My husband and I booked a weekend to celebrate my birthday and attend the Wally Wine Festival. We stayed in one of the cabins about a half mile from the main building. The cabin was very nice - everything looked new and clean. While there is a pretty view of the lake, I wouldn't call it exactly lake front. After exploring a little bit, we found an unmarked trail near cabin 11 that took us through the woods to a water access point. I also hadn't realized how close the cabins would be to the road, which was pretty busy and noisy. I'd never been to Hawley, and it seems like that's the set up for many of the houses/resorts there. So it was a nice stay, just not quite the secluded, waterfront cabin I was picturing. Our wine tasting on Saturday had a rocky start. We arrived at 4:30 for our 5:00 seating, and things were generally disorganized and chaotic: Lots of folks wandering around, asking each other if they knew where to go, tables still being cleaned and serviced from the previous seating. When we tried to clarify the check-in process with the hostess at the front desk, she told us, "If your reservation is for 5:00, that means you come at 5:00." Once we were finally checked in, we had a beautiful view and loved all the wine, food, and explanations! Before heading home, we did the champagne brunch at Settlers Inn, which was excellent. Great food, service, and ambience.…
The stay was not what we were expecting. Upon arrival we were told that we would be staying 6 miles down the road at a separate location. The room could not have been further from the cozy cottage that was advertised. I booked with Silver Birches because of the "romantic inns with rambling porches, and everywhere you look an impressive view of Wallenpaupack from expansive lawns with Adirondack chairs and camp fires.” I tried to be a good sport about it, but when neither the wifi nor the tv’s were working, we called and asked to be moved. There was nothing available. I was disappointed to learn that the wifi issues had been going on for months. I reached out to management a few days ago but have yet to hear back. I think if we were at the main property, the experience would have been worthwhile, but this is not a typical B&B.…
We just returned from one night at Silverbirches. I found the resort on an internet search of the Poconos and am so happy I discovered this beautiful hotel! We decided to stay here for the location and it’s proximity to Big Bear mountain...which was a 25 minute drive. My family and I stayed in the Bunkhouse in a room on the first floor. We had a beautiful view of the (frozen) lake and I would imagine it’s even prettier during the warmer months. The room was cozy and had a queen sized bed and a bunk bed in a separate bedroom. My kids absolutely loved the bunk bed! One piece of advice I would give is to request a room on the second floor. It sounded like a herd of elephants in the room above us and we had to listen to stomping and noise all night..even to the point where it was difficult to fall asleep. I literally could hear to conversations of the people above us. At 5pm we went to the main lodge for a sunset toast with champagne and the most delicious lemon thyme cookies. It really was very beautiful and was an amazing way to kick off our getaway. The woman who works there was so nice and encouraged my son to stuff his pockets with the cookies:) We ate dinner at the Dock, which was good but overpriced for what it was. I ordered a dirty martini which arrived in a glass of crushed ice..eek! A big disappointment...the bartender should learn how to make a proper martini..especially with those prices! We had a lovely breakfast the following morning and the food was really good and plentiful. We checked out at 11am and headed off for a day of tubing. I wanted to purchase a bottle of water during check-out but they didnt sell water so the woman in the office graciously gave me her own bottle of seltzer!! She literally went in her bag and handed me the bottle and refused to accept money for it. This shows you the kind of customer service you will get here as a guest. The entire staff could not have been more generous or friendly. So, despite the few hiccups, we had a beautiful little getaway and look forward to returning in the summer. One more note..they do not provide glasses in the rooms (only paper coffee cups) so if you want to enjoy a glass of wine, you may want to see if the restaurant can lend you some.…
With Covid about, options for celebrating my wife's birthday were limited. She suggested the Poconos and I found Silver Birches. We booked a large suite overlooking the lake, Room 14, and it was spacious and comfortable. Being Covid-careful, we ate our meals in the room, but the breakfast worked out fine, the coffee was tasty and the views of the lake, the night time stars and surrounding area were wonderful. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and we thank them for leaving us a birthday treat in the fridge. It was nice that the crowds were sparse, the snow was fresh and the sun was out .We look forward to returning to the Silver Birches in the spring or summer for more outdoor activities.
5 stars does not even begin to do this place justice. My boyfriend booked us a weekend trip through Airbnb. When we arrived, we were greeted by 2 of the kindest women in the hospitality industry we have ever come across. We were given complimentary champagne, complimentary breakfast passes for every morning we were there, activity sheets, places to go, things to do, etc. We were also UPGRADED to a cottage, and when I tell you this place was absolutely gorgeous, again an understatement!! We woke-up with hot coffee, snow, and stared at the peaceful lake right form our front porch. We will 1000% be returning in the summer to see the activities they have during the warmer months, but all in all, i beyond HIGHLY recommend Silver Birches!!!
