Nestled peacefully on the picturesque banks of the River Teme, set in the shadows of the Malvern Hills, The Talbot at Knightwick is a traditional coaching inn which has been an institution of the local community since the 15th century. Our unique pub is steeped in history, which has been respectfully preserved to maintain the integrity of the grade II listed structure. Warm and rustic finishes provide a homely, boutique look and feel throughout the restaurant, bar, function rooms and hotel. Independently owned, the Clift family have been managing the Talbot for over thirty years and are supported by a dedicated and talented team who help make The Talbot unique. Over many years we have developed our own style; we are firmly rooted in the traditions and seasonal produce from the Teme Valley region and strongly believe that what we cannot produce ourselves should come from a known local source. We make and grow nearly everything that goes into our pub food, from the bread to the vegetables and even the beer itself! That’s right we have our own on-site bakery, kitchen garden and a produce our own beer at The Teme Valley Brewery! The Talbot is the perfect UK staycation destination! Our 10 en-suite boutique bedrooms offer a warm, homely retreat if you’re looking to escape to the country and our enviable location makes us a great base to explore the local areas and attractions across the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire counties. You could even nip across the border for a day trip into Wales! We are easily reached by road and rail, and we are only an hour’s drive from Birmingham International Airport. The ethos here at The Talbot is simple. We’re all about being authentic and excellent in everything we do; from the food & drink, our hospitable welcome and the home-from-home space we’ve created. So whether you’re joining us for a drink at the bar, an evening meal or staying the night, we aim to go above and beyond every time during your visit. We have been awarded The Good Pub Guide award for Country Dining Pub, Worcestershire 2018, for which we are extremely proud.

We stopped here on a Friday lunchtime in May 2021 so just after the reopening after COVID. We booked in advance and probably needed to as although it wasn’t busy there were only a few tables being used. We were one of only 4 tables actually occupied inside.

The website seemed to suggest we would only be able to get soup and sandwiches but we were pleased to find a range of classic pub fayre and a specials board. There were 2 specials on the day we visited: a homemade lasagne and a homemade fish pie. 3 of us had the lasagne (served with salad and chips) and 1 of us had the fish pie (served with veg). Both were very delicious.

We ordered the beer from the attached brewery but were slightly disappointed that only 2 of the beers (“This” and “That”) were available to order with our food. Other bottled beer (along with bread from the attached bakery) were available to buy to take away.

A very pleasant visit on a quiet Friday.

We enjoyed our stay, room comfy once we got up the rickety old staircase. But the so called “award winning breakfast” was disappointing. We sent the porridge back as it was inedible and very salty, and who gives you half a mushroom as part of your full English? Did they run out very strange. The only cereal available was bran flakes and muesli. I wouldn’t call it award winning.

Stayed here for one night to catch up with family. Had been recommended by said family member. The property is a 15th century coaching in that has been up dated and is very idiosyncratic.
The room was lovely and bright, but it wasn't easy to find someone to check in with, there isn't an obvious check in desk.
The room was clean and fairly well appointed, needs another chair. Loo roll had run out and hadn't been replaced.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing. No jam or marmalade was offered, even though it is well advertised as being local. Not sure about potatoes for breakfast, but the bacon and sausage was good. Bread was good too.
Again difficult to find the right place to check out.

Stayed for two nights midweek. The staff on the whole were lovely but there was a older lady who was incredibly rude and difficult. I asked about their shop that was advertised on an info sheet in the bedroom only to be told it only existed during covid. No worries. I told her I was only asking because of the sheet to which she sternly stated ‘we’re obviously very lax at updating things’.
We had let them know we were going to be back late one night as we were there to attend a wedding and we’re told the door would be left on the latch for us. So imagine our excitement when we returned at midnight to find the door locked! Luckily the people we returned with had a spare key on their room key that happened to unlock the door. Not impressed!
As for the rooms, If you like character like VERY uneven floors that creak so loud I’m sure the whole place woke up, almost transparent curtains and the worlds thinnest pillows - you’ll love it! There is a very steep narrow staircase up to the rooms which won’t be suitable for everyone. Big room though, lots of space. And we were pretty sure we’d never lose our key, it had a thick 15cm piece of metal attached as a key chain!
Good size car park though. :-)
It’s expensive for all its faults.

We are members of a local Car Club and over 30 of us met for a breakfast meet at the Talbot. The team were very accommodating and took orders when we arrived without the need for pre-ordering. The food and service was very good as was the setting. We will definitely be returning.

Arriving Sunday after driving 200 miles in terrible weather I was made very welcome, warmed by the fire and offered a much needed glass of wine and the menu. The Salmon was to die for as was the home made pate. The rain co tinged and early Monday I was politely woken to move my car as the river banks had flooded. All staff reassured me that they would do everything they could to get me back safe and off I went for the day. I was told where I could park safely and I paddled back to the Talbot. Like a complete plum I had forgotten it was my birthday but after meeting a lovey local who was celebrating his, bubbles were shared with the fabulous Landlady Annie! I could t have been made more welcome.
Again I ate an amazing sirloin followed by sticky toffee pudding with no regrets in my waistline! Dont even get me started in the breakfasts but do try Annie’s infamous bacon butty!
The rooms were warm, comfortable and full of character- all staff were so friendly as were the locals. I can’t wait to return! Hopefully in summer when there’s less water! Highly recommend!

Lovely friendly staff and a beautiful setting. A beautiful old English pub bursting with character.
A friend and I had breakfast here this morning. Sad to say it was really disappointing. A full English was £10, an extra egg a further £1 - a spoon of beans, half (yes half!) a mushroom, half a piece of bread, one sausage, a few rashers of bacon, and lord only knows what the black pudding was cooked in, but it tasted disgusting, like old foul oil (my friend physically spat it out and I heaved) If you had placed both plates together, it would have made one standard breakfast. I usually use another local pub for breakfast and there is simply no comparison, on either quality or value.
I enjoy food and love quality local sourced fare but this was well below par and left me feeling hungry and ripped off. Such a shame as I understand its an independently owned establishment, which I would love to support and patronise, but based on my experience, I won't.

We had a great stay at the Talbot which we used for our bike trip. The location was great, although not if you want busy city nightlife as it is in a quiet area. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view over the fields/river.

The beer is fantastic which is brewed on site (How's that for beer miles) and the food, which is a small menu, was good and freshly cooked.

What also made the stay fantastic was the staff who did everything they could to make our time great, this is something you should expect from places you stay at, but it doesn't always happen.

If we are back in the area we'll definitely stay there again.

What a wonderful Friday lunch at The Talbot. Beautiful setting, great food & service.
This historic pub & hotel offers a good range of food & caters for food allergies & intolerance. My mother (gluten free) & I (dairy free) had baked cod & prawns with ratatouille & fresh vegetables, I highly recommend this dish, it was very tasty, wonderfully cooked & presented & it was hot! For afters I had a dairy free Eton Mess, which was made especially- thank you, it too was lovely.
We had fantastic service from Abby, who was very polite, attentive but not overbearing & understood our dietary needs.
All in all a fantastic experience & I highly recommend The Talbot at Knightwick.

Stayed here for a wedding and the staff were difficult to say the least. I'm very relaxed when it comes to service but this was beyond patience. A lady took our order (7 of us) and then the gentleman came back and asked if only 4 of us were eating. They then still missed a meal. Breakfast on the 2nd day was half the size of the first day and no black pudding. Not sure what happened there and the staff were quite rude generally. We were told there was no curfew on what time to get in (given we had all 10 rooms). When I arrived back before the rest of my party I got an earful about being late.
The rooms were fine but the showers were hit and miss. Mine was freezing and didn't get warm no matter what I did. They also tried to charge me for breakfast twice. They also messed up the room allocations multiple times and didn't make for a pleasant experience. I was not too happy with the price I paid.
