Terrible place! AVOID like the plague! Shower hanging off by one screw. Sock under the bed that isn't mine. Wifi doesn't reach the rooms. Restaurant wasn't open. Bar staff too busy smoking. Just AVOID

We booked and paid for a "Deluxe" double room for our anniversary, expecting one of the lovely rooms pictured on the website, but, there was nothing deluxe about our room, looked nothing like the rooms pictured, the room was very dated, was in desperate need of a paint & refurbish, had a bog standard shower over bath (that needed resealing),...

Hi Laura, I am very sorry to hear that your room was mis-allocated by our booking system. It is very frustrating however when guests choose to not inform staff at the time of their stay and subsequently leave a negative review on TripAdvisor. We will always try our best to resolve any problems and pride ourselves on being receptive to...

After a long day at work I was welcomed by the very helpful and friendly staff. The manager upgraded me free of charge to a beautifully presented suite with a ensuite bathroom which boasted a free standing roll top bath. I had lovely views over the garden. The garden is a work in progress at the moment but will look...

Although the staff are nice a lot of the rooms are tired and I'm sure the hotel was nice once. Literarily once, probably for 24 hours back in the late 60's. My room was grotty. However it did have a PlayStation 2 in it. I presume they'd run out of Commadore 64s. The biggest issue I had was with the...

We decided to try The Antrobus for a Sunday Lunch, as they been advertising it a lot. supposed to be from 12 until 4pm. When we arrived at 12.45 we were told that they would not be serving lunch until 1.30 , as the were expecting a coach load of people. Surely knowing they were coming, they could have made...

Hi Peter, Thank you for your review. I am disappointed that you felt the need to leave us a 2* review for our Sunday lunch when you haven't yet tried the food. All of our marketing material recommends pre-booking and we never make any guarantees that we will have availability unless pre-booked - we have become a popular place to...

Well; the staff were very accommodating once you could get them. The hotel needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to an acceptable standard. However, the food in the restaurant was ok but not exceptional . The beer in the bar was expensive and the rooms were not up to standard. The carpets don't fit...

We booked for Sunday lunch the restaurant has just been refurbished and is normally the Thai during the rest of the week. We all had a starter big mistake as we had not realised the size of the portions to come! The food arrived piping hot served with fresh roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and scrummy gravy, followed by fresh vegetables....

Booked a table in the restaurant here for Sunday roast lunch for two (just reopened after a refurbishment). Subsequently added a third person. Arrived and offered a choice of tables. We received good attentive service from the waitresses throughout the meal. Between the three of us we had beef, lamb, and chicken respectively, preceded by a starter each of deep...

I was asked to help out in running a first Every Ghost Hunting Event at the hotel for the Manager . I have organised many such things and the Management and staff, bent over backwards to provide a a first class service to the Guests, many who were staying the night. We had a 3 course sit down meal, which...

We held an event here in January and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. There were quite a few logistics for the evening that needed organising and the staff were great at returning my messages and emails and always on the end of the phone. I even popped in a few times before the big night and they were more...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built on the site of The Chopping Knife Inn and formerly a vicarage, school for young gentleman and a temperance inn; The Antrobus Arms Hotel is an original listed 17th Century Coaching Inn set in the ancient town of Amesbury a stones throw away from Stonehenge and nearby Salisbury. We have 20 individually styled en-suite rooms, one of which is our Beatles Suite where the fab 4 (The Beatles) stayed while they were filming ‘Help’ on Salisbury Plain. The hotel has also been host to television programmes and films, including being a location for the filming of Agatha Christies ‘Miss Marple’. The hotel is perfectly placed to access a wide variety of attractions – both local and afar. With local bus and rail links running seven days a week, Amesbury is the perfect place to act as a base to explore southern England. Details of the attractions below and others can be obtained from reception. If you’re looking to visit both Salisbury and Stonehenge then we recommend The Stonehenge Tour, which offers a flexible approach to seeing the local area. ... more   less
