Great food loads of ambiance, used by the locals. Food both at lunch time and in the evening good locally sourced, freshly cooked and good value. Fish and chips were amazing. We stayed 3 nights room clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. Our room had a partial sea view. Breakfast cooked to order and plenty of it....

We've just returned from five days in Cornwall, staying in Porthallow. We ate at the Five Pilchards every night on account of the reasonably priced, excellently prepared and delicious food. Huge portions of top quality local ingredients and the chips are better than my own home made ones; I don't say that lightly. The beer and cider is exactly as...

Had a lovely evening with my husband, it was very busy, so fortunate that we had booked. Although it was busy there was a nice atmosphere with a mixture of locals and holiday makers. I had the river Ex muscles in a delicious cider, cream and tarragon. It was a generous portion and I would recommend it. My husband had...

Pre booked our table and was glad that we had! Very busy with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying the hustle, bustle of this small pub right by the beach. The menu was fairly standard pub grub and the food had a real home cooked taste and presentation. Great selection of real ales and also a reasonable selection of non...

We stayed at The Five Pilchards for four nights. Our room was 'stunning'! We overlooked the beach and the views were glorious. David, Lyn and their staff made us feel welcome and the food was excellent and well presented. Now feel relaxed after a short break!

We stayed in an apartment in Porthallow and tried The Five Pilchards during our stay - lovely warm and friendly pub with a great atmosphere! We did book as it gets really busy considering how out of the way it is - they have lovely real ales and a few decent wines too. The fish is freshly caught and so...

Had two good meals here last week. Food was very fresh, service very good and a decent price too. We did book and it seemed like a good move judging by how busy it was. Unsurprisingly, the menu had lots of fish and I can vouch for the Hake and the Cod. They went well with the Tribute pale ale....

Fantastic dinner, proper home-cooked food, all fresh - particularly the seafood. No frills kind of place, but truly superb food. A must-visit if you're in the area. We'll definitely be returning. Be warned though, the lane down into the village is NARROW! You'll end up in a hedge a few times. But so worth it for the food quality.

Staying half a mile away so the pub was lovely and close and the only pub in the area. Our first visit was at a lunch time after a long coastal walk. The pub is very rustic with an old nortical theme. Due to the remote small area the pub isn't open all day. We were lucky to drop by...

Tina & I with brother and sister in law visited on Saturday evening 18th June. We were staying in Coverack and decided to try this pub we found on TripAdvisor. What a find. This is the real cornish pub in a fishing village on the east coast of the Lizard Peninsular. Beer and grub was excellent and prices were reasonable....
