Rose reservation at about $87 a night.

This is a bargain, no-frills motel. No pool or breakfast, no lobby or sitting area, etc. The room was dated and worn, but clean. The bed was comfortable, there were two chairs and a table, 2 beds, TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Oh yeah, and a fly swatter.

The walls were thin and we easily heard the kids next door to us, but luckily they were young and bedtime came early. We spoke with our neighbors when they went out for a cigarette and they seemed like a pleasant family. Sitting outside your room with the provided lawn chairs was enjoyable.

We saw rabbits just about every day. And honestly, the biggest reason I booked it after the price was that you can walk through a fence to get to Burger King.

I was a bit nervous, but in the end I decided I would return to this motel. It's not a 5-star place, maybe not even a 3-star place. But, if you're not a lodging snob it can be an entertaining and affordable spot.

The room did smell a bit, and our bed was made pretty hap-hazardly the next day, but again, it's about what I would expect for the price. My wife, kids, and I had no complaints when leaving.

Room Tip: I believe that rooms 16 and 28 may be larger rooms, as they were stand-alone buildings (1 door).

We made reservations for two nights here to escape the cost of hotels in Hershey .... weren't sure what to expect but this little place was wonderful. Rooms were clean and we had plenty of room...I do think that we were in the newer section of the hotel and we asked for a king bed so our room was probably a little bigger than some. Overall it was great...would recommend this place if you like a smaller mom & pop type motel. It was a short drive to Hershey, which by the way was rather disappointing...didn't realize everything is in the amusement park which we had no desire to go to...

Rooms at the Red Rose are about 1/3 of the cost of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express. Friends who stayed at the HIE said it was dirty there.
