We stayed at Heggy's Cottage for 2 days earlier this week, and just loved it. It is clean, spacious, and beautifully situated looking on to the valley.
Eva and Peter were also wonderful hosts- Pete even gave us a ride around the farm and showed how everything worked which was really interested. We ordered the lovely honey that they make on site. Their home made marmalade is the best I’ve ever tasted.
The highlight of the trip - we were watching the gorgeous sunset over the valley and my partner proposed to me! It was so very exciting and just the perfect setting. I was quite surprised and overwhelmed. I still am!

The view from Heggy’s Cottage, encourages you to focus on your breath. Because it is breathtaking.
The cottage is small and perfectly formed, cosy and no television, however it does have a small eclectic library and a CD player, although not Bluetooth. It was our anniversary. We sat, and talked, and read. At night we braved the ‘fresh’ Kangaroo Valley air to watch shooting stars and once again stand in awe of the Milky Way stretching out everywhere and beyond.
Breakfast provisions of fresh honey from the cottage bees, eggs from the girls at Buckinghen Palace, fresh baked bread, bush orange marmalade – sets up a day of exploring and relaxing.
The land surrounding the cottage is photogenic, is paintable, and needs words to describe it that I don’t have. Few properties afford the luxury of on-site small spectacular bush walks and waterfalls. Just more than ten minutes from Kangaroo Valley village, and close by bush walking at Drawing Room Rocks walk, which is nothing short of stunning – on top, views to Jervois Bay and beyond.
I travel often, mostly across Australia, it is rare to find such a haven, one so obviously a labour of love for Eva and Peter.
We leave here rested, relaxed, reinvigorated, and re-booked.
