The staff was amazing and took us on their adventures with us. They were always helpful in planning the next leg of our trip, transportation or and daily activities we wished to do. I even got free surf lessons from one. Morning yoga is a must after a late night of relaxing and socializing with all the other like minded...

The place is very cool, on a hilltop that only off road vehicles can get to. Then you get a well built hut and hear monkeys all night. Which does not bother (makes you feel one with nature.) If you surf like me there is a great break down the hill at maderas beach. Cool locals, cheap beers. All in...

Maderas Village is for all those souls who enjoy moments of solitude as much as the ones in community where you get to connect with people sharing your same vision. This eco hotel screams LIFE and creativity more than any other hotel I’ve visited so far. It is a place where guests can forget about work, stress, or any issues...

I stayed 10 days and had a great time. Nature trail that takes you right to the beach of Playa Maderas where you can walk to 3 different beaches. We went into town and chartered boats with Nica Surf exploring up and down the Coast including some spots that you will never forget. Incredible people, the best of times and...

I wrote a review about one year ago next month. My general sentiments haven't changed. Just go. I always overpack. Trust me when I say all you need is a pair of sneakers/sandals, a swimsuit and a shirt. It's exactly what you need and it's gotten even better over the last year. They have about double the staff now so...

We had such a beautiful time at Maderas. The ocean, sun and breeze are all incredible. Communal meals, boat trips, hikes and morning yoga gave us the opportunity to leave the city behind and simply reconnect. Staff and guests are all very cool. Maderas Village is extremely special.

My fiance and I recently got engaged in Maderas. For starters the staff was helpful, caring, accommodating, and familial. The environment was relaxing with the perfect blend of social life and privacy. The family dinners were a wonderful way to meet other travelers, chat about local attractions, and generally bask in the unique community they've built. They offer various trips...

I went to Maderas because my friend chose it. It seemed a little too "hippie" for me, but I thought it would be an interesting and relaxing experience. I ended up loving it. You can engage as much or as little as you would like with the people that work there and other guests. There is no pressure to socialize...

This is my 2nd time back to Maderas Village, and I love it! I was really surprised to see the recent negative reviews seeing as most of the things said were the exact opposite of my experiences. It is a family style hotel/hostel where you have a family dinner every night together (along with a ton of other activities). its...

I stayed here with my girlfriend back in November in their penthouse suite and to say it was beautiful is an understatement! The location and staff truly make this a very unique hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone :)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located at Maderas Beach, about 20 minutes outside of San Juan del Sur. We offer a three daily meals, either a la carte or as part of a pre-fixe menu. We are like a boutique hotel, but less pretentious. We love people who want a place to surf, read, debate, and do yoga daily; who want to lose themselves in a place, and find themselves in the people. We offer tailored packages for short-term guests and very reasonably priced rates for people planning to stay longer than 3 weeks. We are not in Lonely Planet or other guidebooks; we like having to be found. ... more   less
