Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for two nights in June 2020. (Have stayed a couple of times before.) It is a lovely old building in a beautiful area, looking across at the golf course.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room size is typical for a hotel, and the room was was comfortable and warm. Bathroom was very small, but works OK, and heater lights are a real bonus in the winter. Wi-fi was included, with a good strong signal in our room.
There is plenty of hot water in the shower although delivery can be a little up and down, depending on what others are doing.
Having breakfast included is a plus. Dinner was fixed price - two courses for $65 and three courses for $75. The food was good.
Parking is not undercover, although easy to access and use most of the time. (If you are one of the last back in the evening and the carpark is quite full the manoeuvring space may be a little tight.)
Absolutely worth a try. Recommended.

Links house was a last minute choice and I’m so glad we did. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. The words I would use to describe our stay would be warm, comforting and gentle. And who couldn’t use that after the 2020 we’ve had right? Such a lovely old place, with lovely kind staff Andy just the right touch of modern and historic. You are definitely taken back in time to yesterday year. The small touches made all the difference - fresh milk in the room, fluffy towels and a beautiful lounge with a fireplace. Food was amazing as was the service. Highly recommend for a getaway to relax. And as the hotel is owned and operated by a woman and most of her staff are female - I would recommend even more #womeninbusiness.

My wife and I had a most relaxing two nights stay at Links House, essentially to chill out, play some golf across the road on the golf course and enjoy the wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere of Links which is in a very quiet location. We had an excellent breakfast each morning and a superbly cooked dinner in the evening in the restaurant and had no thought of going anywhere else to eat - we didn't have to! It was when we were sitting in the magnificent lounge having a pre-dinner drink one evening that we started to appreciate the decor and atmosphere of this hotel from yesteryear that has welcomed guests for over 90 years; it's one of those most charming retreats which led us to wonder why we had not come to stay decades earlier! In terms of value for money, Links House gave us very welcoming hospitality from staff, excellent food, a relaxing setting, and a most comfortable bed in an excellently appointed ensuite room. We have every intention of returning to stay. Thank you!

I can’t believe this hotel is rated 4-star. I stayed here a few years ago and wasn’t impressed. This time I was with a group so had no choice. The place has not improved. The rooms are at best no better than roadside motel rooms and the whole place needs some serious upgrading. It is quite shabby and rather unkempt. When I arrived in my room, it seemed odd that all the windows were open although it was a cold day. I soon realised why. When I came back to my room after dinner in Bowral, I noticed a very unpleasant smell. It persisted for the 2 days I stayed here. There was a sign in the bathroom requesting that guests only put toilet paper in the lavatory as the plumbing is as old as the hotel - almost 100 years! Really? For $275 a night, you expect better. On the plus side, the breakfasts were nice although the service was perfunctory. It looked as though they employed school kids without giving them any training. We also ate dinner one night which was excellent so full marks to the kitchen.

We made the mistake of booking a Queen Superior room for three days. We left after one, and despite complaining to management, had to pay for three.
The rooms are musty and outdated. The bathroom in our room was the size of the bathroom on an economy flight.
The worst thing was the noise.
The walls are paper thin, and we could hear every person stomping past as well as every conversation in the adjoining rooms. We could hear with crystal clarity our neighbours using the toilet, and could even smell it.
The place is also a firetrap. The wiring is old and the powerpoints are overloaded with old lamps.
If I have ever stayed in a worse place, I can’t remember it.
Don’t be fooled by the quaint living room. It’s the rooms which are a disgrace.
Also $65 per person for two courses in an average restaurant is pretty steep.
Avoid this place until the owner spends some money bringing it in line with basic safety standards.

We stayed in the “pet friendly” room which was $245 plus a $65 cleaning fee for our small dog to stay with us. The room was actually a small outhouse type building which housed a dirty bedroom and old out of date bathroom. The bar fridge was rusted and dirty and the carpet/curtains were stained and musty. I am writing this review so people travelling with pets are aware what they will be paying for. I was hoping for a romantic night away in the Highlands with my partner and dog, we were severely disappointed to be staying in the equivalent of a great aunt’s outhouse who had a hygiene/cleaning issue.

We have just had a wonderful 3 night stay at Links House Bowral with a small group of friends, from the time we arrived until checking out everything was perfect. The rooms are very comfortable and spotless the place it self has character with a cosy lounge and open fire. As we were a small group we were offered a private dining room which was perfect, our meals were delicious and the staff just lovely, always helpful and smiling.
We would definitely return to Links House, a most enjoyable stay.

The property's website plus many of the Trip Advisor reviews led us to believe this would be a slightly old fashioned, but extremely comfortable place to stay in Bowral. As we paid exactly the same per night as we did for the Hyatt in Canberra the next three nights, we were extremely unhappy with the experience. The bed was comfortable, but the furnishings all need cleaning, renovation and repair. What looks like a cupboard door leads into the bathroom that is the smallest possible. We understand it's an extremely old property, but possibly the solution is to renovate into larger rooms with larger bathrooms, and leave a couple of rooms for a single person. No particular comments about the breakfast - but the service was haphazard. The staff were friendly and willing, but items were brought out in the wrong order and often forgotten. Dinner one night was extremely disappointing.

Proximity to town and their excellent outsourced restaurant Ethos lifts this hotel rating to 4 stars. Think old country motel and you won't be disappointed!
But, think cool autumn evening, it’s 5.40, unable to read in our room because the lights are so dim! Let’s order a pre-dinner drink in front of the fire in the main lounge before the restaurant opens at 6.30 pm. Splendid idea, but the lounge is not open to guests although we can see lots of people inside. More guests arrive, we are all cold and waiting. Finally, someone comes to tell us that they’re having a staff meeting about a meditation group arriving the next day. Around 6.10 the meeting is over. My question is: why not have their meeting earlier or in the conference room?
Good hospitality is people-oriented, it follows proper management practices and trains staff properly. We are paying guests, not your friends, and guests come first or they don’t come back.

The location of the Links House is beautiful being opposite the Golf Course with attractive trees. The bedrooms are at the rear down long ground floor corridors which are part glazed.
The room (a superior double) was a disappointment it was cold and small. It had a small sofa between the bedroom and the bathroom where we could watch TV and there was a fridge. The bathroom was tiny although the shower was a decent size.
We were staying on a Sunday night which is one of the nights the hotel does not serve dinner,
we had a late lunch out and were looking forward to a cosy drink by the fire in the bar, unfortunately the fire wasn't lit and it was a dull wet day. One person was looking after the bar when needed and the reception phone. There was only one other couple in there reading so we went back to our room rather than sit in a cold bar.
Breakfast was excellent and served at table and we were surprised to see how many people were staying, not sure where they all went for dinner on a Sunday evening.
The staff were good and I would go back if there was a larger room with a larger bed.

Yes Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner.
I don't think they have one but give them a call, they may be able to arrange something. 😊
Yes lovely breakfast. Lovely host too. Don't know about room rates. Enjoy.
