Such a relaxing stay, the view over the entire valley and out to the ocean is lovely. Well maintained gardens with walks to a koi pond and a giant swing. The weather was still crisp, so we were pleased the pool is indoor and heated. Short 10 min drive into Berry, the hosts are very welcoming (along with their beautiful dogs!). I personally didn't love the bright colours of the rooms, but they were spotless and spacious and to be honest I was more focussed on the view!

Beautiful location up high overlooking Berry & beyond. We were welcomed by the very friendly owner & shown straight to our room - 1 of only 5 at the retreat. Great rooms with a lovely deck to take in the spectacular view, with a bath tub out there also to enjoy the start night sky. The rooms are spacious, comfortable & clean with a kitchenette (mwave, kettle, toaster, sink, plates, glasses, cutlery) no restaurant on site so was nice to be able to prepare our own breakfast. The gardens around the retreat are well established & maintained & beautiful to walk around, there’s a dam with Koi to feed, some farm animals to pat, a big swing to have fun on & an amazing indoor pool & spa to relax in which was the perfect temperature. This peaceful retreat immediately relaxed us & was exactly what we needed. Only a short drive back into Berry for some shopping & lunch/dinner & a great bushwalk to Drawing Room Rocks only a short drive away. Would definately recommend a child free stay here

Visited Mt Hay retreat as a COVID escape and was overwhelmed with the attention to detail that was shown to our comfort. Received a warm welcome and was given a great over view of the property and then was shown to our amazing villa. Views to die for and again attention to detail in the small but important things. Nespresso coffee machine and mini kitchenette, metal water bottles in the room which you could take home as a gift, quality of bed linen and towels (you would be surprised how many accommodations skimp on this) to the well maintained facilities including a large heated spa and pool. Only 5 mins drive from Berry central and you will love Diggles the dog.

This is the most beautiful and well thought out accommodation we have ever stayed in.
You truly feel like you are away from the craziness of the roads and the city.
The apartments are lovingly detailed yet perfectly balanced to allow the indoors and outdoors merge.
The view from your accommodation will mesmerise you from sunrise to sunset and beyond.
This will be our go-to recharge place from now on.
We came away feeling mega relaxed and refreshed.

The owners are really lovely and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and they are sensitive to the privacy most will be staying for.

Unlike so many places we have stayed the bed was super comfortable and we had a choice of pillows to suit our needs. Sleep was perfect on each night.

As for eating, there is a microwave, toaster, kettle and basic kitchen supplies.
We found that eating in Berry was inexpensive and worth the effort.
We brought our own breakfast supplies otherwise.

We spent three nights at Mt Hay to celebrate my 50th birthday. Mt Hay is luxurious accomodation just minutes out of Berry. With just 5 suites you really feel like you have the place to yourselves. We stayed in The Big Blue which was spectacular! A very comfortable king bed, huge rainfall shower with great pressure and floor to ceiling windows that frame glorious sunrises. The landscaping is fantastic, beautiful grounds to walk around - feeding the koi, swinging over the escarpment and admiring the view right out to the ocean.
The pool and sauna area is great. You really never want to leave!
Anthony and Louise are very welcoming and there if you need anything.
My only suggestion would be an area with a BBQ and fire pit. We really didn’t want to leave for meals but with very limited (microwave only) cooking facilities you really have to. We had two other couples staying as well and there is really no where to gather for a meal and drinks other than in the apartments where you don’t want to make too much noise to disturb other guests.
Perfect location for a romantic getaway or just an escape with friends away from hectic lives. Highly recommend and look forward to returning!

Anthony and Louise (as well as their two dogs!) were very welcoming and lovely hosts. The accommodation was modern and clean with amazing views of the rolling hills, which you can savor in an outdoor bathtub on your very own private verandah. Berry shops were only 10 minutes drive away. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting great escape :)

Mt Hay lives up to it's name as a peaceful and tranquil location perched on top of a 'mountain' with fantastic views. Anthony and Louise were super friendly and the advice they gave around local watering holes and eating places did not disappoint. Accommodation was good and did not disappoint. Only call out is making sure you bring your own food and/or go nearby to have meals. Not a big issue but we often did not want to drive at night. Overall 5/5. P.S. Great for photography as the event horizon was to picture perfect.

We had a really lovely 3 nights @ Mt Hay - it was such a beautiful location, it's a hidden gem with absolutely stunning views.
The weather was sunny & clear and we could gaze into the distance forever!
The room was big, tidy & well equipped. Anthony & Louise were very friendly & more than happy to help with anything if needed.
My husband loved the outdoor bath, what a treat that was!
The location is just a 5 min drive down the hill into Berry which was very easy.
We would highly recommend staying here, we loved it.

This place has everything you could ever want in a holiday for couples. It is secluded, on a private road with spectacular views and wonderful countryside.
Our unit was spacious, meticulously clean with a very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom was modern (without annoying shower curtains or sliding doors) and quite big with lots of storage.
We loved the indoor heated swimming pool and the spa which were about 10 m from our cabin. Also, having a swing on the giant swing was very enjoyable with incredible valley view.
Finally, the host were really attentive without being obtrusive and who could not love their friendly dogs?
We loved our stay at Mt Hay resort and recommend it highly to anyone who wants to visit Berry and surrounds. Do not miss out!

A very special place that we both loved. Everything about the unit is exceptionally large including the living area, the unique bathroom, the super comfy king bed and the huge balcony/deck offering spectacular views of the South Coast. One of the nearby tourist attractions is the Cambewarra Mountain Lookout that only replicates the views you get when staying here. The indoor pool and spa is a great bonus and shouldn't be missed. The three night mid-week special(on their website) was great value and came with free goodies to eat and imbibe. Louise and Anthony built, own and run this special place and we felt privileged to share this magnificent property for our first short stay here.

Is it far from the beach
Answer from Brian T
Sydney, Australia5 contributions7 helpful votes
Actually quite a few beaches - an easy 10 minutes drive to Seven Mile Beach which runs south from Gerroa. Then there's Werri Beach at Gerringong, another 5 minutes away to the north ...and there's Hyams Bech Jervis Bay which is about a 30-40 minute drive all easy to get to
