Only been once before a year ago when we had a pleasant meal, so we went back today. What's happened? This was one if the worst meals we have ever had. I had the sole. It was the smallest sole I've ever seen and was on a bed if spinach which stank if Amonia. Inedible. The fish lie was made...

Popped in for lunch. Been a few times over the years, not as good as it used to be. Food was quite nice, but it arrived a little too quickly if that makes sense. If they can cook a burger properly from scratch that fast then I would be surprised. Also felt a little untidy in there, I get the...

Dear Andy, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and I am disappointed that you felt that the place looked untidy. All of our food is cooked fresh and is probed to ensure that it is cooked to the correct temperature. I hope that you will come back and visit us soon.

Had lunch here on a bank holiday. Thought by the slow service of the 2 staff that they must be very busy, but there were hardly any other diners as far as we could see. The 'pie of the day' had a 15 minute wait, as it had to be cooked to order.........WHY? it was a chicken pie with pastry...

My brothers drove from Cornwall, I from Portsmouth to meet and exchange presents. The Inn is well situated in a quiet village with reasonable parking across the street. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good pub grub. My brothers particularly liked the faggots. Prices reasonable for upmarket pub. Beer was good.

Just had a family celebration here. Food and service were both great. Sharing board - fish one and meat one - we're the best we'd had, and the lamb was pink, cooked to perfection, pie was proper pie, lovely hake and delicious guinea fowl. Thankyou.

Really nice traditional pub. Very quirky with great staff. Menu traditional British fare very fresh ingredients and very well cooked. Had chicken and leak pie and beef and ale pie. Both excellent. Sat enjoying my meal with the lovely smell of an open fire wafting through the air. Perfect for a cold winters evening. Could have stayed all night. Wish...

The food was over priced and not at all good . Soggy fish and over cooked chips along with a glass of beer with so much sediment in the bottom it would make you very unwell . NO check back to see if all was ok , I had to seek assistance . The over all cost was extortionate for...

We stopped on our way to visit relatives just wanting a light snack for lunch. Our mistake was in going for the Ham and Pea soup.Hoping for a hot bowl of soup what we actually got was a lukewarm bowl of very thick soup. Added to that the lady on the table alongside us made it very obvious that she...

I visited tonight on my own for a meal while staying overnight nearby. I chose it because we used to eat here all the time when my husband and I lived locally. I was told there were no tables available in the main restaurant although I could see there were some tables not being used, but I was told I...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lamb would have been trading as a public house as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a posting inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country. To this day the building retains plenty of its original character and features including inglenook fireplaces, flag stone floors and heavy wooden beams. We have 18 beautiful boutique-style bedrooms as well as a traditional pub, dining room as well as a private dining or meeting room providing the perfect place for locals and visitors to enjoy all of the comforts and amenities expected from a larger hotel. With attractions such as The Lamb is a perfect base to explore the area, including attractions such as Old Wardour Castle, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and the glorious Wiltshire Country Side Whatever the occasion we're here to make your visit or stay one to remember! ... more   less
