Booked through 'Holiday Extras' although why this company would think anyone would want to start or end their holiday here is a mystery. Stairwell filled with the stench of weed. Room dated and battered with wallpaper peeling off the ceiling. The 'view' from the window was the rooftop with a noisy air conditioning vent. On one of the hottest days of the year we would have had to have the window open and would not have been able to sleep with the noise from the vent. Directly below the window was a large pile of discarded fag ends. Decided to cut our losses, checked out and booked another hotel. Come on, Britannia, either stump up for a total refurbishment or close this place down.

My post is long but worth reading After a long and tiring lockdown we wanted to spend some quality time on bank holiday weekend. UNFORTUNATELY I booked this hotel for 2 nights. Peak District is a beautiful place, we went for hike and came back to the hotel only to find out that they don't even give you a water bottle, there was kettle but no tea or coffee until I asked for it. The walls are too thin you can hear the person snoring in the other room. On our first night the room right below ours were playing loud music, the woman was screaming and laughing and talking at 1.30am she was totally wasted on alcohol. Since there are no phones in the rooms to call Reception I had to go down at reception to complaint about her. They did go to that room but that lady didn't listen and at 2:50am she came knocking at my door swearing, of course I did not respond and she came back again after 25minutes. I had terrible two nights I couldn't sleep at all and they refused to give my money back or compensate. Other than that the beds and mattresses are too bad and old you can feel the springs and changing sides is a horrible experience on those beds. We both couldn't sleep both nights. Shower knob was broken, curtain hooks were missing. They offer breakfast for £5.50pp which contains porridge and cereal I mean are you serious????? Really need refurbishment. Terrible terrible stay. I would never ever stay there again even for free. DO NOT STAY THERE IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY PEAK DISTRICT

This three star hotel is dog friendly and has a kind caring staff who were keen to serve us in a very cheerful, friendly manner. The room had been sanitized and a paper seal sticker placed across the door and frame so that clients would know that no one had been in after cleaning. The room was clean and spacious and we slept very well as it was quiet at the rear of the hotel. We were on the ground floor in room 15 which was very convenient for letting the dog out early in the morning and late at night. There is a very large car park with a grassy bit which he sniffed around interestedly.

I’m not normally one to review things but for this place I make an exception. Simply the worst place I’ve ever stayed in. Smelly, seedy, sinister, awful rat pit. Awful lighting. Brown water in sink. Plug hole didn’t work. Stank of cigs. Was like a sauna. Opened window but noise from other rooms and generators made it impossible to nod off. Topped off by rampant sounds of fornication from the next room at 2am. Don’t stay here. Diabolical.

Where to start... First impressions were good, the guy on reception was bang on, gave me my keycard and off I went to the room. From the get go, the room smelt like stale cigarettes, there was highlighter pen on the wall, blood on the lampshade, room was just generally disgusting which leads me to the worse part of the one day stay (was meant to be there till the 22nd) I'd find a park bench more comfortable than the bed, managed to sleep around 2 after tossing and turning, kept getting the feeling that something was nipping me. Woke up around 4 covered in bites. I laughed at how bad it was to a friend on the phone in which he mentioned bed bugs. Peeled back the bedding and saw roughly 4/5 of them scurrying under the mattress. Absolutely disgusting. Rang the manager to query a refund due to the complete shambles to be told there was no manager in that day (although I was told different the night I checked in) Avoid. Genuinely, if you're struggling to find somewhere to stay, I'd recommend a bench before this place.
