Can’t say enough about Tru in Hershey. Location is great. Hotel is pretty new and breakfast being included was a big plus as well. However, the staff went above and beyond and were also extremely friendly. Price is reasonable as well. Highly recommend this hotel if staying near Hershey attractions.

Stayed three nights on the first floor in this hotel. The rooms are designed in a modern style that's reflected in the decor throughout, but it also includes no carpet on the floors and there are also no drawers making the room easier to clean. This type of hotel is preferable as for me, it provides a comfort level with the true and complete cleanliness of the room. The room was outfitted with 2 queen beds, desk, plenty of lighting, wooden hangers, places to recharge electronics, huge TV, small fridge, plenty of towels, hairdryer and plenty of lotion, shampoo and conditioner. Blackout shade. Walls are thin so hallway and other room conversations can be heard. Breakfast offers many selections for morning nutrition. Coffee and hot tea are available at any time. Reception area offers nooks for reading or working, lots of seating. A recreation area there is outfitted with two foosball tables as well as board games. There's a store where guests can purchase snacks and other more nutritious items like soup or mac 'n cheese. There's a weight room and a swimming pool. Three upper floors are accessible by elevator. The entry is seamless so handicapped visitors are easily accommodated and there are several handicapped rooms available with a roll-in shower. Staff members are friendly and accommodating. Located at the edge of residential neighborhood, so it's a quiet location.

Dear Melaniemily, Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how we did! The Tru by Hilton brand is the newest in the Hilton Portfolio and offers a more modernized style of accommodations - eliminating closet space and drawers, but offering alternatives for storage throughout the room, replacing bottles of shampoo/soaps with bulk dispensers, etc. Its minimal and clever design allows you a unique space to relax, work, play and chew. We are so glad you enjoyed the brand and your stay with us! We hope to see you again soon!

Stayed here for one night and it was a good stay. This was our first time at a Tru brand hotel and the room is pretty basic, but if you're just seeking a clean, comfortable, utilitarian place to spend the night then this hotel provides that. Actually, it goes a step above utilitarian. The lobby is stylish. Everything was new and clean. We ended up with an accessible room and both the room and bathroom were spacious. The room has brightly colored accents and curtains ("Very nice!" said my toddler). I didn't love the bedding (it wasn't as plush as I've had in some other comparable hotels) but I did appreciate that the hotel uses the type of comforter that appears to get washed with the sheets rather than the decorative comforters you see at some older hotels. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the TV, internet and A/C all worked well. The room also has good blackout curtains and was very quiet. Oh, and the room had wood floors (or faux wood, maybe) rather than carpeting, which I really appreciate from a cleanliness standpoint. My only real complaint is that the room didn't have a closet, just a little cubby with hangers, but that's not a big deal for a short stay. It's also located right beside a residential neighborhood so the view into people's backyards and the lack of walkable restaurants/entertainment is a little weird.
As far as Covid-19 pandemic precautions, the hotel is doing a good job. Every staff person we saw was masked and although we didn't see many guests the ones we did see were wearing masks as well. The hotel has "mask required" signs on the front doors and in the lobby. They have hand sanitizer stations set up in front of each elevator so you can easily sanitize your hands before and after riding the elevator. For the complimentary breakfast they have made the wise decision to hand out a bagged breakfast. You then have the option to dine downstairs if you want to, although most people seemed to be taking their food back to their rooms to eat (which is what we did). I liked this much better than the situation at other hotels we have stayed at recently where they are still doing breakfast in a communal dining room. We have needed to stay at several hotels since the pandemic began and overall Tru has done the best job so far.

We stayed one night at the Tru in late February. Odd location.. kind of in the middle of an old neighborhood. Good parking and views though.
I like the Tru rooms with hooks on the walls and open shelves for your stuff. My son and husband do not. For a one night stay, I find that hanging our coats on the hooks and being able to just open your duffel bag on a shelf is very efficient. All of us agreed that the soap and shampoo containers were efficient and very nicely scented.
The breakfast was a very nice set up with two employees serving food based upon your picks. A couple of dry cereals, oatmeal, pancakes and breakfast sandwiches were options which is impressive considering covid. I am not a fan of the grab and go bag with a Nutrigrain bar, etc. Employees Jeremy and Stephanie were there to assist and make sure everyone was happy and well fed!
The security at the hotel was impressive. If you did not have a key, the front desk person has to let you in. They were also multi tasking but I did not have an issue getting in to check in.
I found the rates I paid a good deal compared to other hotels in the area coupled with this hotel being very new.

Dear HFLtraveler, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. The Tru by Hilton brand is a new brand within the Hilton portfolio, and your feedback goes a long way in ensuring we can enhance the experience of all of our guests at the hotel. You are right, we are definitely built in odd area being placed next to our neighbors but their are so many benefits to being where we are.. We are away from busy streets but close enough to all Hershey has to offer, there is plenty of parking and easily accessible, very safe neighborhood and we have an awesome view of the sweetest place on earth :) I love that you like this design! The Tru by Hilton brand offers a more modernized style of accommodations - Bulk dispensers replace the small shampoo bottles to control waste and as the Tru by Hilton is not an extended stay hotel they have taken the dressers away and eliminated closet space, but offer alternatives for storage throughout the room like under bed storage, under the bench and hooks on the walls. Breakfast is constantly changing as new guidelines rise and fall. It isn't a true TRU breakfast because we are not doing buffet style at this time but as things open up, so we will. We hope to have you back again to enjoy our full, hot, build your own breakfast with waffles and more. I appreciate the shout out to myself and Jeremy as we were the ones to assist you during your stay :) We hope you think of us again on your next visit to Hershey!

Stayed at a TRU by Hilton in Hershey Pennsylvania this past weekend and was my first time experiencing one of Hilton’s newest brands. Was not my first choice as others were sold out but it did work to serve the basic needs. It appears the chain is trying to be a value “fun” place to stay at similar to the All-Star Resorts at Walt Disney World. The rooms are small (#1 complaint someone working the desk told me) and there are a lot of things missing from your room like a chair, closet, ice bucket, microwave, etc. Everything including the tables are very small, although they did manage to squeeze a confirmable king size bad in the room with little space to spare. When arriving at the hotel front door with all the mottos on it made me feel like I was walking into a TGI Fridays. The lobby is large and splashed with designs you might find in a youth center and also had a game area. In our room there was a small metal bar hanging from the to hang clothes plus an assortment of hooks on the wall. Their was a nice TV on the wall but the channels were limited and the streaming services they offered either would not start up or kept dropping after a minute or two. The halls make you feel like the 1960’s with mod art and even the elevator doors were trying to promote “fun”. There were no rugs anywhere on the property and I particularly did not like the hard cold floors in our room.
All of that aside though, the place was outstanding adequate to meet the basic needs and very clean as the property is only two years old. A larger room could be perfect for families with smaller kids or anyone who is just staying in the area to visit HersheyPark or for an event.
Although I did not feel the coziness during my stay like I would at a Hampton Inn ot Hilton Garden Inn, I would stay there again if necessary and also would recommend the place to anyone basically wanting a clean room plus a hot breakfast in the morning.

The Tru by Hilton brand offers a more modernized style of accommodations - eliminating closet space, but offering alternatives for storage throughout the room. It is not your regular room but the hotel itself has everything you will need. Ice buckets located with the ice machines on every other floor. Microwaves are located down in the lobby area for guest use 24 hours. . I will pass this along to our hotel staff and we appreciate the recommendation! Have a wonderful day.

We stayed here for 1 night with family for a visit to Hersheypark. It was a little off of the beaten path, but not difficult to find. When we walked into the lobby at about 5pm, it was extremely noisy. There was the check-in counter straight ahead, and behind it was a play area with foosball tables. The person checking us in (who was wonderfully nice!) could barely hear us and we could barely hear her over the noise of the kids playing and the parents talking. There were some tables with fabric covered booths along the right wall, and I noticed right away that the booth seating was filthy.
Our room was clean enough, I noticed that the counter tops were wiped down with something, but not extremely well, you could see the streaks of where everything was actually wiped down. There are no dresser drawers or any storage, which is fine for us, but if you like to unpack, there is no place to put your clothes.
You could tell that the bathroom had been "wiped down" but not extremely well, the corners of the floors had dirt in them and the shower had someone else's body hair on the floor.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows were super soft.
The breakfast was amazing! So many options, and everything was delicious. Plenty of fresh fruit, bagels, machines that made pancakes on request, cereal, yogurt, eggs, sausage...it was delicious.
There were disposable plastic gloves on each counter, with signs that said you must wear gloves when choosing your food. I noticed that most people bypassed the gloves, but a staff member came over and kindly told them that they needed to put gloves on and everyone that they spoke to complied. I was very happy to about that.
Overall, the stay was "good enough" but I would expect better with Hilton.
(for dinner, I recommend The Mill in Hershey, it was such a nice restaurant!)

We stayed at this hotel in February 2020 and then again in March 2021. I will first say - the staff is kind, helpful and really are trying to do their best. We see that and we appreciate it. However our experience a year apart were completely opposite. The room just wasn’t clean. The person at front desk came up to our room and “Recleaned” the areas we identified but it wasn’t enough. We have a toddler and a 10 year old. Our socks were all dirty just from walking in the room - their was food or something sticky on the lamps, their was dust and dirt in EVERY corner of the room. Sheets had stains on them. This was just not clean. For almost the entire stay, a majority of the hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel were empty. It was like we stayed at a totally different hotel this year than last. Upon check out I shared this with the front desk and begged them to have a manager go up to the room and look at it so that they can work with their staff on improving the experience for others . We are coming back through town again this weekend and have booked a different Hilton hotel - because of the lack of cleanliness of the rooms.

We checked in online with no issues. The staff was very friendly. The hotel and our room was very clean. They take Covid-19 precautions very serious. On our checkout morning the server prepared our breakfast into styrofoam containers and replaced her gloves for every person she served - making it very safe for travelers. Although the dining area was closed due to Covid, we were happy to take breakfast back to our room.
On that night I went down to front desk to request additional towels and blankets which they gladly provided and they also stated anything you need/required to let them know. This hotel has great customer service.
In general I was very pleased with my stay and would recommend the Tru by Hilton in Hershey, PA to anyone wanting to visit Hershey.

Stayed here for one night and found the room and hotel itself very clean. We often saw people cleaning hallways or wiping off counters. The rooms are very small making it hard to even walk around the bed. Our night was very noisy with younger kids running the hallways and yelling. The lobby area was constantly overrun with noisy kids as well. Breakfast was ok, but again too crowded. It was quite a wait to make a waffle and also had to wait for other items to be refilled and some never were. And finally, not enough seating for the breakfast.

I've never stayed at Tru before and will never stay there again. I was waiting in line and the desk associated told the couple in front me "We treat everyone like family, if you need anything just come down and ask anyone here" he even asked them what floor they would like to stay on. so I thought this might be good.
Well I made a reservation a month ago and went to check in, and the associate told me I was already checked in. I told him that was not possible because I had spent the day at the hospital with my wife and we did not check in online. after going around in circles he gave me a key to the room. I took my bags to the room, opened the door with the key and the room was OCCUPIED. and not with my stuff. I told the associate, who continued to go around in circles before finally giving me another room. the room he gave me was right beside the occupied room, i opened the door and this time it was not the size we reserved. this was 2 double beds and we made a reservation for 1 king. I showed the associate my reservation confirmation for the king bed and asked if he had any. as he walked away from me he picked up his cell phone and was talking to someone and made a comment about me wanting to change room again. All I wanted was an unoccupied version of the room my wife reserved in January. it shouldn't have been difficult. he never once took responsibilty for giving my room away, everything was a hassle to him, he kept blaming "the system" and he was clearly overwhelmed when things didn't go smoothly. I asked for a manager but apparently that hotel doesn't have one or at least one that admits to it. once I finally got into my room, my only thought was how small it was. I didn't sleep well, because after that debacle you wonder if they're going to give any more keys away to occupied rooms. The best part was leaving. it was alot of added stress and hassle for an 11 hour stay.
1.They put the safety of their guests at risk by giving out keys to occupied rooms.
2. They can't manage the check in process
3. customer service is lacking
4. Rooms are small
If you need a hotel in that area, do yourself a favor and stay at the Marrriot that is right beside it.
