My wife and I called into this hotel just on a casual basis prior to visiting the local Floral Pavilion theatre. We did not use the hotel itself, just the restaurant, which was spotless. Perhaps because it was midweek the restaurant was not busy so service was not a problem. The menu offered a reasonably good choice and was not...

Friendly staff, well presented food, generous portions too! Really good value for money. Good choice of food, well priced, soft drinks were full of cordial, not waterey like lots of bars. Had the carvery in the past, but cheese & ham omlettes chosen this time, well filled!

Went with group of friends for meal, couldn't order my original choice as they only had 2 portions left, we were one of the first customers that evening. Turns out, other than 2 other people we were the only ones in the restaurant that evening. Ordered rib beef that came with colcannon mash and green beans. It was ordinary mash...

Would give this 3.5/4 stars. Nice clean and spacious room overlooking the promenade, recently refurbished and some of the old furniture that's been repainted should really just be replaced. Same as repainted corridors clean & tidy but could do with actually modernising i.e. Wood chip painted, but it did still look ok. We liked the room, just few tweaks needed...

We stopped here for a family dinner. Our room was very clean and perfectly adequate, great view to the front over the Mersey estuary. Bathroom was small but shower worked very well (personally I would sooner have a good shower in a small bathroom than a rubbish one in a big one!) Great meal upstairs in the function room staff...

We have only ever been on a Sunday for lunch and always praised it as the best Sunday lunch around. We went mid week and although the carvery wasnt serve yourself you could still get a roast but plated in the kitchen. I had the lamb and it was awful. So fatty that I had to leave most of it....

A carvery, cannot complain, but the staff were run off their feet so service was compromised. Dessert and coffees asked for were a long time arriving so we decided to leave. Even paying the bill was difficult. We all could have walked out and no one would know. Message to the owners , give your staff some help. I suspect...
