We had a 2 night stay for my birthday and had the most amazing time. The hotel is a mix of the old building but refurbished to a modern standard, lots of great attention to details. The staff were very friendly and also helpful and polite. We had a 3 course meal in the restaurant with a bottle of fizz and cocktails afterwards with the bill being £124 which for the high standard of food I thought was very reasonable. Every item on each course was perfect. We cannot wait to go and stay again, we'll done all involved.

We stayed for one night as a family of 4 - we had the family suite which was fantastic - clean, spacious, beautifully decorated with tv, mini fridge, tea/coffee, safe. There was a large double bed with a WC & then a small hallway with a room with two singles & the en-suite which had large rain head shower. Breakfast was delicious - vegetarians & children catered for. Late checkout of 11am. No parking but public car park was a short walk away £4.50 for 24 hours not bad! Lovely “snug room” to chill out in & a courtyard bar for few drinks. Lovely staff… we will be back as everyone enjoyed their stay!

The hotel is great. Everything was clean, the rooms and furnishings were new, good quality, and tasteful. Bathroom likewise, with a really good shower. The staff were lovely, helpful, friendly. Everything you could want. The food was the best I’ve had for a long time: fresh contemporary style, not heavy or greasy, and good-sized portions.

We booked a meal at The Peppermill for a treat before Christmas and were offered the chance to book a room with breakfast. We live quite near by but it was lovely not to worry about who was driving. We had a great meal, the scallops were amazing, lovely steak too. The room was quite large and very quiet even though it was at the front of the hotel (room 8 - 2 sets of steep stairs). The bed was so comfy and we got a great nights sleep. Delicious breakfast, cooked to order finished off a relaxing stay. Would definitely recommend and we’ll be back!

Philip and his team have always given a tremendous welcome. The rooms are interesting, very comfortable, immaculately decorated and - unusually - have air-conditioning. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. A variety of interesting choices, beautifully presented and tasting amazing. All of the staff are excellent. They really know their job, and do it brilliantly. I’ve stayed there multiple times over the past 2-3 months, sometimes with my partner or colleagues, and sometimes on my own. In each case, I have always had an excellent, and relaxing time. Paul
