We stayed for 2 nights in the spa cottage. Here are the pro and cons I have found:
Pro:
1. Absolutely beautiful and well maintained ground. Spetacular views from the deck of our cottage. Deck is huge with BBQ and pool, spa. They are only for the use of this cottage guests.
2. Common swimming pool and spa are really nice. As it is surrounded by bushes, it is very Australian and fun.
3. Wild lifes. We encountered a Wombat at night and many wallabies in dusk and dawn.
4. Farm animals are a plus for children.
5. Many things you can do just in the park,. e.g. huge trampalion, the outback bar with pingpong, and many children playgrounds.
6. No Mossies.
Con:
1. You don't get the usual welcome feeling as in other country retreats. Obviousely the owners love their place and put a lot of effort in. However they do let you feel that you are here not because they like to entertain. You are only here because they need you to keep their farm going.
2. No instruction were given at all on how to interact with farm animals, how to turn on the lights on the deck etc. The only bit of helpful instruction was to not let our dog go near the donkies, otherwise our dog would die, we were told.
3. Our cottage is like a granny flat of owner's residence. It is not private. Even our deck can be shared by the owners. I was waken up every morning quite early by the owner's activities, and they don't go to bed very late. Other cottages do not have this problem though, as they are quite separated from others.
4. Very simple cottage interior, although it is absolutely beautiful from outside. Worst sofa bed I have ever come cross.
5. Not even milk, cooking oil were provided. Usually if you pay $275 a night, you kind of expect that.

Spent 7 nights at Banksia Park during the January school holidays. The place was easy to find about 10 mins from the village of Kangaroo Valley. The property itself is very nice with the cottages spread out so you have complete privacy during your stay. The only time we ever saw other guests was when we used the pool or helped feed the animals. The cottage was clean and equipped with all the basics you need for a self-catering holiday with a few extra things for the kids such as kids books and puzzles which was nice. They even provided a cot free of charge for our son which had a proper mattress and linen which was a nice change from the usual travel cot with the terrible mattress.
The kids loved all the animals at the property and usually we saw several kangaroos come close the cottage both at morning and night. There are lots of bugs outside (as you'd expect in the bush) so you will need to take some bug spray with you.
The only real cons for me was the fact that there was no bath in the cottage and so had to give the kids showers - which they are a bit reluctant about! However hot water was plentiful so not a huge problem. Also be aware that there are dams on the property so it would not be safe to let the kids wander around by themselves.
The pool and spa were lovely and my kids loved the slide that went into the pool. It got a bit cool at night while we were there so may want to take a cardigan. Overall this is a great place for a quiet relaxing break without the crowds that the kids will love.

A truly lovely location, 11 kms up the road from the main street of Kangaroo Valley, a perfect getaway for 8 adults,1 child & 2 small dogs to unwind, relax and indulge in quality time with great mates.
We arrived at sunset and the closer we got to Banksia Park Cottages, the more animals we saw, plenty of kangaroos and wombats.
We had 3 cabins between the 9 of us, all well equipped and provided all the necessities. We are not talking high end decor but for a cabin style getaway it was comfortable and homely. Our cabin didn't have an oven, but who wants to slave over a hot stove when there is excellent BBQ facilities. All the males in our group gave the BBQ a thumbs up. We were right by the campsite and it was wonderful to sit under the stars, get the guitar out and have a few drinks and laughs.
The location and facilities, the quietness, the view you really don't have to go into the town, if you didn't want to, there is enough to keep you occupied. Just walking through the olive groves, sitting outside, swimming, spa, table tennis it offered so much.
It was nice to chat to Alison the host and what was a weekend away seemed like a fortnight away, will definately stay there again.

Our lodge needed a good clean and kitchen utensils thrown out , had to clean nasty spiders and webs, that would have been there quite a while, off the entire verander and as a result had a black spiders in childrens bedroom. The oven and hood so dirty couldn't use, they smelt which was most unpleasant as we had 2 days of 38 and 40 degree heat and no air-con. if heat continued we would have had to have gone home, and the dirty, torn couch was most off putting. The chilren loved the wild life and although it's important to look after the enviroment you need to look after the accomadation you are providing as we didn't enjoy having to clean and spray.!!

My family of 2 adults and 2 young children stayed at the Banksia Park Cottages over the Easter long weekend. We drove from Sydney and arrived at approximately 2.40pm - 20 minutes earlier than the check in time of 3pm. Upon arrival we eventually found one of our hosts (reception was not staffed during our stay) and asked if we could check in. The answer was no, we could not. Thinking thats fine, we understand that we’re 20 minutes early, we asked if we could park and let our children play on the playground/look at the extensive grounds etc. Much to our surprise the answer was again no. We were asked to leave and return again at 3pm. This was incredibly inhospitable as there is not a lot to do in the surrounding area without driving a fair distance. Unfortunately the attitude of our hosts on arrival tainted our attitude to the property and took some of the enjoyment out of the trip.
The accommodation is adequate, feeding the animals is fun (note they no longer have chickens) and the kids enjoyed the playground. However based on the lacklustre attitude of the hosts I wouldn’t recommend Banksia Park for a visit.

We had such a lovely time at Banksia Park. We stayed in the spa cabin with our toddler. We loved the peace and quiet and the views from our spa on the deck were incredible. The owners are lovely and very friendly. The grounds and facilities are fantastic - especially for kids. Our toddler loved feeding the animals and collecting the eggs each afternoon. Would highly recommend.

We spent 2 nights here for the fathers day weekend & just loved it. The property is well maintained with views everywhere you look, gorgeous gardens, open spaces and lots of things to do. We stayed in Katie Cottage which was well suited for us with our kids (3 yrs & 1yrs). The cottage was clean, spacious & private with ample supply of all the basic equipment you need. Alison was a wonderful hostess & nothing was too much trouble, including supplying a bed rail for our 3 yr old & a portacot with an additional mattress. The kids just loved the animals and the play equipment, while we enjoyed walking around the property & soaking up the atmosphere. The campfire was all laid out and ready to go, all we needed to do was light it & enjoy. My 3 year old loved 'exploring' at night with the torch & found the whole thing a wonderful adventure. A refreshing and peaceful experience - we'll be back!

It is only a short 10min drive from Kangaroo Valley, The scenery is just breathtaking! Do not forget your camera! We stayed for 3nights in the Jennifer Cottage with our three boys. We had a communal BBQ & campfire we were able to toast marshmallows & made our own damper which everyone enjoyed. Wombat & Wallaby spotting of an evening was a real thrill for the boys! The boys loved being able to help Alison the owner feed the animals each afternoon. The boys made friends easily with the other kids and enjoyed swimming in the pool & having a spa, playing on the tractor and trampoline, riding the bikes! The kids didn't ask us ONCE can we watch tv or play the DS! So we know they had fun!
We had a gas fire which warmed the cabin nicely, bed was comfy and Alison supplied a high chair & portacot for our youngest. Cabin was clean and tidy on arrival.. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay.

We arrived later than we had hoped-originally planned a 2pm early check in and finally arrived at 9.30pm after delay in Canberra. Howver we were rewarded with 2 sightings of Wombats on the way in and right at the gates as we entered the property. Everything was working and in order and paul had left the lightes on and made a fire up for us which we got going in no time. we stayed in the Wombats Cottage. We cooked on the BBQ as soon as we arrived and toasted Marshmallows on the fire and got a great nights sleep. In he morning the kids explored the animals and jumped around on the trampoline and had a great time.
Overall lovely stay. we will be back

We just spent 3 nights a Banksia Park. What a lovely place.
It is a great place for the kids. There is lots for them to do and they can roam around very safely with minimal supervision. My boys had a blast exploring on their bikes, feeding the donkeys, chickens, the pigs Miss Millie and Miss Annie, sheep and ducks, swimming and trampolining. There is also lots of wildlife spotting with the wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, lizards and all the native birds. Plus, the resident Labrador pup was a great hit with my youngest son. I'm sure he would have brought the dog home with us if he could!
The cottage we stayed in was very well set up. It had a full kitchen, big fridge and very comfy beds. There are also laundry facilities, BBQ and campfire areas, a fantastic swimming pool and spa and a host of other facilities to make our stay very enjoyable. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the owners Alison and Paul were more than happy to help out wherever possible.
Kangaroo Valley is a beautiful spot in NSW, and Banksia Park is a perfect base from which to explore.
