My husband and I come to the hotel every few months for 2 nights. Sometimes we do a day at the spa, sometimes not. Hotel Hershey and Hershey in general, is one of my fave places on the planet. We have a bunch of kids and coming here every so often allows us to be alone and reconnect. I know this is going to sound strange, but we have a little routine of things we like to do and eat while there. It’s always fantastic. This particular visit left me feeling disappointed. We checked in, and found out Harvest was not open either night of our stay. We eat at Harvest every time we visit - and I always get the same thing, which I believe is the best item on the menu... the Bavarian pretzel and cheese board. It’s amazing. Grapes, berries, and various meats and cheeses. I was sad to realize it was closed. We ended up going to Trevi, the only restaurant open, and it was only ok. I’ve had two bad experiences in the past here. The food just wasn’t that good. So I got the bruschetta app which was actually great! My husband ordered lasagna. They didn’t serve any bread with his meal. We asked if we could have some but were told that because of Covid, they don’t do ‘complimentary’ bread. So the waiter very kindly let him have a piece of the bread (toast) the bruschetta was made from. We went to Iberian lounge afterwards for a drink....They also have a Bavarian pretzel board - but it is NOT THE SAME. It’s a very scaled down version of what harvest offers. For dessert I grabbed the usual dark chocolate muffin at the all-day cafe. These are usually to die for. They are moist and have chocolate chips in them - some which sink to the bottom of the muffin- and you end up with a thick chunk of delicious chocolate at the bottom. Sadly, this one was dry with no chocolate chips. I was bummed. I buy them for my kids and bring them home and their favorite part is the chocolate chunk at the bottom. Lol We headed back to the room where we like to stream a movie or one of our shows through google chrome cast. What an amazing thing to offer hotel guests- by the way. Netflix, Prime, Hulu... just streams right onto the tv. So, we got undressed and very ‘comfortable’ if you know what I mean. I went to get a drink and was annoyed when I remembered that there are no glasses in the room. We also didn’t have the complimentary water bottle they usually give or the liner for the ice bucket. We called to ask for those and when the gentleman delivered these, I asked him why we couldn’t have glasses in the room, but they were ok to have via room service and the restaurants. He shrugged and said ‘Covid’. So my cocktail was drank in a small plastic cup. Not really a big deal though. So we turned the tv on and realized the chrome cast didn’t work. We called The front desk and they sent up a very kind gentleman who really wasn’t tech savvy. He apologized profusely said the tech guy would be in tomorrow morning. He asked the front desk if they could comp an on demand movie for the night for us. We were ok with that. (They charge $20 for one movie!!) so that’s what we did. The next morning, at 10am, we got a knock on the door. It was the tech guy. We rummaged through the closet, put on robes, and let him in. He was so kind and after about 45 minutes, just decided to change out the box. It appeared to be working. We got dressed and decided to walk the gardens. Afterwards, we’d put a movie on and relax. Well, we got back and were ready to put a movie on. The New chrome cast didn’t work either. It appeared to be a different problem this time. We called the front desk and they sent another guy up who had no idea what was going on. After another 45 minutes, he apologized and said we could change rooms if we wanted, or offered two more free on demand movies. We decided to just watch pay per view and stay in the room. We got cozy and ready to watch the movie, when we heard a knock at the door. On went the robes again and to our surprise, it was a girl who delivered a tray of freshly popped and buttered popcorn with a very sincere note of apology. What a classy way to fix our issue. This is why I adore this hotel. The next morning, we checked out. Before leaving, I always stop at the cafe to bring home an ‘everything cookie’ for each of my kids. These are huge cookies with everything on them.. including our favorite... crushed potato chips. I was so disappointed to find out that not only were the cookies 1/2 the size for the same price, but they didn’t have potato chips on them. Boo. But that was ok, because I found out harvest was open for lunch and I could order the pretzel and cheese board and bring it home. My favorite part is slicing the Brie, putting it on top of a piece of pretzel along with the grapes. I got home and opened the box to find that the pretzel appeared way smaller than in the past- skinnier, and reheated - hard as a rock. There was NO Brie. I was so bummed. I ordered one to take home to my mom because I raved about it so much in the past. I was so disappointed to give it to her. All in all, we will still come back to Hershey. We love this hotel so much, and would highly recommend it to anyone who may want to go to Hershey. I’m just a bit annoyed that the little things I like there could remain consistent. It has been everytime previously, as well as during covid. This time they didn’t meet my expectations. Sorry to sound negative And Picky... most people wouldn’t care about any of the issues I had... but I thought I’d just be honest. I have a few simple pleasures in life, ya know? Maybe someone from Hershey can see this and get back to doing things the way they used to. And the spa- it’s fabulous. The only thing I can complain about is they don’t leave out cocoa, tea , water, muffins or trail mix anymore. You have to wait for a spa attendant to ask you. Which is fine, the problem is you can literally be waiting an hour before you see anyone. The last time I visited the spa (also during Covid) I saw one attendant the entire day I was there. I waited at least an hour for one and needed water so desperately I filled my husbands cup with bathroom sink water. I think there should be a designated person checking on all the rooms all the time-because People come and go- and I heard several people complaining about this. Again, do not let this deter you from staying here or going to the spa. Hershey is one of my fave places on earth! …
We (me, my husband, and our two kids—ages 9 and 16) had a wonderful 4-night stay at The Hotel Hershey. It’s a beautiful hotel with a truly historic feel. We had a room near the lobby, which was very convenient. The staff was very friendly and the amenities are nice (chocolate scented shampoo and soap in the rooms were a treat). The grounds are gorgeous, and we enjoyed both the outdoor and indoor pools. There are several shops with Hershey items that we didn’t see in the park gift shops. There are also several dining options that have great food, but are on the pricey side. We enjoyed table service breakfast at The Circular one morning and purchased bakery items in the Market Cafe on another (we hit a DD less than a mile away on the other two days). The hotel is basically across the street from Hershey Park. Since the shuttle wasn’t running, they provided free parking passes for the duration of our stay, which worked well. Resort guests can enter the park 1 hour early, which was a plus. We also received free admission to both The Hershey Story and Hershey Gardens included in our stay. I highly recommend visiting both attractions—you can walk to the Gardens from the hotel, and the museum is only a 5-minute drive. We enjoyed our stay, and we’ll definitely be back!…
We stayed in a cottage which was great. There were three of us and we have 2 queen beds. The porch was amazing and was a great place to hang out. Ordered room service for breakfast every morning and always arrived timely with everything you'd need. Enjoyed the pool very much! We definitely will be back!
I never knew the definition of pampered until we stayed at the Hotel Hershey. From the moment we checked in, every detail was looked after by the staff. They were always looking for ways to improve our experience. The hotel transportation was essential and brought us to different locations off site. We felt like we had our own driver. This was a special place for a special occasion.
The Hotel Hershey was just what I needed and I didn’t realize it until all the pampering began from the super friendly staff! During the age of COVID the the front desk staff had clear partitions to offer protection for staff and guests. The check-in process has been streamlined and is done promptly! Most interactions with staff result in being offered Hershey’s Chocolates in all varieties (Kisses; Dark Chocolate Reese’s, etc). I had enough to make a Hershey’s care package for my Dad..Lol During my stay the hotel was at 25% capacity and this was perfect for me to explore the spacious grounds without running into too many people in my walkabouts! There were many activities offered to engage guests, such as: Chocolate Bingo; Crafts and S’mores Roasting in the fire pit outdoors! The grounds; lobby; stores were all clean and the staff were friendly! During COVID the Chef’s Market Store is open until 9p to get snacks! All other food can be ordered through room service or restaurants on-site! I suggest going out in the town and exploring restaurants or breweries (Troeg’s Brewery is down the road)! My favorite part of the weekend was my trip to the spa (read my separate review on The Spa @ Hershey). Overall, Milton Hershey’s legacy of the leaving behind a place that gives a welcoming feeling on beautiful grounds makes you feel like you are at the ‘Sweetest Place On Earth’! …
