I stayed at the Antrobus Hotel during a short visit to the Amesbury area 23rd - 25th November. The Hotel is an old and historic building, as are many in Amesbury, and as such it does not have the modern internal appearance that many might want to see. The Hotel however has a homely feel with nice gardens and spacious... More

Hotel set up good but no lift, also no free parking as stated when we booked - one of the reasons we booked this hotel over another was for that reason as we had a lot of luggage in the car but when we arrived we discovered parking was limited & we had to pay £5 for public parking overnight.... I have stayed here on a few occasions as its ideally situated for my travels with my business, i can only say the hotel is like a home from home. All are made to feel very welcome and the staff are just amazing with nothing being too much trouble. The hotel is great for unwinding in the hotels bar with... More

I had booked the hotel based on the price and on site parking. £61 for single occupancy, although on arrival was charged £69 for the room and the manager wouldn't honour the price I'd booked it online for. Secondly, on site parking.. False! There is parking on the roadside until 8am or in a public car park across the road.... More

I unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of staying here as the hotel was full. However, as we had the unfortunate experience of arriving at another establishment that we had prebooked but was suddenly closed that day due to safety reasons, we went looking for somewhere else to stay. When we came to this hotel to see whether they had any... More

We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. We were staying at the hotel for a function. Got to our room, which was clean. Only a couple of hangers in the wardrobe. There was no hot water, so a cold shower it was. The toilet for the function was the a single toilet on the first floor, no... More

Sorry to hear that your stay was less than satisfactory. I am not sure who you spoke to but you have clearly been advised wrongly RE the hotels facilities. We have 5 toilets on the ground floor of the hotel (2 ladies stalls, a gents stall, 3 gents urinals and a separate disabled W/C). All of these facilities were open... More

We arrived and were checked in by a lovely girl who said she was not actually on duty. Dinner in the Thai restaurant was plentiful and very good. Our room (11) was basic but very clean. However mattress was awful with lumpy springs and the duvet was very solid. Duvet cover had a small tear in it. Bathroom has a... More

Hi Smidge, Many thanks for your review - we really value your feedback. Our linen is cleaned by an external company but the tear should have been noticed by our housekeepers, so please accept my apologies that this was missed. I will take your feedback back to the team and we'll definitely go through with a view to improving our... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built on the site of The Chopping Knife Inn and formerly a vicarage, school for young gentleman and a temperance inn; The Antrobus Arms Hotel is an original listed 17th Century Coaching Inn set in the ancient town of Amesbury a stones throw away from Stonehenge and nearby Salisbury. We have 20 individually styled en-suite rooms, one of which is our Beatles Suite where the fab 4 (The Beatles) stayed while they were filming ‘Help’ on Salisbury Plain. The hotel has also been host to television programmes and films, including being a location for the filming of Agatha Christies ‘Miss Marple’. The hotel is perfectly placed to access a wide variety of attractions – both local and afar. With local bus and rail links running seven days a week, Amesbury is the perfect place to act as a base to explore southern England. Details of the attractions below and others can be obtained from reception. If you’re looking to visit both Salisbury and Stonehenge then we recommend The Stonehenge Tour, which offers a flexible approach to seeing the local area. ... more   less
