The place is clean, updated and spacious for the 5 of us in 2 double beds and 1 extra cot. Supplied are lots and enough for our one day stay. The receptionistvis so accommodating and fully assisted us during our check in. Place is close to ProvidenceBay, just a walking distance. Overall, it's outstanding.

Due to a last minute cancelation of our accommodations by an unscrupulous motel owner in Mindemoya, Huron Shores saved our trip by coming up with some challenging room adjustments and providing excellent service the duration of our stay. And when i say “OUR”... I’m referring to four big burly bikers and we had a great time. Providence Bay is a beautiful little town with small town hospitality in a big way.. too bad the province of Ontario, DOUG FORD, doesn’t fund the infrastructure of this island gem better.

This motel has won award for its architectural wavy roof design. The rooms are large with 10 foot ceilings. Furnishings are "Ikea" contemporary with microwave and fridge. Smallish bathroom. Parking good. Floor easy to get dirty as it is close to the beach. Food cooked on the premise kitchen yummy and reasonably priced. One down side: bouncy but firm beds. Location is far from shopping but close to highways. Nearby fish and chips is outstanding.

We just finished a three night stay at this motel. It’s typical of older, individually owned motels - feels a bit retro. It’s clean, roomy and very comfortable. Room amenities include a fridge, micro, coffee maker and a kettle for us tea drinkers. Didn’t meet the owners but we had many lovely chats with the housekeeper, who couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Providence Bay is a bit of a drive to some of the Island’s attractions but each drive is beautiful. The beach is spectacular and you need to experience the sunsets. The best kept secret is Huron Island Time, the little shop on the beach. The ice cream is superb but the homemade Jamaican food is amazing!! Note- there are not a lot of restaurants open this time of year, so plan accordingly.

Finding a stay in Manitoulin Island during this long labour weekend (Sep 2021) was impossible. I was hesitant to book this motel at first due to its limited reviews. We reached the motel at around 8-9PM when the restaurant was almost closing. We were welcomed by Ms. Vera, a beautiful & extremely polite lady at the check-in/restaurant counter. She did make sure that our stay was so perfect ! (Thank you, Ms. Vera!). This motel beat my expectations. Rooms were large and clean. Few stuffs in the room were very old (like the couch, coffee maker) , but I was really impressed to find out that they had everything that we wanted during our stay. Motel is very very close to the beach.. Loved that family time walking to the beach during evening and also doing our own BBQ right behind the motel. We just got back home and my 3 year boy is still asking me - "When are we going to sleep in the motel again?".

This was our third summer visiting Manitoulin Island. We’d driven by Huron Sands many times on the way to the gorgeous Providence Bay public beach which is just down the street, but never stayed there until now. We originally rented a cottage on a resort on Lake Kagawong for a week, but needed to stay an extra night and the owner of Perivale Gallery (in Spring Bay) recommended Huron Sands so I made the reservation. Just before our trip, I decided to stay one further night to allow for a more leisurely drive home to Toronto, and they were able to accommodate the extra night, but because they were booked solid, they unfortunately couldn’t keep us in the same room for both nights. However, this allowed us to try out two different types of rooms and when our last day turned out very rainy and I emailed them to ask if there was any way they could let us check into our second room early, so my little son and I didn’t have to aimlessly drive around the island for several hours in the rain, they were kind enough to let us in early to unpack and relax. The owners are two lovely women who were unfailingly friendly and helpful. They also cook incredibly delicious food! We tried their pizza, lasagna, wonderful breakfasts (it sounds weird to rave about scrambled eggs but they were amazing!) and would happily go back just for the food! However, we loved the accommodations as well! We first stayed in a room with two double beds, a couch, and a little set up with a bar fridge, microwave, plug-in kettle and coffee maker. The next night, we were in a room with a double bed, a pull out couch, and more of a full kitchenette with cupboards full of cutlery, plates, bowls, etc, and again, a bar fridge, plug-in kettle, microwave and coffee maker. Both times, we asked for a cot for my 7 year old son and he must have thought it was very comfortable because he fell asleep quickly and easily every night we were there. The pull out couch was less comfortable, I must admit, but the rooms were so spacious and airy (the ceilings are lofty and high!) that we could pull out the couch and add a cot and we still had tons of space to walk around. Best of all, the rooms were comfortable and sparkling clean! Showers and bathrooms were white with not a speck of mould or cracked grouting. Sheets, towels, pillows, and blankets were also white and clean. Even the laminate wood floors were lovely and clean. The motel itself is one of those old-school retro single floor sprawling type buildings with rooms in a row with front doors facing the parking lot so you can drive right up to your door and park and unload easily. These rooms are great for older people as well as there are no stairs anywhere to negotiate. Due to the pandemic, they’re only serving takeout from their in-house restaurant (we want to try their many traditional Russian dishes next time!) through a little takeout window that you also use for checking in and out. While I was there, I was delighted to notice an electric car charging from the charging station right under their little Canada Post mailbox! The place has free wifi and cable tv, an in-house restaurant that serves delicious food, friendly helpful and accommodating owners, impeccably clean and well appointed rooms, AND it’s literally 2mins down the road from the softest sandy beach on the island with a children’s playground and a little ice cream and hamburger counter. What more could you ask for? I would definitely go back.

We stayed at the Huron Sands on a motorcycle trip through the island. While we don't have particularly high standards on a trip like that, the Huron Sands over delivered! The staff were really friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the proximity to the lake can't be beat. It was a great experience and I'd absolutely stay there again when on the island.
