Detailed Reviews
My wife & I stayed here for 4 nights in early August and choose a sea view room, which although a little tired, was very clean and comfortable, with a small balcony with superb sea views.
The breakfasts were fantastic, really good quality ingredients, and good portion sizes, we ate in the restaurant on 2 nights and the food was excellent, with wine reasonably priced.
Some of the hotel is in need of updating, but in these difficult times you can understand just how difficult that can be to do.
The staff at this hotel were the shining stars of our stay, everyone we encountered was so helpful and willing to go the extra mile, well done to all concerned!
We had afternoon tea on the Saturday as part of my wife's birthday celebrations and I have to say it was great, again very good quality ingredients, served with a smile and good value for money.
We would return again if we re-visit the area.

Booked the Expanse a few months ago with rooms with a sea view. Just lovely. Room quite spacious and bathroom too. Needs a bit of an upgrade and TLC. Housekeeping need to look up in room12, dust your glass light shades. Breakfast was hit, plentiful and a great variety. Ate in both nights first in restaurant and then in Marine Bar (what a gold mine and staff very friendly) lovely food both times. It was a bit pricey £300 per couple for 2 nights BB.

Thank you for your lovely response about the hotel and Marine Bar - we are glad that you liked them both! We do have differently priced rooms should you return in the future to accommodate all budgets

I’m guessing that the hotel is going through a refurbishment programme as there are good points and bad points in the accommodation. Firstly our room was very pleasant with good quality furnishings and a wonderful large double bed. The decor was tasteful and looked relatively new. Our bathroom was spacious, modern and spotlessly clean with both bath and separate shower cubicle. Breakfast was an excellent full English cooked plate, or kippers if preferred, plus choice of fruits and cereals. Breakfast was taken in the hotel’s function suite which was a smart environment. On the downside the hotel looks dreadful externally (your heart sinks on arrival) and the corridors on our floor were in poor state with large damp patches on the wall. For the price charged I can’t say we would be rushing back. Just a month previous we had stayed at The Grand in Brighton for the same price and there is no comparison.

Picked this hotel because it is on the Sea front on the North Beach at Bridlington. The room was plenty big enough and the Sea view very pleasant. On Arrival the Bathroom light was flickering. and the TV not working. We arrived on Monday afternoon, on Tuesday Morning I took a shower and the shower is over the bath, the bath mat slipped and I fell and banged my leg on the side of the bath, I suffered severe bruising on my leg in two places.
On Tuesday morning I reported all 3 faults to the reception, when we returned to our room only the Bathroom light had been fixed, the T V remained inoperative throughout our stay. On the Wednesday afternoon because my leg was hurting and I. Couldn’t walk we were in our room when the housekeeping came to change the towels, I explained why some towels were wet to stop the bath mat slipping, they saw the extent of my bruises and reported the incident. The Manager came to see me with an accident form asked me to sign and gave me a bottle of wine ( not really appropriate).
Overall the Hotel is in a very good location, the outside area housekeeping needs improving for example an ashtray full of fag ends were on the floor all the time of our visit in an eating area. In general the Hotel is tired and run down and need attention to detail.
We haven’t taken any photos because we don’t go on holiday with complaints in mind

Booked this hotel for my 60 th birthday for a whole weekend in the Burlington Suite.Unfortunately left in less than 24 hours at the cost of over £400 . The room was cold as the main radiator did not work nor did the radiator in the add on conservatory so sat most of the night in my coat! Expressed my concerns to the receptionist and also that there was no remote control for the television she seemed totally apathetic! Could not shower or take a bath as the bathroom window would not close plus there were pigeons roosting close by and the noise was disturbing.we ate in the restaurant and were overcharged.I have sent 2 emails expressing my concerns and both have been read and ignored! I rang the hotel and was placed on hold for 45 minutes and when I got through eventually had the phone put down on me.I am taking further action as this is totally unprofessional and the staff need a customer service course.Worse hotel ever not even worthy of one star

In response to your review above, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed to read the above review which states that 2 emails have not been responded to and that a phone call has been "cut off". This is not the case, and I have not received 1 email and have therefore not been able to respond. In order to investigate what happened during your stay, please can you email me directly on ellie.bennett@expanse.co.uk.

Stayed here with family for the week, we had three rooms. All where clean and tidy, our room was nice and modern the other two were slightly dated. The hotel looks a bit shabby and run down from the front but the inside Is nice at the reception, to the right where the dining room and bar is nice but then you go to the left of the reception and it's set up like a nursing home. We used the Marine Bar next door to eat and drink would definitely reccomend the food. Overall we enjoyed our stay for what it was and breakfast was really good every morning good selection aswell. Only really major downside was that it isn't wheelchair friendly at all and the rooms are not accessible for the disabled. The lift is tiny luckily we have a wheelchair that the legs come off and the handles fold down that was the only way we could get it in the lift anyone else with a normal wheelchair you would have no chance.

We stayed in the classic room with a recently fitted bathroom which was already showing signs of wear and tear. The room was clean and comfortable but still looks dated . There is no air conditioning so the room was unbearably hot , much better can be found locally for the price we paid as this room was not cheap at £118 for a Sunday night. We used the car park around the back which is covered in weeds and debris . Staff are lovely. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. Sadly we won’t be returning.

We recently stayed in one of the apartments, described as styled and furnished to an exceptional standard. A few years ago I would agree, sadly it is living on its past glory.
Cracked tiles, broken furniture, half the light bulbs in the kitchen were out, the fridge does not close properly, etc etc.
Much worse the place was dirty, the kitchen table had sticky food residue, likewise the work surfaces, dirty crockery and cutlery, most was put in the dishwasher before we would use it. We anti bac wiped all the surfaces.
The entrance to the apartments was dirty, it had not been cleaned for many days, loose wall panels that have been like that for several years. The apartment balcony was filthy, the window frames were green and the glazing had clearly not been cleaned for months, no doubt the incompetant management, the owners Daughter and partner, will try to blame Covid. Over a couple of days it became clear they have little interest in their customers comfort. Two out of several examples, we met some family and sat in the sun outside the Marine bar, at 13.35 we ordered some food, at 14.20 a waitress said sorry you cant have your order, Why not? The kitchen closes at 14.00, I replied we ordered it almost 30 minutes prior to that, the curt response there is nothing I can do, okay I said as a resident put the order down as room service, (the main kitchen looks after 24 hr room service) no I cant do that, why not? the bar is seperate from the hotel and you cant order room service here, but were not doing room service at the moment.
One evening we decided to eat in the bar, having read a bar food menu in our apartment, I noticed it was a different menu, I pointed it out to our server who replied, yes I know the ones in the rooms-apartments are out of date, why dont you change them I asked? he shrugged and said why should I its not down to me. Hospitality is clearly something they do not understand. If they are not interested in customer service, why work in the hospitality industry. I try not to leave negative reviews, sadly this time it is well deserved as the management were advised in writing about the long list of failings almost a year ago, anyway its my job.

Travelled from Tyneside by motorcycle & fancied a night in Bridlington.
Contacted hotel direct on their site & booked a single room & also requested a space in the garage for my bike.
Upon entering the reception, I was met by a pleasant member of staff who advised the restrictions &
routes to be taken due to Covid 19.
I advised I had booked my bike in & was charged £10.
The receptionist showed me to the garage area, advised where best to park,& advised route upstairs.
The room was adequate with a side view of the seafront.
The amenities were fine, including flat screen tv, coffee / tea etc.
The pressure of the over bath shower could maybe been a little more powerful but to be honest this was my only minor gripe during my stay.
After showering, I visited the adjoining Marine bar, where, again, social distancing measures were in place. Staff were pleasant & I enjoyed my time there.
Upon returning to my room to retire, I found the bed to be comfortable, as it was warm, I opened the window listening to the waves!
Next morning, I had previously advised my chosen breakfast time of 0830, I was shown to my table & my order was taken & I was served promptly by, again, pleasant, courteous staff.
The food was hot & well presented imo.
Overhearing other guests conversations, a lot were returning guests.
Check out was easy, dropping off my room key & advising the receptionist my room was clear.
I retrieved my bike from the garage & was away.
Shall certainly stay again in the future, took 12 minutes to walk along front to town but hotel is situated at a quieter end of the prom.

This was our second visit to Expanse Hotel and we decided to pay almost double the price we paid last time in order to have a sea view. The room was extremely tired and although the view was good the room did not warrant the amount of money we paid.
Staff are extremely friendly although reception staff are not so and the food in the hotel is great.

Response from Expanse, Owner at Expanse Hotel
Responded Jan 8, 2020
Dear Michelle, I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Sea View Room that you stayed in and that you did not think the rate was not worthy of the beautiful Sea View that you had. We hope that you will return again in the near future and we will be able to offer you a room that you find more suitable. Thank you for your comments.

There is free parking at the hotel as it has a small car park for guests at the rear of the hotel.
If you have a disability badge you can park outside the hotel and opposite the hotel free. However you will need to pay for parking on a parking meter at £6.50 per day for car parking opposite the hotel. Alternative if you park your car on the street at the side of the Expanse this is free. Hope this information helps. The Expanse has a restaurant opens 6pm with options for one, two or three course meal. You can book afternoon tea at the hotel and lunch menu is good espically soup and sandwiches. Tne Marine bar next to the Expanse owned by the Expanse has a food menu but limited times lunch and evening.
Im not sure but the receptionists are very efficient and helpful and Im sure they will know. The direct number is 01262 675347. I hope this helps
they do have a ramp for access to the side of the entrance
Thank you for your query, but I regret to inform you we only accept guide dogs.
I am sorry and completely understand that it would be like leaving a family member behind, I hope you can find somewhere else to accommodate you.
Kind Regards,
The Manager
