We found the owners very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room in the barn conversion for two nights. We loved the signs on the wall near our door especially no rif raf. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom large and even had a television. The shower in the bath was wonderful with really hot water and was very powerful. The only slight drawback was the need to run the tap in the bathroom sink for some time to get hot water. We thought a heated towel rail would be good as our towels got a bit wet while we were there. The breakfast was in the main house and was very well provided with covid in mind. There was a good breakfast available with cereals and yoghurt, orange juice, tea or coffee. We both had the vegetarian breakfast the first morning, The mushrooms were a bit salty and I did not like the vegetarian sausages but that was not the hotels fault. I had just the egg on toast the second morning which was very nice. We found the service at breakfast on both mornings very good and friendly. If we are ever in the area we would be delighted to return if we would be welcome.

We visited the Conigre Hotel, having stayed there many years ago, in the what was David Copperfield room, this time in room 1, in the main building. It is a characterful Hotel and a listed building. The room we had was at the front facing the main road, which is the "through traffic route". Not suitable for a tall person to access the bathroom, as restricted height headroom. The couple who have bought it and renovating the property, are very pleasant and make you feel very welcome. I will stop again, when we next visit our friends in Melksham.

Nice quaint property in village setting. The room was excellent, very clean and with top class amenities. All necessary Covid precautions were taken care of. We went there as a family, and thoroughly relished our short stay & experience. Breakfast was good too. Cannot find anything to complain about, would recommend for sure. And possibly re-visit someday!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. We were given the necessary Covid Safe Rules (which were strictly adhered to) & upon finding out we had brought our bikes, were given a space under cover for them. We had our own parking space adjacent to our room in the converted stable block. A lovely surprise awaited us on arrival (you will have to stay for a week too, to find out what that was) & our room was spotlessly clean, with everything we could need. When we went over to the main house for breakfast Andy gave us tips of places to go & how to get there. This is an ideal base for exploring surrounding areas either walking or cycling. It is within easy walking distance to main centre of Melksham with a variety of places to eat. We would recommend the newly opened Casa la cucina italiana. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Conigre and (in these uncertain times) it was good to get away and relax.
