We decided to give this hotel a second try after they screwed us in January, 2020, by telling us they had no record of a reservation made the previous November. They are pet friendly and near family, which is why we gave them a 2nd chance. We arrived Friday night, January 20th, around 8:00 pm, and our first glitch was the light in the entrance to the room was one of those LED lights that didn’t light up at all, even after several minutes. We had to get a regular light bulb from the front desk and move furniture to screw it in. The pet friendly rooms are on the 3rd floor, and there is a large fenced in area to take the dogs outside to, to do their business. Unfortunately, there is NO LIGHTING at night and I stepped in other dog’s poop on both shoes. I had to take my shoes to the lobby and ask for a utility sink and brush to use to clean them off. The manager on duty directed me to the first floor Ladies Room and gave me a toilet brush; ycch! Saturday night I opted to walk our dogs out to the grass by the parking lot since there were lights in that area. Unfortunately, it wasn’t lit well enough because I again stepped in dog poop and had to clean my shoes in the same bathroom, which hadn’t been cleaned since I was there on Friday night! Also, litter dotted the parking lot area and made it very unsightly… The room itself had a comfortable king size bed, and had some signs of being renovated: there was vinyl plank flooring and the bathroom looked like it had been re-done. Unfortunately, the shower water pressure was horrible and the towels were small and of low quality. We were supplied one hand towel, two washcloths, two bath towels, and one bath mat. The shower curtain barely touched the top of the bathtub. On Saturday morning I asked for an extra bath towel from Housekeeping. They took our hand towel and only gave us two clean bath towels, two clean washcloths, and one bath mat! No extra bath towel. The refrigerator worked, but there was a noticeable gap on the door, so there was frosting all over the shelving. The room came with Keurig, and the coffee pods produced delicious coffee. Breakfast was pretty horrible. The eggs had to have been re-constituted and the super salty bacon was paper thin. They did offer small juuices, yogurts, cereals, bread and english muffins to toast (with an excellent toaster). Would we stay there again? If it was the only choice that was pet friendly and near our family….…
1st I stayed at the hotel across the highway from the casino. If you relish the boundaries of human nature, and or numerous LOUD arguments in hotel hallways between the local clientele at 1-4am (like both nights I stayed there), enjoy your stay and proximity to the casino! I'm really not picky but I will never stay at the Hampton Inn again either. That said, THIS HOTEL is absolutely perfect. Clean!!!, nicely renovated (or new, not sure which), nice views, QUIET!!. Reasonable rates!, As nice a breakfast as you'll likely find, AND The family and staff that runs it are as lovely as could be!!! This is my 4th day of my third stay, and could not be happier.
It was very very clean! But very old and out of the way! The heated light was broken in the bathroom! No handrails! I would have liked two hand towels! The heating unit was either off or on no setting for auto! So you either be cold or burn up all night! Breakfast was good!
The Inn at Mountainview is definitely a family-owned business. No fake greetings. I was welcomed from the beginning, and they were very accommodating if I needed something. They were real people and provided great service. The room was clean and welcoming with a refrigerator, microwave, desk, and coffee area with a Keurig. No carpet on the floor and I really liked that because it was clean and felt very open. The price was good for the area and close enough to shops and restaurants. It was far enough from the main road to not hear traffic. Plenty of parking and the back of the Hotel is right next to a Speedway convenience store if I needed anything, I could walk there. The continental breakfast was okay but if they added fresh hard-boiled eggs and oatmeal, I would have eaten there every morning. I am not a big fan of processed foods. They did have bananas and if there was more fruit like apples and oranges it would have been a welcomed addition. It is possible that they have done that, and it was left to rot. There is a computer with a printer, but it did not work. If this was working, I would have given this hotel 5 stars. There is a small gym and not bad but if there were free weights and a yoga mat it would have been a welcomed addition. The bed was comfy, bathroom clean and the shower was hot. I felt safe and at home. It is pet friendly which I also love because who doesn't like dogs. I recommend this hotel because I had a great experience. …
When I was very young, the Mountain View Inn was where the rich folk from Pittsburgh stayed when visiting the Laurel Highlands. Times have changed; after a fire and having part of the building torn down, this place was in bad shape. But the new owners have done a nice job of renovation -- and the rooms still are really large by current standards. No, it's not quite back to the glory of the old days -- but neither are the prices. Comfortable bed, good plumbing, good WiFi, and friendly staff. Breakfast was limited but mostly fresh items (including yummy locally-sourced muffins). The evening of our stay, someone in a room above ours let a tub overflow, which sent water dripping into our entryway (*NOT* the hotels fault). The staff promptly switched us to a downright gigantic room, also very comfortable. Finally, the Inn is dog-friendly. We got our dog-petting fix in the hallway near the elevator with the cutest little dogs, and were entertained by energetic dogs racing around the enclosed dog run area. But there were no signs of dog habitation in either of our rooms, so no worries on that front.…
Keeping this factual and objective. Rooms are larger than normal in this range. Ample space. Lighting was poor as 4 bulbs were out. Bathroom was large, but sink outside in the room. We paid $54 a night on priceline. Fair price for the quality. Breakfast is pretty bland. Coffee was out whenever we tried to get some. All of these issues could be resolved if they had staffing which was lacking. Biggest issue was key system was down, do needed to have manager left you in your room.
We spent two nights at this property and were very surprised to find it had been completely updated like....a year ago. On line photos are not current. Love the new look. Hard surface flooring and no carpeting in rooms is great...so much cleaner. Rooms are large and nicely appointed. Would gladly stay again!!
I loved this hotel. It truly is a gem. They have upgraded the rooms and amenities. They never closed, so I am not sure what that other reviewer was talking about. I spoke with the manager and you can tell he is very hard working and takes pride in what he does. I will be staying here again!
The hotel is closed, and has been closed for quite some time. It’s on the market, as in “for sale”. The staff was phenomenal but the owners were awful. The didn’t care about the Inn, the staff, or the guests. We had stayed here repeatedly over the years and are extremely upset that the owners treated the site and staff so poorly.
The staff is very friendly both welcoming us with bright smiles! They helped me get into a suit for a little get away with the big jet tubs! It was one of the most peaceful nights i have had in a long time. I wish they could of had breakfast but i understand with the covid-19 things are a little rough still! But they were so kind to let me know who delivers and pointed me over to speedway i think it was for some hot fresh coffee and some warm breakfast! My room was beautiful and very clean too!
