At first glance a very well appointed apartment (No 2). Good size living room with plenty of kitchen appliances, good size bathroom and large bedroom area upstairs. It was listed as sleeping 3 people, but the 3rd bed was a sofa that was not a full sofa bed and not the most comfortable. The main bed provided a shock when the covers were pulled back and a dead cockroach was found in the bed. Several others appeared and were quickly despatched! Can understand live 'creepy crawlies' appearing but not dead ones in the bed. Small flat screen TV that did work for the small amount of time we required it. Small but adequate supplies for a cooked breakfast supplied but stale home cooked bread did not really measure up. Felt the price of $310 for one night for 3 people was too high considering our experience.

Response from Eleanor l, Owner at Cloudsong
Responded Mar 11, 2016
This is an unpleasant surprise. We do have cockroaches here but not inside the chalets. The chalets are new and easy to keep squeaky clean. However you have found a dead cockroach in the sheets and I understand that this was a really nasty experience. I can't work out how this could happen but it would have warranted a phone call even at a late hour and I could have remade the bed with fresh linen. When the booking was made for three people I explained the sleeping arrangements for the third person. The third bed is made up on the sofa downstairs and is the same size as a single bed. This is a convenient arrangement for a short stay for a family or three friends and saves them paying for a two bedroom accommodation. The bread is made on Friday afternoon and by Sunday morning it is no longer fresh but it makes great toast. We do apologise for the dead cockroach and regret that you were disappointed with your stay at Cloudsong but we appreciate that you've let us know.

Stayed at Cloudsong over the weekend because we didn't want to stay in the heart of Berry. Best decision we could have made. We started planning our next visit there as soon as we were walking up the path to the chalet front door. What a darling and charming establishment. The chalet's were immaculate, and the surrounds gorgeous. Having home made hot bread delivered on our arrival was bliss. Eleanor was an absolute delight and ever so helpful. The place is a real credit to her. At Eleanor's recommendation we ate at Cafe Bella in the evening (a short 5 minute walk down the road), where we had what was undoubtedly the best steak ever. A beautiful mini weekend, and I have every intention of staying at Cloudsong again, would recommend it to anyone looking for some fresh air and a mini escape.

Chalets are in a great location walking distance to everything in kangaroo valley. Chalet was ok but a little disappointing the pictures on the website are probably from a few years back. Place was a little dusty. Bathroom was a little run down and the shower was not great. The curtain around it made the shower feel very small. Breakfast provided was generous. We were disappointed when we asked if we could use the fireplace we were told ‘I don’t think so’ bit disappointing as that was the reason we booked the place so we could enjoy a glass of red by the fireplace.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Cloudsong. The little chalets are very nice, and have a cosy fireplace. The breakfast supplies were also a delight. The place is easy to find as it is on the main street and you can walk to all the local restaurants and shops. This does however mean, that my peace was punctuated in the morning with noise of local traffic, and trucks passing through.
For me the one thing missing was plush towels, ours were definitely beyond their best before.

We had a magical weekend! Arriving late Friday night, Eleanor (our lovely host) was kind enough to leave chalet #3 unlocked with the lights on to welcome us. We were not disappointed to find the chalet was spotless & had all the comforts you need for a cozy winter weekend away. The indoor fire heated the chalet quickly & the king size bed was very comfortable! Waking up to the spectacular view was an added bonus, as was the fresh bread & delicious produce which was provided for our breakfast. The chalets are located right in the Main Street, a 2 minute walk to restaurants & The Friendly Inn. The only downside was that we had to return home as we would have loved to stay longer & experience more of the friendly valley!

Cloudsong is a great place to stay. The balcony is huge so makes it great to watch the sun go down. Who needs a television when you can play a selection of jazz music. Fireplace was great and the chalet is fully equipped with everything you could need. The garden is amazing filled with citrus fruit and flowers and herbs. A romantic get away indeed, Elenore is great and very hospitable!

Well appointed stand-alone 2 storey chalet. Fully equipped and a good supply of breakfast items, including ham and eggs. Even thought this is a quiet country retreat we would have appreciated a TV set.

Our host Eleanor was warm and helpful. So much personal thought put into the small touches. Breakfast was provided in a hamper of goodies - home baked bread, smoked ham, croissants, jam and yoghurts. Waking up to the sound of birdsong and views over the valley was absolutely blissful. The perfect base for a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend in Kangaroo Valley.

A beautiful B&B in the heart of KV. Highly recommended. Total bliss and tranquil. Love the landscapes, Egyptian cotton sheets the welcoming host and everything that the valley had to offer. Would definitely be thank. Soon

The valley itself is beautiful, however accommodation would be cheaper and a better selection available in one of the bigger towns like Moss Vale/Bowral/Nowra. You are paying for being in the valley - all accommodation was expensive. Cloudsong is well overpriced although it looks like the chalets have been painted and refurnished they don't warrant the price tag of $290 per night. The deck which from the website is a great selling point is unusable with the furniture provided. Chairs and table - we wouldn't use them - old, rickety and dirty. The deck itself is covered with debris from the trees that looks like it has been sitting there for a few growing seasons. The chalet is comfortable enough and equipped with enough to be self-sufficient. Be warned get some milk before you arrive if you want a coffee - non is provided. This is the first place we've come across in all our travels, both here and overseas where not even UHT is provided. Bathroom is very strange with the shower in a window with a curtain to cover it - open on the other side to the bathroom, so water goes everywhere. Be warned the stairs are quite steep.
