Peppers Craigieburn Bowral offers a charming atmosphere with its lush gardens and cozy fireplaces, nestled in a tranquil location that's close to scenic attractions. However, the hotel's rooms and some amenities are often criticized for appearing dated and not providing the luxury expected for the price.
While the service can be friendly and efficient, experiences with staff quality are inconsistent. Cleanliness is another area where opinions vary, as some guests commend the tidiness while others point out maintenance issues.

Great location, beautiful well manicured grounds over all a well relaxing stay. The room was only serviced every two days and two paper cups provided in the room for coffee or tea one use only. Several visits to reception were made for towels, toilet paper and paper cups. for the cost of the room my expectation were not meet, below standard.

Dear fsaliba Thank you for your review following your stay with us. Due to current COVID regulations and procedures we are not servicing guest rooms during their stay in an effort to maintain approriate distancing and minimum contact. I am sorry that this meant you had to ask a number of times for items and I have addressed this with the team members. We do hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Susie

We stayed here for a weekend for the Crowded House concert. While the location is superb for the concert, the quality to $ value is low. We paid $360 a night for an elms balcony room. These are shared balconies not private and the rooms are small. Noise penetrates the rooms due to paper thin walls. The mini fridge is empty bar 2 bottles of water, drink facilities consist of a kettle and some powdered coffee. There is no milk provided and no bottle opener if you bring your own beer or wine. There are no bowls, plates or cutlery if you bring you own snacks. These are basic items you would expect for $360 a night.
Bar service was slow. There was 1 adult and 5 kids serving. I literally waited 5 minutes to be served while staff stood around doing nothing. Then I was given drinks for someone that ordered before me and they we standing right next to me.
We went to Hickory's restaurant where we paid $50 for an eye fillet, $25 for some mushrooms, $15 for some greens. Steak quality was average and over cooked to our request, we asked for no onions, it came with onions, ordered the green vegetables and it came in a plate of milk, had to ask for a steak knife, and the mushroom starter was small for $25. The prices we paid I would expect higher quality.
I doubt we will return.

Overall a nice place to stay but the only hiccup is the set menu for dinner and breakfast, it doesn’t change and is limited. We stayed for 3 days an was forced to eat elsewhere which is a shame as the quality of food is quite good.
The time it took to get food from ordering to table was really slow minimum 30 minutes with only half a dozen tables being occupied.
The bathroom floor tiles needed a good scrub in some areas but overall we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the service as well as presentation of the overall hotel and grounds. Would go again.

It is a giveaway when a business offers packages and deals for example with Luxury escapes, that their business is not firing as strongly as they would like. We stayed for two nights on a package that represented good value where normally I would suggest the standard prices are a little over priced. Obviously this is an historic residence so floors are squeaky, facilities are retrofitted and maintenance is ongoing. The king bed was excellent and extremely comfortable, the shower was great, the gardens are lovely and the setting is mostly quiet. We also had a quiet room as the place was not fully booked. My opinion of the Accor group COVID interpretations are leaning towards cost savings as compared compliance. I will say the staff were lovely and working and trying really hard. No daily housekeeping ,"due to COVID" however we just stayed two nights at Intercontinental Double bay and they had daily housekeeping. Only two staff in the dining room so service was somewhat slow as they worked to provide for everyone.

It was a last minute booking due to COVID because we had to cancel our Canberra trip so we decided to stay there on the way back to Sydney. The main building and garden itself was really impressive so I was excited to walk through the building! When we go to the room was very compact, a bit dark and looked a bit tired, guessed it was a few last room left at this price $269.- which was not cheap I think. Bed was comfortable. The fridge was a bit noisy so we unplugged it and told the concierge the next day. No free bottle water which we think it is pretty standard now. ..We did not use any facilities.

Dear Mark, Thank you for taking te time to review the property following your stay. It would appear that you were one of the last bookings taken over valentines weekend with very restricted abailability eft. Unfortunately due to COVID 19 protocols we have had to remove many non essential items and touch points form the rooms and minibar contents are included in this. Thank you for your feedback and we do look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Susie

After reading such varied reviews on Peppers Craigieburn I was not sure what to expect when we chose it for a quick spur of the moment getaway.
Against my better judgement from two past poor experiences booking with them (facilities not quite as advertised, rooms not as expected despite choosing the upgraded packages, dining credits not applied to final bills...you get the idea) I jumped on a Luxury Escapes deal which had just been advertised as it was a good price and the availability suited. Also, putting into perspective it is a really old property so there will be noise with thin walls, narrow stairwells, small rooms (hence the lounge rooms - see below) and corridors like rabbit warrens, and in the original premises there were probably shared bathrooms so took these factors into perspective with some of the review content.
The good: all staff we encountered were pleasant and keen to help, and despite what some reviewers had mentioned, wasn’t a problem to carry our own bags to our room. Maybe we got lucky but our Elms Balcony Room overlooking the golf course was nicely and appeared recently decorated, with a spacious bathroom (albeit with the worlds smallest vanity), and only drawbacks being no luggage stand or console table which made it difficult to find anywhere to put things other than the small bedsides. That said...we were only there 2 nights and out most of the time. Luxury Escapes benefits honoured without any issue. I don’t know how heavily booked the hotel was, but had no issue with parking. Lovely grounds. Good location with quick drive into town and adjacent to Centennial Vineyards which do a great wine tasting.
The bad: Don’t expect a championship golf course if you want a quick 9 holes. As a fairly new golfer even I found it a bit basic but ideal for people who are purely holiday golfers who just want a fun hit (though currently BYO clubs as currently not hiring due to COVID).
The several beautiful lounges were at capacity from mid afternoon with some people permanently planted themselves there for several hours, so between that and some larger groups made it difficult to get a seat.
The staff from the bar/restaurant seemed so busy, compounded by the request to not approach the bar to buy drinks (table service only). Once we located a seat we waited 20 minutes to have a waitperson acknowledge us, another 10 minutes for a drinks menu which was then the time we were booked to eat at Hickory’s Restaurant.
The ugly. Hickory’s Restaurant.
Don’t. Just don’t.....
Remained optimistic despite mixed reviews. Will review fully under its own listing.
I’d rate as 3.5 but as Trip Advisor allows full rating points, all in all I feel that 3 is a bit mean but 4 a little generous.

Chose the wrong time for the best weekend due to coronavirus effect on the facilities Available for guests. Housekeeping was not available, and therefore we were making our bed and changing towels. The restaurant was serving limited meals, and staff levels were at a minimum. Foxtel had also been cancelled due to the fact that at times guests were non existent. However, we were informed of these conditions prior to travelling and still managed to have a good weekend. Jonathan, our waiter and restaurant member worked above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Reception staff we friendly and efficient, likewise Paul the resort manager. We will go back again when the resort is in full operational mode to get the full treatment.

We stayed for a family members wedding.
Overpriced for the quality of the rooms and service provided, food was frozen and microwaved, no fresh towels or linen.
Paying $20 each for a sparkling wine is a rip off.
Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Entry to grounds good but many large pot holes in the driveways...poor car. Female in reception after she finished her telephone conversation thought she was doing us a favour. Room far too small for money paid albeit it was a corner room. The bathroom was so small "you couldn't swing a cat in it". The door had to be closed when having a shower otherwise the smoke alarm would activate. The room was not vacuumed on day 2 of our stay, nor were the rubbish bins emptied, the bed was very quickly done and we felt as if our towels were re used instead of being changed. Next visit to Bowral we will be staying elsewhere. Restaurant booking confirmed twice and we weren't on booking list. Very much understaffed.

We stayed for two nights on a package that had plenty of inclusions so it was reasonable value for money for us. We stayed in the Elm wing on level 3. Rooms are very small and our bathroom was very dated and virtually no grout left between the tiles. The king bed was great as was the shared balcony however on our second night our noisy neighbours kept us awake by being out on the balcony. The walls are thin between rooms and you can hear conversations and other activities ( noisy neighbours again) from next door.
Whilst we enjoyed our stay and the lovely gardens we will look for somewhere else to stay next time in Bowral.

Best to ask the hotel for this information
Hi,
When we were there in June, breakfast was a continental breakfast (yoghurt, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee or milk) and could only be had in your room.
Other modifications were: Limited dining menu, that could be had in the lounge, dining room or your room. Limited seating in lounge area and dining room. If no seats free you could not stand around waiting for one. Social distancing at reception and encouraged throughout the hotel. Hand sanitiser in high traffic areas. No daily room cleaning during your visit. If you need anything, extra towels etc you contact reception and they will get it for you. Staff wear masks.
Bring your own golf clubs and tennis racquets and balls, as they are not hiring these out.
We thought they had good Covid 19 protocols in place.
Hi
We would be more than happy to look after you and your child. Our Elms Balcony rooms are certainly big enough to Accommodate a Portacot as well.
Please get in touch with us directly and we can ensure that your room is allocated on the Ground floor so no need for stairs.
Kind regards
Susie

Hi Stephen, as most of the respondents had mentioned we don't have a specific area as such however happy to store it in one of our Locked Storeroom's that way it will certainly be safe and sound.
